I just moved to the area and was looking for a salon. I went to another salon in Lawrence and they completely botched my hair. I found Cherilyn via Instagram and loved her color corrective ability. She got me in ASAP and literally fixed my hair. She spent so much time asking me what I like about my hair and what I don't like. What products do I use, how to I liked to wear it etc. She gave me the look that I have been waiting to achieve and unable to get anywhere else. Cherilyn made me love my hair again. It was overly processed, stripy, and looked completely fake. She turned it into a soft, golden, natural color that I adore and actually goes with my skin tone! She made me feel beautiful! The salon is clean and relaxing. The atmosphere is nice. I highly, highly recommend this salon. Cherilyn is a miracle worker. I'm extremely picky about who does my hair and typically only go to aveda salons. But this salon uses all plant based, sulphate free products as well. So I'm officially switching over. I am very happy with my experience and highly recommend Paisley and Stripe to anyone! read more

Okay so there is a lot I have to say so I'm going to break it down by category haha! Service Requested: okay so I had shown the hair stylist a picture and she was like perfect let's do it. I did not have a budget however I did ask for transparency but I did not know how much until the very end. It ended up being right below $400 which I thought was insane. It also took 4 hours which blew my mind. It also did not even look like she did anything with my hair nor follow the picture. Hair stylist: She was so sweet! We definitely hit it off and she was very friendly. I loved chatting with her and learning more about her life. I wish she would have been more transparent with me, but I just don't know if that is how they were trained or not. Ambiance: Super cute place and very high end. If you are wanting a high end experience this is definitely the place for you! Overall: I personally won't be going back however the hair stylist was super nice and if you are willing to pay that much it might be the place for you! When I called for my first appointment, the receptionist didnt explain/or ask all the questions she needed to ask about color, cut, highlights, etc. While my stylist was nice, she left me sitting by myself with color on my roots while she went upstairs. She said she would be back in 35 min but by my timer it was closer to 45 min. I felt ignored and I had to ask another person to find my stylist and put the chair down so I could get up and go to the bathroom. Cut was like a beauty school job. read more

I initially chose Alix Miller as my stylist because she seemed kind, accommodating, and understanding of my needs. Unfortunately, my experience changed dramatically over time. I spent two years in her chair. I trusted her. I believed we had become friends. Looking back, that trust was misplaced. Alix was never the person I thought she was, and she was never my friend. She worked very hard to pretend she was, but I nothing but dollar signs to her. Maybe I was naive, but yeah, that hurts. I trusted her. And I believed she wanted to help me as stylist. This salon talks a lot about inclusivity and how much they love people. In my experience, it felt more like a performative slogan than a reality. Alix was never a great stylist, though she did become solid over time. The atmosphere gradually became strange and negative. She and my wife did not get along, and I tried to stay out of it. I genuinely tried to be fair to both of them. During one of my wife's lightening appointments, Alix severely damaged her hair. My wife has photographs documenting the damage, posted her own review, and multiple stylists have since commented on the condition of her hair. I made the decision to leave Alix's chair, I simply began seeing a different stylist at another location under the same ownership, over an hour away in Overland Park. My first three appointments went perfectly. There were no disagreements, no complaints, and no issues whatsoever. Gabbi's technique and craftsmanship were excellent. If Alix's skills were a 2009 Honda Civic, Gabbi's were a brand-new Dodge Charger. She was kind, knowledgeable, and I had planned to let her color my hair. The atmosphere was noticeably more welcoming. Then, without warning, I was suddenly blocked on Instagram and could no longer contact Gabbi about my hair. All we ever discussed was my hair. She refused to speak with me or offer any explanation. That sudden change in attitude, combined with everything that followed, left me deeply disappointed. Something is very rotten here. Shortly afterward, I was informed that I was no longer welcome at any of the owner's salons. Not by the owner--by Alix on Instagram. I didn't respond. I simply blocked her. Every attempt my wife and I made to communicate with Penny (THE OWNER) was met with silence, while Alix appeared to be the one calling the shots. What else do you call it? When she is one contacting me and telling me I'm not welcome at any of the locations. The complete lack of communication and transparency was deeply disappointing. As a paying client, I believe I deserved a straightforward explanation instead of silence. Being treated this way left me confused and with serious concerns about the professionalism and culture of the business. I can only review my own experience, and based on that experience, I cannot recommend this stylist or the salons under this ownership. In my view, Penny, Alix, and Gabbi were untrustworthy, rude, and malicious throughout this whole ordeal. Paisley and Stripes lost not only me, but also my wife, her mother, and two other young women I had personally referred to Gabbi. That's five clients gone because of how this situation was handled. read more

