They told me they were just about to call me (which didn't feel genuine), and instead of offering a refund or even a partial compensation, they only said I could come back and they would "fix" it. But at that point, I had lost confidence in their technique and judgment. Mistakes happen -- I understand that. But when a salon uses your hair for trial-and-error without the skill to back it up, and then refuses to take accountability, it's not okay. As a salon, this salon is really quite nice, airy and open, and seems to have all the amenities I need. Mostly, I would just like to sing my praises of Kyra Rouser. Before I moved to Lawrence, I had had the same hair dresser since I was 8 years old (I was 22 when I moved to Lawrence). I was frightened off by two salons before I finally came to Kyra, a puffy mess of Latina hair, upset and scared as to who would touch my hair next. I was not disappointed. Even though she didn't get my hair cut right the very first time (I have VERY difficult to cut, thick, wavy hair that does WEIRD things), she took the time to write down everything she could about my hair, and was sure to educate me on what it was that I was trying to describe was what I liked. Having someone truly work with you on your hair is a liberating experience. She takes the time out to remember details about my life, and honestly, Kyra became one of the very first people I could call a friend in Lawrence.
