Today I received some of the best customer service I have ever received from a local shop. My wife's ZX2 stopped on Hwy 35 and AAA recommended Shaw's Tire and Auto to service it. I, however did not need a recommendation, because I have been taking my cars to Bobby Shaw for the last 7 years. He has always over communicated... Calling to ask me if I wanted the cheap, mid level or best part to replace the failed part... I love that he gives me the choice. I know in advance what my bill is going to be, and he always calls if he finds something out of place that may need my attention in the future. Like today... He replaced the fuel pump and the alternator... But when he had it on the rack... He noticed that the outside tie-rod was about to fall off... So he called, knowing in was tight on my finances, he offered me some options. I NEVER write reviews... But today... You can't seem to stop me... I'm so impressed, yet again, with the service, that I'm blasting the sites with happy reviews! Please, if you value your time and money... Bobby and Kristen are wonderful business owners. We have always felt that they have gone the extra mile in making sure we left as satisfied customers. Shaw's is a great business and has always stood by their work, even on something as minor as a tire repair. We have always been impressed with their quality work and fair prices. We live in Bigfork and wanted to give the local shop a try to support local businesses. I called to schedule an oil change and to have a wiper arm repaired a few days before the actual day of the repair. We took the car in on Wednesday and, again, clearly stated we wanted the passenger wiper arm repaired (this was told to this shop TWICE). When we called to pick the car up on Thursday, we found out that they did NOT repair the wiper arm, and that my sons would have to travel back to Bozeman in a blizzard, with just one working wiper, on Friday. Mrs. Shaw just apologized and told me that I could take the car to the dealership in Kalispell to get it fixed. Sadly, I have to say I would NOT recommend this shop to anyone, based not on the mis-communication, but on their effort to help us get our problem fixed, when they dropped the ball. read more

If you want to flush your money down the toilet and get terrible customer service as well, this is the place to go. If it was possible to give 0 stars, I would do so. Shaw's Tire & Auto is a joke and a rip off and should not be allowed to be in business. Here is, with no exaggeration, my recent experience: I dropped my Toyota off on a Monday at about 4pm because it was having steering issues. The steering was tight and I suspected power steering pump, but since I am not a mechanic, I took it in. I explain to both Bobby and Kristen the problem with my truck and also told them that I could not afford an expensive repair, so I needed a diagnosis before they fixed it. I also told them that I could not afford to be more than a day or two without my truck as I have things to get done that required a truck. 3 days later, Thursday about 4pm, I got a call from Bobby. I had to go down to the shop so he could show me the problem. It was not the power steering pump, he said, but ball joints. I was informed that it would be $530 to fix them and I authorized the repair. He of course, had to order parts, but assured me he could have it fixed by Friday afternoon, which was good for me since I had been without my vehicle all week and needed it for the weekend. Friday afternoon about 4:30pm I get another call from Bobby. Instead of telling me to come pick up my vehicle, he informed me that it was NOT the ball joints, but the rack and pinion for the steering. Not only was another day wasted in ordering the wrong parts, now new parts had to be ordered and my $530 repair had turned into $750. Further, since he had it all torn apart I had no option of putting off the repair. He told me he would have it done by Monday. Monday came and went with no word at all. On Tuesday morning, I called asking for my truck. I was told he was still 'fiddling' with it. Tuesday at 4:30pm, I was told I could come pick it up by 5pm. Since I had to ride to get there, I had to wait until Wednesday morning to pick it up, a full 8 days after I took it in. When I got there, Bobby informed me that while he replaced the rack, it did not fix my problem at all and my steering was just as bad as when he started working on it, 8 days and $750 ago. I asked him if I had basically spent a bunch of money that I couldn't afford to NOT fix anything and he said 'yes.' On my way out he said 'sorry'. I have had a lot of different mechanics work on a lot of different vehicles over the years. I have NEVER been treated like this in my life, nor have I ever heard of anyone being treated like this. I explicitly stated that I could not afford a large repair and since my car was drive-able, there was no reason I couldn't have put it off until I saved some money. To just guess at the problem and charge somebody for a repair THAT FIXED NOTHING is inexcusable. If you don't know what you are doing, just say so and let me find a mechanic would does have a clue. To charge a customer for YOUR mistake is just plain wrong and dishonest. An honest mechanic would have simply charged me for the parts that were replaced and forgone the labor since it was spent fixing something that didn't need fixing. Hell, I could have replaced the battery hoping that would fix my steering. I took it to what I THOUGH was a qualified mechanic instead and I got screwed for my trouble. So, to recap: I was without my truck for well over a week when I really needed it. I spent $750 that I couldn't afford fixing something that didn't need fixing and I still have a steering problem with my truck. I now cannot afford to take it to a real mechanic.