I'm very disappointed with the service I received here. I came in for a hair color change and expected a specific tone -- we even discussed it clearly in advance. However, they went through an unnecessarily complicated and aggressive process on my hair (including multiple steps like stripping, toning, and applying different products) -- and after all that, the end result was a flat, dark tone that was completely different from what I asked for. I called twice the next day to express my concerns. They told me they were just about to call me (which didn't feel genuine), and instead of offering a refund or even a partial compensation, they only said I could come back and they would "fix" it. But at that point, I had lost confidence in their technique and judgment. Mistakes happen -- I understand that. But when a salon uses your hair for trial-and-error without the skill to back it up, and then refuses to take accountability, it's not okay. I won't be returning, and I would strongly recommend others to be cautious before trusting this salon with your hair. read more

She is so kind and getting your hair done with her feels like hanging out with your bestie. I let her know I missed breakfast and she literally brought me the cutest little snacks. The atmosphere of the salon was great, very homey with lots of plants and great staff. On the other hand the service provided was good, the outcome was ok though. I talked with my stylist about what I wanted and we went over a couple different photos and then started on my hair. At the end it looked pretty good but when I got home my "money pieces" were brassy. Then I looked at my email receipt and noticed a 60$ charge for the haircut... I asked for a small trim and a little bit of face framing which took less than 5 minutes. I saw the price before going in and thought maybe since they were already styling, washing, my hair from the highlights that they might no charge the full amount, especially with such a minuscule cut. I was very wrong. I would not recommend adding a cut to your color appointment unless you're making a big chop. read more

Stripe is accurate, as in stripy hair. This was the worst hair appointment I've ever had. The appointment lasted over 4 hours and I ended up wasting $250. There is no blend, my hair is 20 different colors, and the tone is completely off, nor what we discussed. Attached are photos of my hair taken after I first washed my hair. Lighting can be deceiving (it is somewhat accurate), but the placement and stripes are spot-on -- icky, gross, and cheap looking. If you're contemplating this salon or Emma as a stylist - I'd look elsewhere. read more

I have been to this salon thrice now and i would say they have the worst desk staff and hairstylists. Twice they just didn't enter my appointment in their computer system and i was asked to get booked for some other day and third time again they only booked me for haircolor though i was reassured on phone that my appointment is for haircut and haircolor both. The last time i went there i had Erin as my hairstylist and she was extremely rude and unprofessional and had a bad face on all the time. Didnt even know the basic manners let alone the hair color technique and all that . All she was worried about was not having enough lunch break time bcz she had some other client booked too. I paid for the service though I shouldn't have!! I don't know why and how this place is still open n running In Lawrence!! Nobody here knows their actual job and why they book.. actually overbook clients if their hairstylist just don't want to work!! My advice: please go to some other place if u want good service for your money and time!! read more

