For my drive back to Cleveland from skiing at Holiday Valley I was looking for a place along the route to grab some fish and chips for dinner. Steener's Pub popped up and the reviews were good. Located in Bemus Point just a couple of miles from I 86 made for a convenient stop. Steener's is located a bit outside of the Bemus Point main drag, but there are a couple of other businesses nearby. The building looks modern from the outside, inside it looks like the original bar area has been there quite a while, they then added a dining room and later a second dining room. The decor is casual tavern style, lots of wood and mellow colors without much extra. The menu is a nice mix of typical bar food with a good selection of fish and seafood which makes sense for a place so near to Chautauqua Lake. Service was good, the waitress was friendly. I ordered the fish and chips since it was highlighted in the menu. The order came out quickly, a huge batter fried fish fillet on top of a load of fries with side cups of tarter sauce and coleslaw. The fries and coleslaw were just what you expect, good but nothing special. The fish was outstanding, mild flaky white fish in a perfectly crunchy coating; delicious and very satisfying. My only complaint was that while it was nicely presented on a square plate, having the huge fish fillet on top of the fries made it difficult to eat since I had to move the fish around to get to the fries and cutting the fish with the fries underneath did not work well. I appreciate attractive food presentation is important, but this was too much food for the size of the plate. I really liked my dinner at Steener's, if they could raise the level of the side dishes to match the fried fish this would be truly exceptional. Keep making great fish, just upgrade the rest of food to match. read more

BEST Chicken Wings! They are the most consistent. Fresh, meaty, crispy, saucy. They just do it right here. I get the hot buffalo. My daughter gets brown sugar on medium buffalo. The ranch dressing is so good with the wings and salads. It's not runny and must be made in-house. On a cool night, I'll also order the French onion soup. Service is always friendly and quick. The remodel gives them more space and the patio is great when we bring our dog with us. The bathroom in the expanded space is newer and more spacious. We love supporting this local restaurant. We met up with friends for food and drinks. Free parking out front and a convenient location. Vibe is casual. They were able to easily accommodate our large group. Service was prompt and efficient. They have good selection of cold drinks. I did not try the food myself this visit but the wings looked great. read more

I cannot stress enough that allergies are allergies. Whether in food or beverages. If a customer asks for a specific alcohol, it's not being bougie or snooty . There are serious reactions. HIVES. What was supposed to be a a nice dinner out turned crappy awful fast because bartenders decide to be ignorant. Maybe your old lady bartender should be given a lesson is paying attention to what her servers request. Dragon balls and ranch were as amazing as ever. We both got specialty Mac'n'cheese this time. Huge portions! I'll say the Mac'n'cheese itself is very bland. Once you add on the homemade chicken tenders with Buffalo sauce like I got or the brisket with homemade onion rings and bbq sauce that he got, it's absolutely delicious! I highly recommend the specialty Mac over the plain because they are mind-blowing. I had mama's wrap and it was the best I've ever had so delicious! Our waitress was really friendly and on top of everything The only drawback is the acoustics are terrible and it was so noisy even after a large table left. The place was dark and gloomy, forget about bringing a family there for food unless you want to hear a bar full of drinkers yelling and swearing. Waitress was ok but food took 45min for wings and a burger. The wings were mixed with jumbo and small wings so when cooked the small ones were dried out . We were there a few years ago and did not have the best experience as the quality of the food was poor. It looks like the restaurant was remodeled and we decided to give it a second chance. Bad decision! We arrived and waited with 3 or 4 other parties in the vestibule and the seating hostess walked by without acknowledging anyone about 4 times. We waited for about 25 minutes and she finally came to the vestibule for the first time and announced in a very abrupt manner that they would no longer be seating as the kitchen was backed up over an hour and a half and turned and walked away. This was two hours before the closing time on a Mon. eve . We were quite surprised that they would let people wait 25 minutes before even telling them that they were no longer seating. Really great food at good prices. If you're looking for a huge plate of food, this is your kind of place (Go ahead, I dare you to order mac and cheese). I've tried many/most of the menu items in the past year and can honestly say that Steener's is the most reliably good restaurant in the area. And that is the best endorsement that I can give any restaurant. The servers are prompt and friendly. Food comes out of the kitchen in a reasonable amount of time and the sequencing between appetizers and meals is perfect. The flavors are typically bold and on point. On the negative side, it can be loud inside when it's full, but that is not uncommon in any restaurant. And my biggest concern is that there isn't enough parking. However, these are minor things compared to how excellent this place is overall. read more

Great small pub! The "onion ring" (singular on the menu) is a huge stack of fluffy battered onion rings you can share with your table. Wings were amazing...and you can choose from about 15 sauces. After deciding to order some takeout food late on a Sunday (8:30 pm) I gave Steener's a call to see if they were still serving food. They stopped at 9 pm but were happy to take the order. I got two orders of wings (butter garlic and hot maple BBQ) along with the Dragon Balls. Only took 15 minutes. Everything was excellent, cooked perfectly, and even stayed hot before I got home. While I was there cashing out, I asked if they had any desserts. They had some peanut butter pie so I got that too. I was very happy with the food but more so with the service and their willingness to take an order so late. I read a previous review from someone else commenting on the bartender's demeanor. It probably should be mentioned that Steener's is a pub... a bar... not an Applebee's. A little cussing can be expected in my opinion. Don't let that deter you, the food I've had previously and in this takeout order have been top notch. read more

What a terrible restaurant. We started with cocktails that were not very good. Should have stuck with beer or wine. My wife's beef and mashed potatoes dish was supposed to have onions and red peppers, but few found. The beef was tough and over cooked. I had fish and chips. The fries were cold, soggy and shriveled, not at all edible. The fish was hot and tasty but the breading was terrible so I had to pass on eating any. What a disaster. I've only tried the chicken wings here, but this place is definitely as good as it gets when it comes to delicious Buffalo wings. They are also super personable on the phone. In the southern tier of New York, Steener's Pub is operating curbside during COVID and has things like prime rib and various specials throughout the week. However, all I can comment on are the wings. I tried their chicken wings with creamy ranch rub and an orange coating on them. With blue cheese on the side, of course! They were delightful and crispy. We've been meaning to go to Steeler's for years and finally found the opportunity for a late lunch. So glad we did! Quite an expansive menu - something for everyone. I had the pulled pork tacos and they were awesome - each topped with a hand dipped real onion ring. DH put together a really good burger with the myriad of choices from their burger "bar" (many topping choices) and another had a fabulous brisket sandwich. (I believe they smoke the meat in house.) Excellent service from friendly waitress Carrie (who was truly hustling to serve a busy bar and restaurant- and succeeding! Cool vibe but admittedly noisy. Note that the normal chef isn't there on Sunday's so we avoid that day if we can, but we went once on Sunday and it was still very good !
