Maria kept us in the loop of our status and guide us through the application and documentation process. The Quarry office closes on the weekend and with our busy schedule, we could only see it on the weekends. Maria made it happen and we were able to see it on Saturday. During the move in process, Maria greeted us and PERSONALLY handed us the keys and a welcome packet. She also made sure everything was in working order before we moved in. We have not seen a property manager who is this efficient and involved in San Diego. There was an incident where the maintenance guys blocked our car and we contacted Maria about it. She PERSONALLY walked out of the office, looked for them, and told them to move. Maria is wonderful and we are glad she is our property manager. The neighborhood is quiet and lovely. There's a beautiful park across the street. This area is close to downtown La Mesa.

First of all they were built sometime back so even though these pricey pricey condo type apartments for even more money than here which isn't too bad here Shasta Lane apartments have living rooms that are large and spacious connected to a dining room and a kitchen then there's a hallway and then a bathroom on one side the bedroom on one side and wow walk inclosets! I say this because this feels like a home it is not compacted at all I believe it was built in the seventies but it might have even been the 50s and they just read you the parking lot as well as the roofs so everything is wonderful and they are remodeled in different ways at different times so everybody has some special kind of thing about their apartment that makes it special to them we talk amongst each other and it's a friendly place. But more than that it's been the people that work here that make it real community for me. When I left to go to a funeral in Denver where I am from, the resident relations manager who is in my building and we keep a quiet building said Shasta Lane is a family we will welcome you back. That touched me because I haven't made a lot of friends yet in california! I also want to mention somebody else, somebody very special at fixing anything you can think of someone that any business would want if they didn't need a lot of trouble and other experts and just wanted one man that could do it all and sometime with an assistant his name is Brandon Fronhoefer, the senior service manager. I never have to worry about things costing here even though renters insurance is required because the place really doesn't need a lot of repair in all of these apartments are sturdily built and not only that, the senior business manager Lorraine Seward seems to really have work with some people that took advantage of the covid no pay rent because they did not read the law and suddenly were left with oh my goodness I have to pay it all at once all back. They did not read the statute, and that is unfortunate. For some time the rain worked with these people, I noticed that people were allowed to stay for some time past the time they could repay it so that seems to have come to an end it is understandable and that is why the rent has gone up all over town. I have bad credit but I always pay my rent first. I also want to say that the staff has been especially patient with me because I have a mental illness combined with a head injury, I appear normal speak normal and do a lot of things just like everyone else, but the staff is aware of my condition and they are so sensitive it it is unbelievable! I highly recommend moving here is a wonderful place don't worry about the price I couldn't find anything cheaper in Chu la Vista you'll do well here you'll enjoy it it even has a hot tub and heated floors in my bedroom and living room amazing amazing view out of the patio facing west and a palm tree for my Colorado fun time I love San Diego and this has been a wonderful experience thank you Shasta Lane apartments. Spacious and well maintained apartments, wonderful swimming pool and the onsite maintenance and management is excellent! Props to Jacque Mierop for always being available and attentive if any maintenance requests were needed and for communicating so effectively. After moving out of state, the checkout process was easy and my deposit was forwarded by mail promptly further demonstrating the professional of the manager(thanks again, Jacque for always doing things promptly). Over the years, we've dealt with: A cockroach infestation that lasted several months inside our apartment before it was finally resolved Frequent management changes with little communication or accountability Laundry machines that only supply hot water, which has damaged and shrunk many of our clothing items Animal urine in the elevator that can be left for days, while feces typically get cleaned up only after someone reports it, sometimes within a few hours Multiple thieves and homeless people have come into the building; we live near an alley with several homeless encampments, which adds to security concerns Stolen packages--one thief was caught on camera, but management refused to help contact the person or assist in recovering packages citing company policy Water shut-offs nearly every week due to outdated plumbing, often with little or no notice While rent wasn't always paid on time, when it was late, we were threatened with losing our additional parking spot Most recently, our parking stall was reassigned without clear or honest communication. We were told to move temporarily for security camera installation, only to be told afterward that the change was permanent -- with no formal notice and no explanation why we were singled out. No environmental considerations, much higher rent, and lots of apartment floods as building ages. Management doesn't allow "auto pay" for your portion of subsidized rent if on a housing program of any kind . You must pay $10 for a cashiers check or get check sent from your bank. High fine for one day late rent .... No exceptions. Lots of elevator breakdowns, and garage door breakdowns, leasing staff does not stay working here long, so just when u think u have a great relationship/communication w office, it's gone. Most times the office is in chaos and you get wrong information on what you ask about. Very frustrating for the residents Security is not great... years ago was wonderful, The trolley brings problematic people into this vicinity. Not really safe to walk your dog at night. I sure miss our former management company. They were considerate and always fair. This is now called The District and is nothing like the wonderful place it was as Pravada.

