I wish I could give this zero stars. I placed two orders (one on my account and the other on my husband's account). These two orders were canceled without explanation. I called the number provided in the cancellation email. They told me the orders were canceled by the store I wanted to pick up the product from. I called the store, and they told me it was out of their hands. The orders were canceled from the corporate level. I called back the number I first called for help. They told me they would send my case to a special team to investigate, then I should get a call from them within 24 - 48 hours. Surprisingly, my account and my husband's account were deactivated the next day. I called them back, but they kept letting me wait and hanging up on me. I can't believe how terrible the customer service was and how they handled the issue. Be aware and stay away from this store. read more

Long time market basket customer started branching out. MB prices have shot up after they fired their long time ceo and I thought to give this price a try. The place is clean and modern and I found the prices on par and in some cases beating MB. I'll shop both places for now..let's see who becomes my fav.. read more

This store is TERRIBLE the manager Jess is HORRIBLE!!!! She is Very rude to me when I'm in there she accuses me of stealing but cops never called I was in there today with my 8yr old niece who was driving the electric cart due to a foot injury and Jess came up to me and yelled GET OUT my poor niece panicked and jumped out the electric cart and grabbed her crutches almost falling over and being terrified! I bit my tongue and we walked out I'm following up with Corporate and higher up until she is gone!!!!! I would give it 0 stars if I could!!!! read more

The majority of the employees are very unfriendly and very miserable. I am very disappointed with the very snobby employee who was between in the frozen section and the bread section and he is around in his early 40s and he is very unfriendly. I heard him using foul language that is very inappropriate in public. Also, my friend went to go ask the meat department employee, if they sell the kind of meat that she was looking for and he responded with a very rude attitude like this: WE DON'T HAVE THAT!!!!! Why are they letting people shop there without a mask on? I was in there yesterday and seen to senior citizens shopping without mask.

As of June 15th - 2023; Cons of this store out-weigh the pros, and I'll give my reasoning: The employees work like they're part of some cult, their attitudes and customer service are all equally aligned with each other; Rude, Lethargic in movement, and scornfully stubborn. The lady who works the service desk in the mornings on the weekdays is very rude, shallow attitude when working at the desk and glares that are nothing less of intimidating. The cleanliness of this store is only seen when asked to do so; when it gets so bad the chrome lining outside the store windows is caked with pollen or dead insects, the window sills inside the carousels always have dead insects and dust covering it, the milk pans inside the dairy coolers are always smeared with dried up milk; not to mention the glass doors, which are always splattered with milk residue; I give the cleanliness of this place a -100/10. Lets get to the bottom of the barrel; Store Management and Human Resources; They share condescending attitudes towards customers and hard working employees; when they are amongst each other chit-chatting away, they belittle and tarnish their employees reputation; (in front of other employees and even customers) by laughing and joking about the productivity of their employees, instead of trying to fix the issue they make it worse by letting their hive mind thinking of superiority complex do what they can to make themselves look better in the end, while the wellbeing of the store and will of the employees who want to work there diminish. Pete Lamar, the previous store manager, whom I have spoken too, seemed to have known what he was doing other than his replacement, the store was cleaner, the general cleanliness was consistently and thoughrouly maintained, there were front-end managers and CSR staff who were at least 20 years of age (not a angst teenager) and happy employees who were valued with great attitudes and leadership. I have been shopping at this store for 10 years, I have even worked in grocery store, and I have never seen an establishment that once flourished as much as this store did take a tumble down a hill slope as fast as this one has, in 2 years. Shaws Plaistow used to be such a great store, it is such a shame to see what it has become and I grieve for it's future. read more

The new shaws is in a better location but the inside is depressing. It looks neat I guess, but the colors are so dark and dreary. It feels like a worn down warehouse, yet it was just renovated. I kinda miss it when it was across the street, but im glad they built up this run down plaza, it looks so much better now. read more

