You can also find some very good prices on things if you watch for sales Their produce has not let me down yet, which is a great concern to me in terms of going somewhere to shop, and the cashiers are very efficient, even with long lines. Not all of their staff always seems like the most pleasant sorts, but then again, I go there either early morning or late night. Can't blame 'em. Whoever the whackadoodle reviewer is for giving Shaws only 3 stars because of some food they no longer carry (Girl, it's out of their control!) makes me sad because this Shaws and the other one in town are THE BEST! Service is great, their specials and loyalty app make them affordable and their FRESH PASS is the best anywhere...we get free delivery always, extra Rewards and all kinds of other benefits for $13 a month. Whenever I have had any issues of any kind with Fresh Pass, I just call Becky or Bobette and they fix everything! Today we were blown away to find the groceries delivered by Mike at the Railroad Avenue location, expertly before 8am even though my husband had not shoveled the snow off our steps yet. He and Ilda and Autumn got all of our groceries wrapped with love and care, making sure the meat was wrapped so as not to leak, and just making us feel like the only customers in the world. Amazing store!!! I live far away but to be able to go online and order things for my Aunt who is 94, have it delivered gives me peace of mind. My Aunt loves this place and still shops there monthly but its getting harder for her to get around especially the winter months. I used to only shop at Market Basket and I thought this store was overpriced and with too limited a selection. My husband however, convinced me to give it a try and since then, we almost only ever shop here! They manage to get in a great variety of products, in spite of their small space, the management and employees are wonderful, and they have an awesome app and great specials that allow us to spend no more than we would at the bigger grocery stores in town. We especially appreciate one of the managers Rhonda, who went out of her way recently to look for something that they were out of on the shelves. I had a lot of questions that day and Rhonda patiently spent time listening to me and helping me find what I needed in a hurry. Darmina in the deli and Everett and Sammy and Marcos at the register stand out as well. Finally, this store has a wonderful day-old baked good section that has everything half-price! read more

Tonight was a travesty. I am shaken to the core. I, a mere vegan gay simpleton was denied entry into this Shaw's tonight. My gay behind arrived promptly at 9:19 PM, EST. I galloped to the door, expecting them to part when I stood before them, but, like my sexuality, this was not in God's plan. When my homosexual face kissed the glass doors, I was shocked and disturbed when they did not open! I had been mislead and fed lies by the Shaw's hours available on the internet. I, a gay, was under the impression I would have 41 perfectly gay minutes to peruse their selection of vegan frozen goods, considering my arrival time of 9:19 PM EST. Oh, how wrong was I! While the website said 10 PM EST, the doors said 9 PM EST. I will not stand for this unacceptable slander that Shaw's has presented on their site. This is a new, cleaned up grocery store. LIke all the other major grocery stores, aisles of food. What I like about this one is the large selection of natural products. The Wild Harvest section is a delight compared to the "natural" section in other stores. The store is close to the railway station making it great for picking up the goods on the way home. read more

This downtown store is smaller than the one on Eastern Avenue and, therefore, is limited to the stock they can carry. Since they have no choice but to do things this way, their produce department has, mostly, packaged products. This prevents me, a single person from picking loose products and I wind up wasting food each week. Their meat department is the same way, larger packages of meat, no individual solutions. Their deli & fish departments allow you to order small amounts, but, don't believe it if their ad says "Fresh Fish" most of their fish arrives frozen and is not purchased from local sources. Most of the employees are very nice, however, you must watch the baggers. They will toss as much into a bag and move on. I've gotten home and found products that shouldn't be in a bag together. ie: Ice Cream and Cotton Candy. One person, just yesterday, ask if I wanted everything in the same bag, I requested she keep heavy things in one bag and she stuffed everything in anyway. So half credit for asking, but listening is more important. read more
