Your agent will have access to subsidiaries of major insurance companies that you can't get insurance through. Often times they offer better rates than what you can find on the local market. They also do all the paperwork, file with your escrow company for home owners insurance, and you pay the agent NOTHING. NOTE: This agent will not proactively look for new/better rates when your insurance is expiring. So make sure you call a month before that time and ask them to research for you. We saved over $500 a year by doing this. There is no loyalty with insurance companies, so do not be afraid to switch year after year if the rates are better.

However, since they've moved just up the street from my current location, I've been in and called a few times, and was impressed with the improved experience. Last fall, I was involved with an accident that totaled my vehicle, and there was a hasty procurement of a replacement vehicle just before Thanksgiving. I walked into the Allstate office to add my new car to my policy, and four or five people greeted me all at once. They got my new vehicle added to my policy and I was on my way again in less than 20 minutes. A few months later, I had to call them again because apparently totaling one's vehicle doesn't automatically remove it from one's policy (a company-wide issue, not this particular office) and the representative on the phone quickly handled the request once I explained the situation. She followed up with an email confirming the transaction, and the request turned over in time to be adjusted before my next bill was due. I'm pleased with my current experience and plan on continuing with them as long as I'm in the area.
