IF I COULD GIVE HER ZERO STARS - MINUS STARS - I WOULD. NO MANNERS, NO SOCIAL SKILLS, NO COMMUNICATION SKILLS. When I called to inquire about her services, she was short and rude and refused to discuss her services or pricing until after I sent her a $50 PayPal deposit - which she actually had me pay her fee, so it was $53, along with photos of the style I wanted and the length of my hair. After sending all that, she STILL didn't get back to me and I had to bug her to get a response. When I did - she immediately said the same thing - make the deposit, send the photos. I told her I did already. I then asked if she would wash and deep condition my hair before going into the braids, it took her a day or two to reply. When she did, I confirmed I wanted the service. When I showed up for my appointment, she was prepared to braid my hair with gel in it - no wash and condition. I asked her what happened and she claimed she never heard back from me, but our iPhones clearly reflect that she received and read the response text wherein in confirmed, only TWO minutes after she told me the cos for the additional service. I asked if she could do it and she told me no and her excuse was she didn't have time to read text messages- which is HER PREFERRED method of communication!!! She doesn't answer phone calls. She then said she could swap my appointment times and said to come back at 9pm. I told her I lived an hour away and have three kids, so that was not convenient. She then offered to reschedule me and I requested the following weekend. She said she only had one spot at 3pm. I accepted and left the braiding hair at her house for my appointment. The night before, she contacted me to confirm the appointment- for 8am!!! I was pretty sure she somehow mixed up her schedule and told her I couldn't make the time. She seemed to want to have a verbal exchange rather than acknowledge her mistake. Considering her RUDENESS from start to now, I felt it best to dispute my PayPal payment to get my money back for the deposit. She then proceeded to tell me she would leave my hair in a bag by her garage outside her home for me to pick up. Which, by the way - she did not do. She kept it. I DON'T CARE HOW TALENTED SOMEONE IS - A NASTY ATTITUDE will ALWAYS overshadow and DIMINISH said talent. For the record, I was NEVER anything other than kind, polite, and despite her nasty attitude, patient with her. I have to give this lady her props! I'm was in transition from chemically treated hair to all natural hair! I also suffer from hair loss due to medication! Since I've been going to Shatari my hair is back in shape! She taught me how to provide nourishment for my hair in order for it to grow! She was really honest about what styles are best for me in order for me to keep it up on my own! And that is really important for me because some stylist are just out to get your money! They will put anything you ask for in your hair an this lady WONT! If Shatari feel that a style will damage your hair more than it was or is already she won't do it! She even has the "grow hair" touch and as you may know not everyone can make your hair grow. If you have tender head issues like me, she can work with that too. I would like to start off by saying that unfortunately I have not had the opportunity to receive services from this business. However, based off my conversation with the stylist; it is probably the best that I didn't. I reached out over the phone to inquire about a specific braiding style (bob box braids) and I spoke to ShaTari. From the beginning I was told that she was the only one that was able to do that style which was fine by me. I told her from THE BEGINNING my hair was short because I was transitioning from a shaved style; she asked me to text her pictures. I sent her four pictures and she immediately responded with a $90 bill. I told her that that was great and asked when she would be available. She told me same day or next and asked which location I preferred. I confirmed my date and location with her. She asked how long my hair was and I sent her a picture for her to get and idea. I reiterated that I needed her to advise me on the right size of the braid based on my hair length...this is where things got shaky. She told me that she would need to go smaller and it would cost more. I asked her about her specials that she had posted online which showed $60. I was okay with $90 based off of my hair length and her prices she posted on her page. She told me my hair was to short for that price. She then stated that those prices are for her new stylist only (which contradicts the fact she said my hair was too short for that price) and that they can only be done tues-thurs. This information is also NOT posted on her site. This is when I became frustrated. She then, again, asked what my hair looked like and I told her that same thing. She got snappy and told me if I want the special to book with her other stylist. I had been pretty clear through the convo that I wanted her to braid my hair. I asked her again when she was available to physically see my hair so I can get an accurate price and to set an appointment. She then called me with an attitude stating that she doesn't have time to text back in forth because she was in her LA location doing hair. She told me that my hair was too short and that I'm basically asking her to do double the work by putting two different types of braids in my hair (which is unnecessary). She asked me to send her pictures and told me that it would be more based off of how she felt she would need to braid it...without actually seeing my hair. I tried to end the conversation by thanking her for her time and stating that I hadn't had that issue before and wishing that she would actually the time to consult with me in person....then she continued to go back and forth. She told me that she didn't want to do my hair based on how I said others did it. I told her that that wasn't my concern, my concern is that I didn't mind taking the time out to sit and consult with her before she passed judgement. She finally told me that her consultation times were Tues-Thurs only. And then called me petty. Without blabbing anymore, I did not appreciate the lack of information, misguidance, waste of time and unprofessionalism from ShaTari. From the beginning I should have been informed of her process for consultations, conditions of her specials and locations that she works at. It is never of okay to give a potential or current customer a price without proper consultation and without setting the right expectations. Im sure her work is great but I am a creature of habit when it comes to building relationships with clients. Unfortunately, because of her attitude and business habits I am forced to believe that my hair would reflect her attitude....terrible. I hope this helps any future clients. Please be thorough about your wants and needs and she will miss steps...and make sure you hold her accountable for consultations that way you are not misguided. read more

