Needed some extra things while camping. Stumbled upon Shaws. It was close. The food we needed, it had, at a bit of an extra cost but it had them. Used self service because the full service lines were rather long. Normally I go to full service. Shaws may have been a bit under staffed today but the self serve was great! Highly recommend. The ambiance of the grocery store is well, it's a grocery store. If you need some last minute items Shaws is your spot! Will return if supplies run low! read more

Always swing in here when I'm on the Cape. Great selections of food at the deli counter and bakery area. Loads of staff to help with questions or perhaps just a few employees that seemed to be everywhere lol. The store is very clean and well organized. Very impressed with their aisles being tidy and clean. Produce department is really well-kept. Cashiers could be a bit friendlier.

Most people coming off Route 6 go directly to the Stop and Shop at the rotary. That's what we always did to stock up before heading to the vacation house. We discovered the Shaws in Orleans and we are glad we did. On the Saturday before the 4th of July the store was really well stocked and well staffed. The employees were pleasant and helpful. They knew who their customers were, vacationers getting all the things they needed for a long weekend or a week. The women at the deli counter were very pleasant and fun to interact with. They kept calm even when they were so busy. Checkout was efficient. They helped us back out groceries and get everything into the cart. Shaws in Orleans is our Go To place from here on in! read more

Ok, sometimes I feel like I am on candid camera when I'm in line for checkout. There's a clerk, Helen, that is a perpetual complainer, loudly..."of course I am not happy, I am cashier in a grocery store!" Overheard while checking out in the next line over. This is usual behavior for Helen. She's kind of a major character!! My clerk was totally opposite however, barely able to make eye contact whilst the bag guy was the happiest and most organized person ever! I'm retired and not in any hurry so I find it all amazing and fun! And I love Shaws! read more

Cross between Nob Hill food and a Whole Foods market...what a great clean, well-managed, comprehensive market filled with fresh everything...nice layout and well-stocked. Parking lot is plentiful and very easy to get to from Brewster Green...we scrapped plans this AM to hit the famed WHOI and the ferry to Marthas Vineyard from Woods Hole when we awoke at 9am and saw the rain and crappy weather. thus, I was searching for a Redbox to watch the Fighter, and Shaws has one!! Not further than a 12 minute drive from BG resort off Lund Farm. great find! Lots of quality organic brands...we actually found Lundberg organic porcini risotto to go with our fresh lobster, shrimp, and scrod dinner tonight! Love markets like this read more

This Shaw's needs to hire people who speak English. Getting fed up with having to explain ourselves multiple times for simple requests (''may I have the 2nd piece of swordfish from the top; I'd like that lobster cooked please; where are the bathrooms?"). When you ask a question about the items they sell here, the staff should know where they are and verbally describe how to get to them. Mumbling and pointing does not cut it. The manager here is useless, cranky & hurried. Grumbles about everything, blames the customer for errors. Not a fan of Stop & Shop, this is the next best thing in the area. Friends market is nice, but lacks the selection or quantity of most items, not to mention much higher prices. Bottom line: do not hire people unable to speak/comprehend the English language, then put them in a position of dealing with the public. It's a grocery store, not a language classroom. read more

Sick and tired of paying top dollar for groceries and having problem after problem. 6:30 pm Tuesday - 2 registers open. 1 full service , 1-20 items or less. Long lines. When I got home, loaf of bread, all my cold cuts and cheese under 10 bottles of Gatorade. I saw her starting to do it, intervened and told her not to do that but at the same time I was trying to watch the cashier cuz he was overcharging me for another item. I was already aggravated because I was in the middle of my deli order when two other employees approached the girl doing my order and proceeded to have an argument in front of all the customers. My girl stopped doing my order while she argued with the other two. This is poor service folks. Personally, I've had enough. Market basket here I come. read more

What a nightmare. I live near a Market Basket but am in Orleans for a month. The prices are outrageous. Many items were easily double what I pay at home. Meat selection is abysmal. All sorts of games with pricing. You need their app to get 'coupon' prices. Takes forever to shop just checking prices. Package of 6 English muffins priced at $4.50. I said that must be wrong. Huge display. Nope. That is the price. I have no idea how people pay these prices. The only way to feed your family responsibly is to purchase what Shaw's wants you to purchase. The excuse of being on Cape is ridiculous. I never shop at Shaw's at home due to the prices. If a MB opened up in Dennisport or Orleans, Shaw's would be in huge trouble overnight. It will be worth it to drive the 45 minutes to MB at the bridge. What a pain! read more

I am a fast fan and supporter of Shaw's Market in Orleans. However, today I visited the fish market there and ordered 1 pound of scallops, on sale for $14.99. I specified 1 pound. The young man who waited on me deliberately crammed as many scallops as he could into the container, and when weighed, it showed 1.3 pounds. Instead of $14.99 I was charged $18.99. I suggested to him that there was more than 1 pound in the container. His response, with an attitude, was "No, I was leaning on the scale." And he handed me the purchase. I should have persevered and asked him to re-measure and re-charge; but I was so angry that I just went on... In the past, everywhere I've bought food goods by weight, a well-mannered and well-trained clerk would always ask if a little overage was OK. Of course, I would always say yes. Nice selection of groceries typical of a Shaw's. Prices are a little steep as you are on Cape Cod, a big summer tourist area. Between here and Stop and Shop;, you should be good to go. Nothing cheaper in Orleans, Eastham , or Wellfleet. read more