AWFUL Awful customer service! Very rude and inappropriate STAFF and OWNER! UNBELIEVABLE! I was super unhappy with my hair result, and I told EMMA (stylist) right after she blow-dried my hair. I didn't get what I asked/paid for. I paid +$200 and it looked like I used a dark box dye all over my hair. Instead of trying to talk to me friendly, EMMA told me I could wash my hair and go under the sun to see the baby lights she did! Because she darkened my hair too much and didn't get enough pieces of hair to blond. Their coordinator lied to me that if I was not happy I could come back in a week, and they would fix it. But just a LIE! They refused to fix it and changed their words. Instead of fixing the problem, the staff and the owner insulted me that the hair color I wanted was out of my budget (I paid +$200), and they were an expensive salon and probably not for me!!! The owner said she would support her staff because she trained them and she got offended by my complaint!! WOW! She said it was my misunderstanding and miscommunication. I paid $230 and I was offended. Just a WARNING, if you have self-respect, DO NOT GO THERE! I'm super unhappy with my hair and I have to see it every day!!! read more

I went to Paisley and Stripe as someone new to the area and have been going every 4-6 weeks for over a year. They have a cancellation policy - as every salon does. I had to cancel bc of work - 22 hours before my appointment - right after they called to confirm the appt and they charged me $45. I would have been better off not showing up and just finding a new salon. Needless to say, I cancelled all of my future appointments- not that she cared. I moved from 20 years in Dallas and hadn't seen a stylist in a while so my hair was a hot mess. A dear friend referred me to Paisley and Stripe so I called and talked with Chloe, who listened kindly to all my hair woes and matched me with Erin. I met Erin at the end of June (hadn't had a professional haircut or color in over a year). She listened to what I wanted, looked at my hair type, asked questions and set to work. Fresh base color, gorgeous highlights, lovely glazing, versatile cut and style that made me feel like a million bucks...I walked out a new woman! Later I looked in the mirror and though "wow...there's that girl!" I absolutely love this salon. It's clean, relaxing and well managed. Being from Dallas, I've had the the opportunity to go to a number of upscale salons. Believe me...they've got nothing over Paisley and Stripe! I just returned from my second appointment with Erin. It was the exact same experience. She is great at evaluating what I need, communicating every step of the process, and I love my hair. It's the best cut and color I have EVER HAD! I imagine I'm not the only one, but I go to a salon to get my hair done AND relax. The environment lets me kick back and enjoy a good drink and chat with Erin and Chloe. Being new to town and looking for a new salon is daunting. I'm so glad I found Erin at Paisley and Stripe! read more

Had an amazing hair cut with Aaliyah today. However, when I saw my receipt, there was an up charge for $15 due to length and thickness of hair. Yes I have thick hair and yes I understand the extra charge, however, notifying the client before hand would be much appreciated. read more

Looked up a hair salon and in Lawrence and was directed to Paisley and Stripe. Called to get an appointment and was able to get in the next morning. Great ambiance. I'm a stay at home mom of two littles, so getting my hair done is an escape :) the atmosphere is relaxing. The salon is clean, nicely appointed an comfortable. Saw Britney, and she did a phenomenal job! I went from a medium length hair. To an a-line bob. Britney took time to find out what I wanted, ask questions and really did a good job. She worked with the texture of my hair, gave advice and was SO helpful! I paid $40 for a hair cut that took 1 hr and 15 minutes. read more

Awesome! Alex is great and really listens. She's also an all around nice person and I enjoy chatting with her. I love the ambiance there (its light and airy), and the staff are friendly. It's a gem! Just wish the staff would wear masks properly and not take them fully off in the back. I absolutely love this salon! Alex is my stylist and I always (literally always) get compliments on my color! I actually drive quite a long distance to go to her every four weeks or so. They are all so friendly, the salon is very pretty and I look forward to my appointments. Emma is the best!!! I knew I had to book a color appointment when she was doing my first blowdry at Paisley and Stripe West. When we were at the shampoo bowl my first time here she did a vinegar rinse and a mask on my hair-- she didn't even charge me she just did it cause my hair needed it. For many many haircuts my wife has searched for a stylist that was in tune with her wishes, one who listened and could "make it happen". When she saw a lady with a haircut similar to what she wished, she simply asked the lady where they had their hair done.
