Despite her credentials, we do NOT recommend Dr. Kale due to cheap and questionable billing practices. Face time with her is difficult to get, wait times are excessive, and every small question now incurs extra charge!!! Bills are itemized per question!! Our previous doctor offered thorough care for decades to us with no surprise fees -- a stark contrast to Dr. Kale's approach. She mandates an illogical and unnecessary "pre-visit" to chit chat with new patients that no other doctors mandated us, and even that visit is billed, which is unnecessary. Disclaimer: this rating is solely based on my experience with the receptionist. My time with the doctor was great as she was very thorough in my check up and answered all the questions I had for her. I came in early to my appointment and sat in the waiting room and overheard the male receptionist apologize to the patient on the phone saying "I'm sorry if I was rude to you .... ". Although this wasn't the best first impression, I decided to brush it off as I didn't know the circumstances. When interacting with him, his overall attitude and demeanor was condescending. I didn't feel welcome coming into the office which is disappointing because I've come to this practice for my entire life. The icing on top of the cake was during the eye/vision exam. The exam is conducted directly behind the receptionist. I was told to uncover both eyes and read the bottom line (which I couldn't). I then heard the receptionist mutter under his breath something along the lines of "he couldn't read that?" It was too early in the morning for me to process that and call him out but it's pretty disappointing to hear that from a staff member, especially as I was in direct earshot of the comment. The other staff members were very nice and welcoming to me, but this kind of interaction makes me hesitant to continue my care here. read more

Being here is so stressful! I really don't feel like the receptionist/assistant are compassionate. The second I sat down, I felt like she was like screaming at me. There's just something in their voices that just seem so impersonal, like you're just patient # for them to just get out of the way. I've held my tongue for the last year thinking maybe they're having a bad day. But I realized that's just the way they are. I came 30 minutes early and even wrote down that I thought my appointment was at 2, but the receptionist didn't care to say anything, except she was quick to take my copayment. Any other office would of taken the time to ask what time my appointment was, but I guess that didn't matter. I've recently stopped going to this office this past year, and found out that I had a prescription sent out for me for a diagnosis that they never confirmed for me. I went there several times after that diagnosis, but it wasn't mentioned what so ever. This is extremely unnerving. Also, they went to paperless, but they can't find some of my past vaccinations so that I could get my yellow card signed off for Costa Rica. It was such a huge headache trying to get all my paper work. There's been times I've had questions and the front desk has diverted to "I don't know ask your insurance," which I find extremely unprofessional. I've worked behind a receptionist desk and rarely do I have the patient call. This review is mainly to do with the front desk that I've dealt with for the past few years. First off, I've been working in the healthcare for 8+ Years all with direct patient care, and I always take my time and make sure my patients are treated with love, respect and comfort. THIS PLACE LACKS ALOT OF THAT! I feel like a product here, coming from kaiser where doctors take time to get to know you and make you feel like family this place made me feel like it's quantity of patients rather than quality service in healthcare. Dr. Kale comes across very rude and not respectful, storms outta the door only to attend another patient without even a proper "goodbye." Took over 3 visits and try to get a recommendation to a dermatologist. As for her medical students follow Dr.Kale I hope they learn there's more to being a textbook doctor and learn to be passionate and loving to their patients. I HIGHLY WOULD NOT RECOMMEND THIS PLACE! I will be switching to PAMF (Palo Alto Medical Foundation) ASAP as I've heard great things about this place where doctors give quality care and might make a lifetime doctor there where they make me feel like family. read more