Never ever buy fish in this store!! I bought scallops for Friday supper. They were sold in pint sized containers for about $15. The top two thirds were largish scallops. The bottom third can only be described as scallop sludge. If that was not bad enough, they self steamed from all the added water and if THAT is not bad enough, the metal wire that my daughter bit into, left us all deciding that a vegetarian dinner would be just great. Other than the fish, the store might get a three. Little or no local produce, so,so bakery and high prices. The only reason to shop there is for the in house roasted cold cuts. read more

Insulted! Imagine shopping at the same grocery store, week after week, year after year....cashing a check to pay for your groceries and be told that their policy had changed. i had brought to the register about one hundred dollars worth of groceries, took out my check to pay and told I had to now write out check and provide ID. I had stuck a check in my pocket and ran out without my wallet. I was told to go home and get my ID and I could have my groceries.....a wild March weather outside and 30 min. Round trip! Are you kidding me? Policy changed 2 days before with no previous notification. What really amazes me is that I shopped out of state with a check, got cash back and never had to provide ID....automatic withdrawal from my account. Needless to say I had a few unsavory comments. Good selection typical of any shaws but the staff literally know where nothing is. There was one really amazing cashier and she was excellent (long dark hair and name started with a "d" I think). She was quick, friendly, and hospitable. The rest of the staff did not seem to know where anything was. I was sent a few different places for things and none were the right aisles. And one girl flat up told me you didn't have something when you did. She looked like she didn't want to be bothered and was opening case stock near the first couple aisles closest to the produce department. Overall it could use some staff adjustments. Staff should be knowledgable or what's the point. read more

I'm a food snob and I'll be the first to admit it. I'm also from Orange County, CA the land of Whole Foods, Mothers Market etc. where everyone drinks green kale juices and eats gluten free. My family and I were staying on the Cape and I thought that my only hope for groceries was Trader Joes 45 min away. I eventually came across Shaw's by having to stop at CVS in the same shopping center. Let me just say WOW was not expecting that at all!! They had EVERYTHING from a wide range of gluten free products to earth best organics diapers. They put the trader joes to shame. It's a one stop shop for everything you could possibly want or need. The cashiers etc. are great. However, every time I need to go to Customer Service, I am astounded at the incompetence and rudeness on display. The first time, my husband and I went to drop off a package for Fedex. This is a service Shaw's advertises. The young woman at the desk didn't have a clue how to scan in the package. She seemed annoyed by our very presence. She finally suggested that we leave the package there and that "the Fedex guy" would take it on his next visit. Not willing to leave a valuable item (since she wouldn't/couldn't give us a receipt) we had to drive to another business to make our return. Today, I went to the desk to ask for a Rain Check. The male clerk appeared to be annoyed and cranky before I uttered a word. I explained that I was referring to an ONLINE coupon, but the concept appeared beyond him. He wanted me to tell him specifics about the product - having, apparently, no access to any information about offers made by his employer. He was rude, ignorant and incompetent. Is working at Customer Service a demotion at Shaw's? I complained to a manager onsite and got little satisfaction there. It is no wonder that Stop &Shop- the only real competition in a town like Orleans- is always busy, and Shaw's a virtual ghost town. read more

Best supermarket in Orleans, by far. Fresh, meat, produce. Hint to getting in and out quickly: go on Sunday mornings when all the seniors are at church. They used to have a sign saying Apple Pay now available. I got in a habit of using Apple Pay at this location, using my phone to pay. The past two times I've used Apple Pay at this location I've been surrounded by employees. This last time I was asked for some kind of number associated with the Apple Pay and when I asked what the employee meant he then said he had to do something else a yelled SECURITY! Some other employee the came over nervous. Mumbled some things about my MA Drivers license. I then scribbled a signature after showing her my debit card. Although overall Shaw's is doing a good job and quality of meats fairly good (not as good as Friendly's Marketplace in Orleans, however) I have been very disappointed with the attitude of the decision-maker in the fish department after I called to his attention that I had purchased a two-pound bag of frozen jumbo scallops (because I was concerned about the "freshness" of the so-called "fresh" scallops at the price of $18. per pound. Note: I'm a seasoned, well educated cook and a grandmother. I explained to him that fish "never" is soaked in water and therefore, should never be "injected" with water. (I read the front page of the plastic bag, but did not read the back which when I returned the jumbo scallops had printed "water added." What a shock. No wonder when I tried to saute the scallops as usual after giving a light coat of dusting with flour, the scallops did not crisp on the exterior and instead proceeded to express a good deal of water thereby making it impossible to properly saute the scallops over medium-high heat in butter. Nevertheless, the person in charge of ordering the scallops said he will continue to order the water-filled scallops (thereby adding to the weight of course) so the purchaser is fooled twice. He admits he sells one of these frozen scallops to every thirteen (13) purchasers of the fresh scallops he calls "dry." Make your own decision, of course, but I don't believe that any decent cook would be happy with the jumbo scallops by Bayside Bistro (premium Hokkaido) "water added." Whoever heard of adding water to shell fish or any fish for that matter. Any well-educated or experienced cook would be shocked. knowing that fish cookbooks warn: "never soak fish in water."
