My boyfriend and I have been searching for fantastic falafel for awhile now. (Well it's my boyfriend's mission, ever since he tasted the authenticity of one back in Iraq). So he ordered the wrap and to his dismay, it comes pretty darn close.. To me it tasted pretty good. I love the crispiness and the flavor of the chick peas. We also got the fried kibbe - a fried appetizer stuffed with ground beef, onions and spices. Tasted pretty good. Once again, super crispy, which I love since I'm enjoy food textures as well. This little Mediterranean gem is hidden in the strip mall that generally is know better for the La Carreta on the corner... close to the Turnpike on Kendall Drive. The place does not feature any fancy design but rather is laid out very straight forward with only a few details on the walls that give you the hint of being in a middle eastern restaurant. Then you get to the menu and all is well. All you staples are here, hummus, kibbe, falafel. The counter separates the kitchen that s hiding in the rear. Service is always friendly and the food is simply...good. And with their prices, there is no reason to put this into your lunch rotation. read more

Best shawarma in Kendall!! It's a hidden gem in a strip mall across from Town & Country. Authentic, flavorful and delicious food. Everything on the menu is tasty. My favorites are the house salad, chicken Caesar wrap, shawarma platter (chicken or mixed), lentil soup, hummus...basically the entire menu! I'm having a hard time deciding how many stars to give this place. I was sad after reading the reviews that my falafel wasn't better (I'm a HUGE falafel fan, & coming from an area that has the largest Arabic population in the country...I know what I like) So, the reason I was disappointed with my falafel is because 1) the consistency was off, it was extremely mushy and just felt gross in my mouth, 2) there was a strong lemon flavor, which I'm not used to. So I ended up picking apart my sandwich and using the pita to eat the AWESOME hummus!! So the hummus gets 5 stars. It had perfect consistency (nice and creamy) and the flavor was just heavenly. Just the right amounts of garlic and tahini. So in summary: Love, love, loved the hummus (5 stars) Hated the falafel (1 star) Service was fast and nice (4 stars) Prices are good (4 stars) I will be back, but not for falafel. Looove this place, I eat here at least once a week, food is great and the service is wonderful.

Ordered lunch from here today for carry-out. First, order wasn't exactly right. Over the phone I ordered hummus with meat (which I found the hummus to have an overwhelming tahini taste), grape leaves with meat (which were forgotten, I was charged for a Greek salad instead), Falafel and Combo Kabob Duo with chicken and kafta. I loved the grape leaves! They are one of the best I've had around these parts. The falafel was crispy yet moist inside, also the best I've had so far. Most other places I've had them at they're soggy outside and dry inside, so this was definitely a welcomed change, plus the flavor was REALLY good. The Kabob duo was okay. The chicken was a bit dry and lacked flavor, the kafta was seasoned well. All in all not bad, but I definitely won't go out of my way to visit this place. I was really surprised by how good this place is. Located in the La Carreta strip mall off of 117th Ave and Kendall Drive, Shawarma serves up some badass Mediterranean food. The food is good, fresh, and cheap. Excellent for lunch or a quick weekday dinner. I would have given this place 5 stars had Marc Anthony not been BLASTING from the speakers the whole time we were there. It was especially bad because as if Marc Anthony's music wasn't bad enough, it was a live CD, so there was lots of clapping and crowd cheering. This place is OK. There are definitely better places to go to if you want to order Middle Eastern. My girlfriend had the falafel and chicken platter. It wasn't bad, but it wasn't great either. The baklava is pretty good though. I would most likely not go here again. The service wasn't bad they took our orders when we got there, but I swear everyone there was playing games on their cellphone or on a call. It is a place where you walk up to the counter and order what you want, but it is still a little unprofessional. I came across this place somewhat randomly. The outside decor is very strip-mallesque, and, other than the wall pictures of exotic locales, the interior is pretty nondescript. The food, however, is exceptional for Middle Eastern fare. We had the chicken shwarma wrap, hummus with meat and babaganoush. They were all extremely tasty; the babaganoush in particular had a great smoky flavor, and the meat that came with the hummus was grilled to perfection. Found this place by accident. Upon entering, it looked very plain and needed to have some personality. My first problem was that I found the menu hard to read and could not tell what was included. Food was pretty good. Seemed authentic and I enjoyed my meal. Did not like the plastic silverware and the low end seating. It conflicted with the better quality of the food. Would I go back, yes. I measure by three different things in comparison to Taco Bell: DECOR: Shawarma Mediterranean Grill is located in a medium size strip mall near other establishments. It's a pretty small restaurant, however I've never had a problem finding a seat here. I like that it's a pretty casual place unlike most mediterranean restaurants, which tend to be on the more fancy side. It's smaller than your average Taco Bell franchise, but who eats at Taco Bell anyway? A star here. SERVICE: The people who work here are friendly and the food is quick from when you order it. Considering that I've been to Taco Bells slower than here, I definitely would give two stars for service! FOOD: What I come here for is their delicious food. I've been to several different mediterranean restaurants in the Miami area and this one remains my favourite for cost and quality of food. I usually get their Fattoush Salad and Lentil Soup. Their salad is great, but the Lentil soup is absolutely delicious here! Together a soup and salad will cost you around $8, which I don't think is that bad considering it's very filling and delicious. FINAL VERDICT: Is Taco Bell better? No. Considering the freshness and quality of Shawarma's food I definitely would prefer this over the chance of feeling regretful after eating too much from Taco Bell! read more