They moved across the street in October. The new store is bigger, better, more confusing. Why is squash with the fruit? Hopefully I'll be able to find things soon. 4 stars because they're better than Market Basket and the produce lasts longer. It's still no Whole Foods, but I don't think Whole Foods would do well in Plaistow. read more

Typical grocery store. I like their general products, however i find the prepared foods at Market Basket to be superior. This store used to have a self checkout area which helped to speed things up but they got rid of it. I realize it's good from an employment standpoint, but it adds to the length of their lines. There never seem to be enough cashiers either. read more

For years I've had friends tell me they shop at Shaws for the produce. I'll tell you why they shop there...they're snobs. They don't shop there anymore. I took the time to do my regular shopping at MB (64 items) and then price the same items at Shaws and Hannafords. The latter was 6% more expensive. Shaws was TWENTY-SIX (26) percent more expensive! Not a single item at Shaws was cheaper--even those on sale! The produce might be displayed all fancy, but I don't think the quality nor selection is any different. read more

Can't beat the prices. Use double coupons, ibotta, and mymixx and you have a better real deal than that feuding family down the way- plus a much better meat, produce, and dairy selection. Amen. And don't shop here cause I like my naked aisles. read more

I love their fresh fish. That's what I go for and Udi's granola. Checking out is a major pain and the warehouse feel is pretty awful.

I do want to update my negative review of Shaws. The manager contacted me. He said he spoke with staff about the what I observed. He also sent me a gift card and encouraged me to come back. read more

Just left Shaw's in Plaistow. Prices are OUTRAGEOUS!! Some items are double the price of Market Basket. Thought they were gouging their customers because of what's happening with Market Basket but people in their said prices are always like that. Hope Market Basket settles their feud real soon as I'm sure other people like myself just cannot afford Shaw's. TOTAL RIPOFF!! read more

Absolutely horrible. Used to love this store. Clean, well stocked. Older employees who were competent and polite. Now there's young people..hanging in groups discussing their after hour plans who are put out when you ask for help. Shelves are not stocked, frozen food section is full of open bags of frozen vegetables that have spilled and not been cleaned up. This week I was in at 8:00pm...two lanes open..at least 15 people in each. The "10 Items or Less" sign was so dimly lit I didn't notice until I was next in line (I had 36). I attempted to back up and the nice man in back of me said "Don't be silly"...I hesitated and asked the cashier (the only seasoned employee there). I apologized, explaining I hadn't seen the sign. "No problem. I don't care" She responded. Fine...I quickly paid and left..to be verbally accosted by my car..such vulgar language and rage I've never experienced in my 60 years. Was this Shaw's fault. No, not directly, but the lack of supervisors created the situation. In fact the supervisor couldn't have been more than 20 and just smiled as she walked back and forth looking at the long lines of customers. The quality of Shaw's has totally deteriorated in the 30 years I've lived here. I will not be shopping there again. read more

This Shaw's like all Shaw's supermarkets is so hard to find anything there stock everywhere and most of the time there out of what you want and Any ways the prices on most things are very high I will never ship here again read more

Shaw's is the worst! Over priced doesn't really tell the story. Items consistently cost 25-50% more than Market Basket. Seriously, check it out. Take 5 things at random and price them at Market Basket. Their gas discount loyalty program is on an extremely tight budget! It disappears for weeks at a time.They are often out of basic pantry items (no garlic). I'll give it a few points for location and cleanliness (Market Basket can make you gag on occasion). There is a decent if way overpriced bakery. The deli is outrageously overpriced $8-$10 cold cuts are the norm. We try to make it to Hannaford but they often have problems keeping things in stock too. Plaistow must be the minor leagues for the grocery store chains. read more

Only go there when I absolutely have to. I will never understand why I have to pay double the price (at all Shaw's stores) to shop in a dark, empty cement floor store and then have to check myself out as there is never more than one register open. With the prices they charge, you should be able to park your car and be escorted into the store and have them bring your groceries home and put them away. Like it because it is always empty though :) read more