My wife and I have been going to Dr Saswati Kale's office for 3 yrs now. She is a great doctor from India. She understands the unique needs of Indian and South Asian patients and quickly cures them with effective medicine. She very jovial and energetic and her personality is half the cure. I have been seeing Dr. Kale for many years and my children have as well. I find her to ask good questions, she is very thorough, and always follows up with a personal call following labs and tests. The referrals she has made to specialists have always been good. There is a lab connected to her office which is convenient. I have a lot of confidence in her and the care she provides and treatments she suggests. I have not had an issue with office staff. Found this doctor through the Aetna website. I decided to make an appointment due to the good reviews, in high hopes of making this my primary doctor. I also was willing to wait till the next available appointment which the reception said wasn't until 2 weeks from when I called. The day of my appointment I came in and sandy who I'm assuming is a medical assistant or receptionist told me since I did not have my medical card on hand that I could not be seen. Due to the fact that I misplaced it I made sure to bring my Drivers license and was willing to provide them with any information need such as social security number etc but she said that would not suffice and I could not be seen. I have never experienced an issue like this and it is very frustrating. I know in the past once, I had forgotten my medical card they just asked for my ss# , called the provider and then got whatever info it is that they needed to process a claim It really just seemed to me that Sandy either lacked the training she should be required to known in order to do her job in the first place, acting like that wouldn't have been an option. She didn't even have a list of health insurance providers number she asked me to get it. I'm actually positive she was being lazy it's like what are you really there to do? Just sit and answer calls? Sometimes situations like this occur where things get misplaced and all I'm saying as part of her job she should be trained to handle such situations so that patients can receive he help and treatment they made need coming in. I am really disappointed in this practice and definitely would like people to know before making an appointment to be aware of the poor service Sandy at the front desk will be providing, it just seems to me that it should be a self check in service with the way I was treated and that with no knowledge of how to do her job, it is pointless for her to even been employed there. read more

I've been seeing dr kale for more than 19 years but kind of disappointed started last year. I've been seeing dr kale for my physical check up so I made my appointment but one of her staff called me saying that dr kale is not available but there's another dr so I have no choice so I said yes but the dr who who check me did not even do anything just write the order for my blood work and that's it . My second experience was just recently last July I got positive with Covid I called the office just want to talk to dr kali but her staff doesn't want me to talk to her unless I provide my temperature and blood pressure I told them I don't have means to provide that coz I don't have fever I just need to talk to the dr about my situation at that time but they never let me talk to her .she's my family doctor for how many years so disappointing coz I thought she's always there for her patient coz that not the way how my friends and relatives treated by their doctors at the same time we have Covid their doctors called them back right away but NOT my Doctor read more

While I hate giving Dr. Kale such an awful review I have to after a recent fiasco. Her staff is so incompetent I am now looking for a new doctor after fifteen years of being her patient. A few weeks ago I made an appointment for back pain. I specifically asked to see Dr. Kale not her nurse practitioner. To do this, I had to schedule a later appointment in a differen day. When I arrived I was told Dr. Kale was too busy and I would have to see the practitioner anyways, unless I wanted to wait for half an hour or so. I had a final in a bit so I too was on a schedule. To say the nurse practitioner was curt would be generous. After five minutes she told me I had pulled a muscle and prescribed some medicine, gave me a referral for an X-ray, and told me after the results were in they would set me up with a physical therapist. She also told me she would call the two prescriptions in. Four hours later I went to CVS to pick up my Meds and they had never been called in. When I called Dr. kale's office the admin giggled and told me the nurse practitioner was busy an forgot. She never told me she was sorry. She then said she would fax them over right away. A few hours later I returned to CVS and only one prescription was ever faxed over. Since it was evening and the doctors office was closed I would have I wait until morning for the other Meds. This is a wonderful thing to tell someone in chronic pain. A week and a half after I got the X-ray I still hadn't heard from Dr. Kale so I called her office. The same giggling admin told me that they did indeed have the results of the X-ray but the doctor was out of the office until January 3rd (9 days) and she could not give me the results, chance my medications, or refer me to a physical therapist until then. I asked her how long the results were in for. She told me they'd had them for over a week. When I asked why no one called me with the results she told me they were busy. It's really disappointing how little I matter to my doctor and her staff; that the fact that one of her patients is in suh severe pain that she can hardly sit at her desk for more than an hour or run more than a mile is of no concern to her. I told the admin that I would just find another doctor then, to which she replied "ok." read more

