A friend of mine and I had the pleasure of Dining at Sidelines Sports Eatery & Pub in Maumee (OH) this past Friday evening. My friend and I had Ordered the Patty Melt with string fries. I cannot recall the last time I had a meal that tasted better! The service was also second to none! A huge "shout-out" to the Cook, Sean Glidden, and his culinary expertis! The breaded mushrooms were the strangest thing I've had in a long time . First , the appearance is so unappealing . The mushrooms were almost black in color . Even though you don't see a lot of minorities which you should the food is pretty good I love the pizza and potato skins.

I've been to Sidelines Maumee about 20 times going back to the old location at the corner of Holland & Dussel (Luxe laser now). My favorites are the ribs, fowl balls and chicken bacon ranch pizza. This trip I tried the roast beef and gravy sandwich with mashed potatoes. Unfortunately, it was not great. The beef and bread were okay, but the gravy had an off taste. Was it medicinal or plastic-y? Maybe both. Tasted like the container it was microwaved in. Mashed potatoes were the powder variety. Hey, sides here are only $2.59 - cheap by today's standards. Packo's roast beef and gravy blows this away. We also got cole slaw, a side salad, waffle fries and steak fries, all decent. The pretzel appetizer was a miss as the ends were hard and accompanying queso dip was flavorless and too small. Try Lucky's in Oregon for a phoenomenal pretzel app. The star of the order... the barbecue fowl balls were delicious. They are surely prepped in-house and ours were freshly made. Only quibble with these is at $13.78 including a side of ranch, they are overpriced. Same thing at Jed's costs $10. At least you get a big portion. A suggestion to management would be to add a point of sale to the hostess station. You know, get carryout customers on their way a little faster. Ch ch chaaaaain. Yep its another sport bar chain. Been a few times, odd service. Asked to sit outside and the host looked at my a little strange. It was summer, it was open. Offered to even just come inside to the bar for drinks. She gave us a server So both visits have been during beginning of football season and we sit on the patio. They actually have a large TV out there and will put on the game of your choice. Inside has lots of TVs but too hectic to be competing with the Browns fans. Its going to take a while and usually at least 2 people to figure how to get the game on. Food: Well we got some chicken chunks 1 time. Just not very flavorful. Its bar food. After that we just go n get drinks. Service is slow on the patio and I went in to find somebody at 1 point so that needs work. Would recommend for drinks and the patio for sports. Average chain sports bar. Nothing more or less to really say about it. Ordered the marinaded chicken that had zero marinade or seasoning. Just call it chicken if that's what it's going to be. Place was clean and pretty busy considering it was the middle of the day. I only had a couple of adult beverages and my buddy had Chicken Chunks of some sort and said they weren't very good and wouldn't order them again. 1st time here. We just wanted a drink and some bar food to watch the Browns game. We ordered the loaded fries, mozz sticks, and medium hot chicken chunks. The fries must have been hanging out awhile before we got them because the cheese was all congealed, the fries cold and soggy AND I found a hair stuck in them. If they had been hot and hair free they would have been good. The chicken chunks were OK but I couldn't taste the thin sauce at all so they were disappointing. Came here a few times on lunch, one day you'll have your food within 20 minutes and quick service then another day you'll have 10 minutes left to scarf by the time you get your food. Seating was fairly quick, food was okay, my waffle fries were cooked right but kids and wife's were way overcooked. Let me begin by saying that we have never been disappointed by the food or the service. Our waitress on Wednesday night was amazing. However, I have a disability in which I'm sensitive to sound. I let her waitress know because it was trivia night and the music was so loud that it not only caused problems with my disability, but it hurt both mine and my husband's ears and made it difficult to hear the waitress or the waitress hear us or talk among ourselves. I asked the waitress if she could ask the trivia gentleman to turn the music down. She explained to me that she has asked before due to other guests request and the trivia guy said no. So I requested that she go to her manager and ask her manager to get it turned down because it was causing issues with my disability. She came back to the table and she told us the manager said no, but when she explained he did turn it down, however, five minutes later went back to full blast. I've always enjoyed going sidelines, but I shouldn't have to avoid a certain nights due to a disability. I'm letting you know this because I hope in the future sidelines will do better with those that have disabilities such as mine. read more

