We've been here numerous times both when we lived here five years ago and recently from this move here. This is such a cool neighborhood bar with great food, cold dry is, your favorite sporting event on and people who come time and time again. They made some updates to this place since the last time we lived here and they now have gold simulators! I went and checked it out and saw families playing, groups of friend and couples playing together. Such a cool and different concept to add but it was packed! We came here for happy hour and had an early dinner. The menu hasn't. Hanged much but they did have an extensive lent menu which I thought was great. I ordered the Reuben since it's that time of year and the flavor was amazing! I do love that they still offer free popcorn to the tables while you wait for your food. Came here for the first time. It was busy. There are tables, booths, and bar seating for options. Lots of tvs making every seat a good seat. I hate when one seat has a good view and the other doesn't at the same table. Our server was very kind and gave good recommendations. We shared a Rueben and the kielbasa/pierogies. Rueben was very good and not greasy. My fingers weren't left dripping. Also def recommended getting the chips. They r homemade. Will come back to try other items. Shawn's is a pretty cool place. Typical Irish pub atmosphere and a nice menu. Food was good but surprisingly not a lot of Irish food on the menu. Staff was friendly and attentive. Gotta give them 4 due to beer selection alone. Where other locations has more taps, the the more unique selections can be found here. Service is hit/miss. Bar is crowded. Minimal Covid precautions. Ok now i gotta take another star away. Get some dividers for the bar. Food is again hit or miss. The BBQ pork is good. Chicken noodle soup looks and tastes like the progresso in my cabinet. I stopped by after work to grab a drink and some take out. I sat down at the bar and ordered a drink and informed the bartender that I was contemplating ordering some take out. He brought my drink, then proceeded to pretend I didn't exist for over thirty (30) minutes. He kept passing me by, spent time talking with other staff, quickly pouring drinks for regulars, and never asking if I liked my drink, would like another one, needed anything, or was ready to order my takeout. Eventually I was able to flag him down. I ordered my food, and he verified I wanted it to go. Food took forever and when he brought it to me, guess what?......It was on a plate ready for me to eat. I had to remind him that it was to go. He disappeared for an inordinately long time (so long that I thought my food was being tampered with) then brought my food in a take out bag. I paid and left immediately. Despite literally living around the corner from Shawn's, I will never be returning, and I would recommend neither should you. Good Local Bar We just had Pretzel bites and brews. The bites were decent although I've had better. Don't get me wrong, we still enjoyed them and would get them again. My wife and I stopped in here for dinner. I was craving a salad and ordered the Farmers salad with the vinaigrette that comes with it. The salad came and was nicely loaded up with real bacon. Stopped in on way home from Chicago to catch the 2nd half of the Cleveland Browns game. Ordered Greek Chicken Chunks, Reuben Balls and fries. Food was mediocre at best. Reuben Balls were overcooked and lacked flavor, chicken was deep fried and not tender, and French Fries were mostly little scraps. Overall loss for both the Brown's and our meal. read more

I don't know why I always forget about Shawns. Maybe it's because it's in a strip mall? Their food is pretty decent. I haven't ever had a bad meal there and their menu is pretty balanced. I have had better mixed drinks but the prices are really reasonable so I won't complain. You get free popcorn to keep you thirsty. If you like sportsballs they have lots of TVs. I hear they have a patio or deck but I hate cigarettes so I have not seen it. I live near the Heatherdowns location so that's the only one I have been to but I believe there are 2 other locations? Boyfriend brought home a simple half cheese half pepperoni pizza and as you can see from the photo, it wasn't visually appetizing. This place has been here forever, I'm told. I am not native to Toledo, so this is a new treat for me. As soon as you are seated, your server brings you a little basket of fresh popcorn! I mean, who does that anymore?!? Beyond your average pub grub, this is the BEST food I've had from a tavern in a very long time. Their Irish Stew in a bread bowl is made from scratch and is comfort-food at its finest. They have a decent variety of national brands as well as a continually rotating selection of local craft and micro brews. Only complaint I can come up with is, it's a wait to get a table almost any night of the week because the place is so popular! read more

We got the last table in the house, by the front door, labeled The Worst Table In The House and got 10% off our bill... how cool is that? I would have purchased food if anyone would have asked me. Overall, the look of the place is a comfy sports bar but the service sucked. I sat down and was looking at the menu (tablets) but the hint must have been obscured. In general I don't think it's on the customer to "fight for his right to food". Put it together. Amazing place, close to home, visiting family, but bartender had bad attitude not sure if she was racist or not but everyone else was saying nice things about her not her coworkers she was very disrespectful and dismissive of me and my brother in law. I would not want her as a bartender at all. Cassie was her name she was awful we had to give the nice bartender a tip and no tip to her. First and foremost management needs to hire more staff with that being said it's a cool place with a great vibe. The food is ok, nothing really spectacular and that's unfortunate seeing as this place could kill it if it just hired a chef to teach the cooks how to cook what's on the menu. There is a vast selection of interesting food (perhaps that's the problem here) and plenty of the standard favorites (burgers, Reuben's etc. but a French dip not coming out on a baguette is slightly stupid to say the least. I get it, a twist on an obvious but the saying is "if it ain't broke don't fix it" and a French dip is was it is so don't twist it. Overall we had a great time, great waitress named Kyle and she might be the best ever, great beer, great selection of whisky etc. but just missing the point slightly. If you're in Toledo and you wanna watch sports and get drunk then this is your place. If you're ok with ok food then by all means enjoy Shawn's, other than that it's just another pub. read more

I want to give shawns Irish tavern more then 2 stars but unfortunately it was just a miss for me. Don't get me wrong the people are friendly and their Buffalo chicken dip is really good! They also bring out popcorn as the starter which is interesting because I've never seen that before and the popcorn itself isn't bad either. The reason I'm giving shawns Irish tavern 2 stars is because of the loaded chicken chunks. I don't know what it is but several places including shawns Irish tavern make it seem like the chicken chunks were just a leftover microwaved disaster waiting to be served. This is the best little sports bar in the city! The waitresses are friendly, attentive and make sure you are happy! My friends restaurant was closed for remodeling so I decided to go to Shawn's Irish Tavern. I have been here in the past but didn't remember how the food was. Appetizer was breaded mild chicken wings. Although the wings were basic with the sauce on the side, the mild sauce was pretty good. The wigs were crisp and cooked perfectly. We ordered a bacon mushroom burger which was very good. Great sauteed mushrooms, crisp bacon, and a perfectly cooked medium rare burger. I ordered a Greek salad and expected the typical bar food type salad. Tiny sloppily made with cheap black olives. When I received this salad, it was plated very nicely piled high with feta, diced tomato, cucumbers, and sweet red onion, and to my surprise my favorite olives (and tons of them) Kalamata's Yay!! The dressing was a mild vinaigrette but perfect for all the various flavors that are on this type of salad. Our third item was a Taco Salad, typical but very huge, with chunky taco meat. This was actually better than most Mexican restaurants taco salads. Now a for our service, we had a young server named Emily W. who was amazing. Emily kept our drinks full, when taking our order she did everything right to ensure we got what we ordered. We found out that she was a new server and that this was her first job. She was phenomenal with the right amount of service, never pushy, always smiling, and very attentive to all our needs. Either Emily is one of those rare servers that come along who are perfect servers or she had an amazing trainer. Kudos to whoever. We were so pleased that this is our new favorite casual dining restaurant. The prices are very reasonable meals our meals were all under $10.00 each. read more
