Being that I was taking my very first "hand forged" straight razor in to be sharpened, I was of course pretty leery. My anxiety level all but vanished within the first few minutes however, as Harmonie was simply wonderful. I was greeted with a great smile and sincere greeting, and the rest of the time spent there was filled with learning about my steel, making sure I was happy with the edge, and sharing warm laughter with both Harmonie and her husband Jessie. Unfortunately not all news was good today, as I lost my "Zen" state while shaving..Yep, Harmonie got that blade sharp alright (yeow) This was a far better experience than I have had with 99% of my shopping experiences, and I wish we had more people like Harmonie and Jessie in the world. If you have some sharpening to be done, come on in and support a small business that is giving "extremely" fair prices for their quality of work, and also giving out beautiful warm energy that will have you leaving with a huge smile on your face :-) NOTE) when I looked up directions for TriMet, they gave crazy 1.5 hour travel time each way from the tigard area, stating they are way out at the end of Sandy...They are actually located right off the exit for 33rd street just past the Lloyd center.. I had been putting off getting my knives professionally sharpened because the last place I used needed to keep them for 2 days. In my chef days, the sharpener came to us so it was always a quick and efficient process and I am not going to let just anybody grind my blades. So, I am thrilled to have been referred here by a chef in town. I stopped by and Sharpening4U got them done within about 30 minutes which allowed me time to go grab a quick lunch and come right back. She also gave me some great instructions about how to care for my knives so they last longer. The blades are in great shape now and super sharp. Her price point seems totally reasonable. Don't put off getting your knives or other implements sharpened since it's much safer to work with a sharp blade than a dull one. read more

I learned about this place the hard way- by cutting my finger at a friend's house with a knife recently sharpened here...(that was one sharp knife!) After the wound healed, I brought in my own knives, and couldn't be happier. Amazing service from a woman who really knows her knives. fast expert service at extremely reasonable prices. If you don't happen to live on a street where the knife grinder wheels his cart along every year or so, ringing little bells to alert the locals to his presence, you need to know about this place. Horrible. Absolutely horrible. I brought a bunch of my Japanese knives in to be sharpened. Very rude. Very bad energy. My blade on my Misono was damaged, and wasn't even sharp after. I called on a Sunday about it, the woman answered. After explaining that my knife was messed up, she rudely told me she wasn't psychic and that I needed to bring my knife in. So I went over there just to find out they are closed on Sundays! I never went back. I never will again. read more

This place is the bomb!! I, also, had put off sharpening my knives - almost bought new ones as they were so dull, but took them in & within 45 mintues I had 9 knives back that were sharp enough to cut paper. Wow! Incredible service. I went in with a small pocketknife that I use daily, let's just say it could barely cut a piece of paper. I brought it in and showed him my knife and within five minutes I was out the door! These guys are great...a little podunk storefront and shop with little to no thought about presentation, but WOW, what a passion for knives! The woman there almost sang to my cerrated knife that i brought in since it was in such great shape, and then proceeded to carefully handle and closely inspect each of the other five knives before kindly advising me to refrain from the treatment i have subjected my knives to for the last 7 years. I learned a lot, and left with knives that are insanely sharp and knowledge on how to allow them to stay that way for a long time. All for 18$, and for only 30 minutes while i was able to run a couple of errands. Their hours are great, and i feel like i had a Portlandia experience, only with GREAT service! read more

This is as good as it gets! Great - and fast - service and a wonderful job on the 9 various sized knives I brought it. My cost was under $50 and I got my knives back in about 2 hours. I've already recommended them to a number of my friends. I know they take cards for a $10 minimum, but I like to pay cash for small businesses like this to help with their business costs. read more

I stumbled upon this business while sending a package at the UPS Store next door. Just to see their work, I only brought a couple of knives to be sharpened. One of the knives had a nick on the blade, and I thought that this might cause some problem. Harmony, one of the owners, said that she would have to grind the blade a bit to get past the nick. I told her to be careful, but to do what she needed to do to fix it. When I returned, the knife no longer had the nick and looked brand new with a consistent razor-like edge. Harmony had done a masterful job. I have since brought them all of my kitchen kinves and have bought two used Henckels form them. I will also bring them my push lawnmower for next summer. They do really fine work, and I should say, they do most jobs as you wait. read more

Harmonie is AMAZING. For many years my knives had been poorly sharpened by another business that no longer exists. She quickly diagnosed the issues and went to work on 8 knives.