Worst Salon EVER!!! If I can give it 0 stars I would!!!! Make sure you come Washed, Blow dried, and purchase everything you need for the style that you want before you enter(I'm Surprised I didn't have to purchase a comb and brush). The ONEE individual that seems to be in the shop is RUDE and UNPROFESSIONAL!!! I know this is California but you shouldn't walk in a salon thinking that it is a California smoke shop. Well technically I didn't walk in, the outside was completely LOCKED, she had to come physically unlock the door. The $50 deposit is NONREFUNDABLE, which they don't tell you, but that's understandable due to holding a spot for an appointment. I love Shatari. She braids fast. The longest I have ever sat in her chair was 6 hours and that was for micro individuals with curly human hair. Her professional mannerism and hair knowledge is unbeatable. Her prices are reasonable especially for the amount of time spent in the chair. I actually still have time left in my day to run errands after getting my hair done. I have tried others but I have always come back to the best. I had a very bad experience with this braider, 1st of all she was advertising Micro Mini braids for $250 and the photo she advertised wasn't even her work. I could tell is wasn't her work when i compared the braids i seen on the internet vs the braids i had in my head. I was so disappointed because she put small braids around my head and weaved the middle which was a insult to me. I 'm really disappointed that I even have to post what will be a negative review. After loosing my hair in the center and edges due to illness/medications. I thought I would never be able to have my hair braided again. I came across Shatari Braids facebook page and was impressed. As the notes all over her page that indicates she ' specializes in damaged hair, people suffering from alopecia, or the after effects of chemotherapy" . I observed for months and finally made phone contact. My initial call I found her to be short, and harsh, ( but because I'm used to working with ALL types) I dismissed it. She indicated she was on the other line and would get back to me. Never happened( that should have been my 1st clue) Not a woman of her word. Skipping forward months I contacted her via facebook messenger and asked all sorts of questions, after initially answering a few she indicated " she can't stand the back and forth" it seems as if I don't know what I want and she can't make the decision for me( again that was the 2nd hint) She attempts to pass herself off as very sisterly, professional , multi talented person. Uhmmm. NOPE. She doesn't respond to text/phone messages in a timely manner. If you don't believe me, go look at her facebook page ( 8-14-16) and read the RULES she has for clients. I texted her on 7-24-2016 she indicated she could do my hair THAT day, well of course she don't return text in a timely manner, so the appointment was moved to 7-25-2016 after my work shift. We didn't start at the time she indicated( she was running late). I have no comment nor issue about the location/environment. I was there to get my hair done, no more, no less. She is not warm& fuzzy( that's okay not looking a friend ) but she mentioned several times that I ' hold a bad head' and she would have been finished had I kept my head still? She also in our later communication indicated: ' I fell asleep, was eating, or having a visitor) that also caused her to take so long. So lets see: I work a 9 hour shift( so I might have dozed off), eating? I brought nothing to eat or drink. After about 3 hours I had a friend stop by and bring a drink and pastry from starbucks. Let me speed up- the micro individuals were horribly done. Loose, un raveled, hair not even in the braids, she sewed the weft ( used for the bang) to my own hair( that per her own words was DAMAGED) and you don't use a net. I paid 450.00 for some poor quality braids. So peep this what could have been a long term , profitable relationship ( I know and interact with lots of people) has turned into me filing a small claims suit to recoup my monies. And wanting to prevent her from trying this again. If this lady was humble, professional and decent. She would have simply repaired what was requested ( to redo the braid bun) I had to take it down because she had sewed the inner wefts SO tight it was so painful. And my only request was for her to redo it ( probably would have taken less than 20 minutes) She indicated she would call me, never did. I wouldn't have even known the braids was so jacked up, because it was going to stay up. So to those who have special hair care needs like me, keep moving. I think she's talented, but she's not professional, and she doesn't keep her word. So now I gotta expend energy to filing this suit and exposing her. read more

I wish I had read the reviews before wasting my time calling this woman. I simply called for more information about braids. She had a stank attitude and acted like I was inconveniencing her with my phone call. Now that I have read the other reviews I know that it was not my imagination that she is rude. For someone who is trying to conduct a business, she is completely unaware of professionalism and service. I am one that doesn't mind paying top dollar for QUALITY service and I tip well. I was merely looking for a place to go regularly when i am in this area. (I travel for relatively long term projects )Her sarcastic comments and short fuse personality will keep me from patronizing this poor excuse for a business owner.
