First off, this is an undeniably beautiful property, in large part because it is new, but also it…read moreis well designed with spacious seating areas and rooms, and a well-decorated and comfortable lobby. Parking outside the hotel is restricted to guests after 10 pm, by which time you must have moved into a parking garage that is a short walk away (also, a pay-to-park). But, as long as you are aware of this before check-in, it's not a big deal.
We loved the design of our room. We were traveling with a 12 year-old, and he enjoyed having the sofa bed area as his own space within the room, complete with his own drawer for storage in that area. The little alcove leading into the bathroom was a nice space for staging our packing and unpacking. Just a thoughtfully designed room that we appreciated.
Now for the down sides, and reason for only 3 stars. Housekeeping needs some additional training, or some better/more staff. They are clearly not *cleaning* certain areas/things in the room, but only spot-checking for visible debris. The shower floor was very slippery from what seems to be layers of spilled soap that just lay on the floor and accumulate because it seems they must just be rinsing down the shower at best, but not actually cleaning it. Our son started to pull out the sofa bed, but then quickly put it back and announced that he would just sleep atop the sofa but not use the bed, because the sheets that the sofa bed were made up with had "purplish red stains" on them. We stayed for 2 days, and at no point did housekeeping refill the body wash or shampoo containers in the shower, though they were pretty much empty on arrival, and after 2 days of showering we couldn't squeeze any more out of them. They must be waiting for a guest to alert them or complain when containers are empty, which is not the way to do things. You would think checking the dispenser levels would be part of routine housekeeping. The breakfast room looked better than it was. Again, it's a nice big, beautiful space, but on our first day half the items weren't stocked, the eggs were hard like they'd already been sitting for hours at 7:30 am, and the coffee was old and cold, again, at 7:30 am when breakfast service starts on a weekend at 7. It must have been sitting there from overnight. On Day 2 there were more selections available, but the "potatoes" (tater tots) were stone cold at 8 am, and I didn't even try the eggs again.
Overall, we give 3 out of 5 starts because it was a nice, new property with some really enjoyable touches, but improvements with housekeeping and breakfast are needed. I suspect the place actually *looks* more clean than it actually is, because it is so new.