Fiberglass Fiasco: Health and Finances Lost (Link to video…read morein my second picture) A few months ago, I was eager to move into Alterra. It's convenient location and modern architecture seemed to outweigh its expenses. When I moved in, the staff was friendly, but I soon became aware of its lack of interpersonal charm. Despite most of the staff providing only a semblance of benevolence, one staff member, Harmony, was kind, helpful, and personable. So I overlooked warning signs, such as continued maintenance problems with my apartment from day one. My major issues began late July when I began to experience skin irritation and formication, to which I naturally assumed to be an insect infestation. I promptly notified staff of the problem and requested an inspection. That's when the struggle began. It took me three weeks of nagging to get an actual inspection. During this time period, I was lied to. I continued to experience health problems in my apartment, which drove me to hotels that I had to pay for myself. No results were found from the inspection, so management acted as if that was the end of it. I continued to experience skin and now respiration problems, which pushed me to medical centers. I had to investigate the problem myself while staying in hotels. That was costly, and by the time I had narrowed down the problem, I was out of money. I now presume the problem to be airborne fiberglass or building material from the renovated unit next door. It was much too late though. I opted out of my lease. I am a veteran, and I have lost all my money trying to fix this problem. The problem is not with maintenance. I understand that things go wrong. The problem is with the dubious, cavalier attitude that I was treated with. I haven't received any reimbursement for my hotels or medical, and I had to pay rent for the two months that this fiasco ensued. I haven't even received an apology for messing up my home and finances. I write this, not to bash anyone, but to make others aware of the problems with communication and customer relations that I faced. For almost two grand a month, I deserve better. You deserve better. Management should have been working with me to investigate what was making me sick, not doubting my every word. Maybe someone from corporate will see this, and I can get some kind of reimbursement, so I can find a place to live. If not, maybe you will read this and avoid moving into my tainted unit. Who knows though? Maybe they will fix it. My recommendation is don't even waste your time if you are looking for a place with people who care past their 9-5. You're only a dollar figure and a paycheck to them. I expect much more than that, and so should you.

On Tuesday, I reached out to the leasing office to see about getting a tour for one of their one…read morebedroom units. I spoke with Ana, who agreed to meet me around noon the next day. I rearranged several of my own meetings at work to facilitate a long lunch so I could do this. I arrived at the leasing office on time and met with Ana. I had to remind her that we set up an appointment via email and that I was there to tour their one bedroom. She immediately started shaking her head and, very rudely, said she had already given a tour that morning and they "were just going to rent to those people instead." She never sent an email cancelling the appointment, and never apologized for wasting my time. She was rude and condescending. The location differs a lot from the pictures (especially in terms of cleanliness), and it looked more like an extended stay hotel than anything. Also, if management is going to treat a rental lead like that, how would they treat someone already locked in a lease? I will certainly be taking my business elsewhere, and I hope my review urges you to do the same.

The apartments themselves are so spacious, especially the closets. When I have friends over, they almost always compliment how much closet space we have. I'm really impressed with maintenance. I often see the hallway lights being cleaned and changed. I've also experienced the small but mighty improvements around the complex such as the signage updates& lighting around the complex. The ground keepers do a great job of keeping up the cleanliness. I often see them vacuuming and wiping common surfaces down. Management is available, kind, professional and very easy to communicate with. I know a combination of single people, families & retirees that live here and everyone is respectful of each other. The location of the complex is amazing too with it being close to a park, Aldi, Target, Costco and others.