I moved to this area a few years ago and picked Dr. Kale because I heard good things about her. I have been extremely pleased with her all these years and would recommend her to my friends for sure. She gives enough time to hear me and pays attention to what I am saying every time I see her. I never felt rushed during the appointments. In fact when I had an issue with my thyroids she told me to wait while she retrieved my past records from the doctor I had before I moved and did a careful study before coming to a conclusion. I really feel we don't see such caring doctors these days who are willing to spend time for each appointments (and see less patients in a day, I guess!) Unlike the other reviewers here, I never had any issues with her staff either. When I wanted refills, they quickly returned my call and sent the prescription right away. Thank you, Dr. Kale. ugghh where do i even start?? Stay as far away as possible from this "doctor" . I had to wait 40 mins before I went beyond the reception desk. Wait another 20 mins once I'm in the room. So far just like any other doctor's office. Then suddenly i hear someone shouting and using very strong language in Hindi. Turns out "Dr" Kale was shouting at her employees. I pity those poor souls and do not understand why they were listening to her. Dr Kale came in to see me and instead of listening to me , she was in a hurry to get me out the door. She did not even want to listen to any other complaints I had and told me to come for a physical. This happened after I scheduled an appointment 3 weeks beforehand. I attributed this bad experience to it being a Monday. Weeks later I go in for a physical and it seems nothing has changed. This time around I could hear her shouting at a patient on the phone. She comes in the room this time around and after the usual stuff starts preaching about home remedies and ayurved. I'm of Indian origin that does not mean I'm in your clinic to chat about this stuff. I have been Dr. Kale's patient for a long time. Last year I was having menopause related problems. It was pretty bad and I was ready to take the extreme step. Dr. Kale very patiently explained other ways to try first before going under the knife. She also suggested some home remedies to help with my issues. Thanks to her, I waited for a couple of months, and the less invasive procedure actually worked. I would recommend her to anyone who needs a doctor that thinks holistically. She is up to date with the latest medical treatments and will suggest something only if it's really needed. She spends enough time talking to you. That shows she really cares. read more

I had my mom visiting me from India, and had to take her to Dr.Kale's office for her medical problem. Dr.Kale was very good. The way she handled my mom's problem was great. She had the patience to listen and was very good in collecting all the information regarding her medical history from my mom, though my mom's English knowledge is very limited. The worst (rude) Doctor and Staff I have seen so far. - The lady sitting at reception was very rude. - I recently moved to this area and so was in search for a good family doctor. At the same time I got cold and Flu. So after seeing some positive reviews on Yelp I tried to get an appointment with Dr. Kale since this was closest to my home.Unfortunately the clinic was closed that day and the next day morning I just walked in since I was not feeling well (to see if they can squeeze me in or set an appointment for later). But the response from the receptionist was extremely rude and with anger "You should not come without calling, we can not do anything" and then I was requesting her if she can set an appointment later that day or next day. Dr. Kale came in during this conversation, and the words came out of her mouth was not expected from a Doctor. I can still forget the receptionist's behavior and rudeness but not this. The Dr. was like "This is USA and we call to book an appointment in USA" and she repeated similar sentences multiple times. I know that I shall call for an appointment and I tried to do that too. However, when I told the Doctor that I called yesterday for an appointment then she was like "you didn't call me and I did't receive any call and she was also willing to see my call history"(she didn't see it though) They could have treated in a gentle way being a Doctor, by taking it easy saying we don't have anything available now and should have had given me some other time without taunting "This is USA" and all. - It is possible that the doctor's practice might be good but the way she & her staff treated us today was horrible & would never step in to this place again. First of all, there is no value for a patient's time. My appointment was set for 1:30p. I reached there by 1:00p only to find out that the first attendant to return from "lunch time" walked in, casually, at 1:35p. In no hurry, she blankly looked at about 3-4 of us who were waiting outside and signaled for the first one to come up. I explained to her that I was taking a break from my office hours and would appreciate a sooner dialogue with the doctor. She let a person in, who had walked in the clinic after I did. No remorse, guilt or any explanation. At 2:00p, someone called for me and asked me to wait inside, in Room #10 where I will meet the doctor. I thought, ok, finally! But only to my dismay, I waited there, for another 20 minutes before Dr. Kale arrived. She is absolutely capable of pretending that nothing happened. Did her check up, spoke to me about my symptom and I was out the door in 9 minutes. O yes, while I was walking out the door, Dr. Kale, just as casually as her young, inexperienced and callous staff, cooly stated 'Sorry about the delay, I was with another patient'. Moral: From 1p to 2:30p, I spent 9 minutes with the doctor and the remaining minutes waiting to see her. read more