I swear this establishment has the best wings in town! They are so good and they melt in your mouth! I would say that sharing 10 is plenty because they are quite filling. This was a first time visit for me so keep that in mind. I do not live in the area but several people remarked on the ribs and the wings. Since I am lover of both, I figured I would give it a try. I did, in fact, order both (Wings and Ribs) and while I was far from disappointed... I can't go shouting from the rooftops about the food. It's was ok. Nothing was like... OMG!!! or these are off the hook!!!! But... I'd encourage you to see/try for yourself. We all have a different tastes. In all? The service was amicable. The place is a bit, needlessly, dark but otherwise agreeable. They do a good job with their TVs and game variety. My only true disappointment was with their digital menus on tablets. Just to be clear... I LOVE menus on tablets. But these were disgusting! Sticky, old fingerprints, food droppings... I mean... if you're going to leverage this great idea; please - PLEASE- maintain the tablets. Wipe them down. Keep them clean. Tablets notwithstanding, I will visit again. As a former kitchen worker, I have been wrestling with my moral compass over the fact that I should reveal back of house practices to the customers. During my employment, I can count on one hand the amount of times I saw line cooks wearing gloves during the preparation of food, if a fryer item was dropped, they would toss it back in the fryer to "kill the germs" and consistently disregard standard food prep guidelines (thawing food with warm water, cross contamination, leaving food uncovered and exposed to air for lengthy periods of time, etc). I have warned all my friends and family not to eat there and would warn everyone else to stay away. This is the typical sports bar/pub, a million TV's, smells like stale beer from the taps and beer soaked laminate flooring which shows swelling from the suddzy liquid. We have been here 3 times. They offer the The Toledo Famed Chicken Chunks lightly breaded, not bad. The burgers are average most likely preformed patty which un-natuaralized the texture of a true American burger making it chewy. Now the Beef Philly. Not many places can get this right. Either the meat is horrible or the bread is cheap or tough to chew. Sidelines has it almost right! Add some mayo and this sandwich is perfect The beef is grilled just right and topped with caramelized onions and melted mozzarella cheese. It is huge and is too much to eat with the chewy waffle fries you get with it. Skip the fries and eat the sammich!! If you desire the chewiness of waffle fries then eat half of the sandwich and take the other part home. I decided to write this review because I had the cold half this morning and was amazed of the flavor it had. This was absolutely the best left over hot sandwich I ate cold. (Try to make sense of that). This last visit we were given a tablet with the menu on it. Not to order but to look at picture and read descriptions of the foods available. I clicked on; KNOCK-OUT - $10.99 Forget the bun. Our 1/2 lb burger in between TWO grilled cheese and bacon sandwiches! The picture looked like something I wanted to eat and suffer from later with food coma. I order this medium rare, the whole time all I could do is think how I would enjoy every bite of this amazing looking sandwich. When it came to the table it was like finally meeting a blind date, the excitement went away. It was half the size of the picture and the meat was well done. The description was to the tee however excluding the part about the dry chewy meat patty. I ate it, rinsing it down with my tea while I watched my wife enjoy half of her amazing Philly. Went last Friday around 8pm. They were very busy as it is trivia night. We were seated in about 15 minutes which I didn't feel was a bad wait time. Upon being seated we were promptly greeted and drink order was taken. Got our drinks and appetizer very quickly but it was downhill after that. First, the mojo dip appetizer is my favorite thing there but the portion is very small for the price. It is somewhere between $8-$10 and you get a large amount of pita chips with a small portion of dip. Do yourself a favor and just go next door to GFS and get a tub of it for $15 and have it at home when you have a craving. Next, our drinks were not refilled. Our waitress came back to the table a few times but never offered a refill and when we would attempt to ask, she was already gone. Finally, I live just a few minutes away and barely made it home before my dinner made a grand exit. I had the mojo dip appetizer, and half of a turkey reuben with hard waffle fries. No alcohol was consumed either but something in the food hit me like a ton of bricks. My friends daughter also complained that she was not feeling well after eating. read more

Frequented Sidelines restaurant for the second time in over 10 years, second visit similar to first, which should explain why the lack of visits, nothing to provoke frequency. Food is bland, flavorless, and poorly executed. Many creative ideas, but without proper execution - meaningless. Fowl balls, creative approaches to an ordinary menu selection. Wife ordered fowl balls with mash potatoes, very creative application but balls were over cooked, mash potatoes were pasty, gravy however was done pretty well, not enough mind you to carry the dish. I ordered the perch dinner as recommended by a patron. Recommendation proved to be misplaced, absolutely no seasoning to the fish, cooked moderately well, but flavorless - a sign the fish had sat to long before preparing and presentation. The coleslaw was limp and lifeless, a complete loss to a simple and enjoyable dish. The fries, though good, not to order, knowing they're streak fries, asked for extra crispy (or well done), came out as ordinary. Drink prices, though comparable, still to high. Beer and wine choices are limited, ordinary and comparable, which means if you have an above average palette forget it, order water. I enjoy a deep flavorful brew, porter, stout, top of line lager, not to be found on their offerings. Also like a nice wine to complement my meal, once again, sorry about your luck, absolutely no understanding of pairing. Bottom line, great ordinary, mediocre, nothing special, substance to stuff in your mouth eatery. My recommendation is, If you're not desperate, look else where's. read more