We dropped by here for a quick dinner and ordered the mixed platter and a chicken shawarma sandwich to share. The food was fresh and made quickly. The sandwich was really good - the only problem was it was messy to eat because the sauce dripped out the bottom. The platter was okay - the kibbeh was good but I've had better hummus, babaganouj and stuffed grape leaves at several other places. The pita was thin and the two little radish pickles weren't enough for me. I would stop by again if I was in the area and was craving middle eastern food, but wouldn't go out of my way to come here. I love Greek salads so I stopped by this place in hopes to be fulfilled. My $10 salad, however, was far from pleasing. To start, I was charged an extra 3.75 to add the chicken to my salad, only to get back to work and see that there's barely any meat added (see picture). We wanted a quick stop on our way to the movies, so this seemed to fit the bill. Shawarma is cute and colorful with pictures of camels, hookahs and belly dancers on the red and lime green walls. We both ordered the mixed shawarma platters (grilled chicken and beef). I chose rice with lentils and salad as my sides. The salad was very very tasty and the rice was great, too. My only complaints were that they were a little slow, and that the shawarma looked totally dried out. It had been taken from spits as you see when ordering a gyro. But I've had very juicy and tender shawarmas at other places. We asked for sauce and one of us had fries, so were handed ketchup. But we noticed another table with a whole bottle of white sauce so went back and asked for that, and were told it was tahini sauce. We must have used up a third of a bottle, but it sure made the meat seem tender and delicious. So the meal was excellent overall, but I have to subtract a star for the dry looking meat presentation. read more

The chicken kabobs are the tastiest things I've ever eaten. The beef kabobs are alright. The chicken kabobs come with delicious salad (with great spices), rice (with noodles and almond shavings), and pita bread. It's phenomenal. The only gripe I have, as with most restaurants in Miami-Dade, is the lack of fountain soda and the need to pay per drink. A fountain soda machine would make this place heaven. Did they change owners ? The food has changes and the shawarma(chicken) wrap had hardly little to no meat it tasted like a Tahini filled wrap with veggies . I came a few weeks ago and the platters were more like burnt chards of chicken and beef. And the Labne appetizer which is a generous amount of yogurt spritz ed with herbs and paprika : comes with ONE pita bread . Extra is 0.50 cents per pita. Seems odd .
