I have tried most of the notable Salons in the Lake Oswego area and thankfully I do not have to hop around from stylist to stylist anymore! Haircuts for men are competitively priced for the area. Even when I don't know exactly what I want Denise contributes her experience and expertise and the results are noticeably better from any other hair cut I have had. The atmosphere is fun and lively every time I go in and I am always offered something to drink. The stylist: Shear Creations was a disappointment for my husband and I. We had an appointment with Lynn Harkins. Not only did she arrived 25 minutes late for our appointment, she didn't seem to know how to cut or blow dry hair. The products used on me smelled nasty. My husband's hair didn't even get washed by the stylist neither before or after the haircut. We both found Lynn's indefatigable chatter and curiosity a bit of a nuisance. The haircut: I did not find much difference between before and after the haircut and ended up trimming my own bangs the next day. My husband got a haircut someplace else tree days after Lynn's "shear creations". It is surprising that someone who claims to be in business for 8 years does not know how to blow dry hair using a round brush - the most basic thing! The price: My haircut cost $40 and my husband's haircut cost $30 (and his hair was't washed). We felt that the services were way overpriced for what we got, even despite the fact that we were offered yesterday's coffee! The ambiance: Outdated "Spartan" furnishings and decor, dust-covered merchandise and surroundings, infrequently changed murky-looking disinfecting solutions. The products: Redken, Chi What we liked was the location of this hair salon right in the heart of downtown of Lake Oswego. We liked nothing else about Shear Creations. Needless to say we will not be coming back or recommending this place to anyone. read more

Stacy performed her magic on my hair as I wanted to go from strawberry blonde to copper and I have never had a stylist as dedicated as she to making sure that I was happy and that I got what I wanted. The first time I came in she was wonderful at communicating with me and giving me options. Unfortunately my hair was so blonde and took to the color in a way we did not expect. I was given highlights free of charge to try and alleviate the disaster but left really upset with how it turned out(NOT anyone's fault but my own hair's). She contacted me and asked me to come back later in the day so we could fix it and have more time. That was incredibly professional and wonderfully kind that she cares enough about her work and her clients to want to fix something that didn't go as planned. I came back after work and we spent about two hours fixing the mess!! She is incredibly knowledgeable and gave me a beautiful, unique copper, with gorgeous blonde highlights. Stacy, you are the best stylist I have ever had!!! I felt listened to and I always had the final say in everything we did. I trusted her with her extensive repertoire of knowledge to fix my tomato red mess into a gorgeous copper, and she went above and beyond to give me something I absolutely adore. The salon is clean and the stylists kind, I will absolutely be returning. It is worth every penny. An unexpected accident occurred; it happens. I have been getting my hair colored various shades of red for several years and know the mishaps that come with it! But no one has ever had that dedication to fixing it and the knowledge and smart intuition to! We went through color-stripping treatments, toner, the whole nine yards...and all the while maintaining a positive, upbeat attitude and dedication to getting me what I wanted. Seriously above and beyond. That is how every person strives to be treated!! I am so thrilled it was able to be fixed and that Stacy cared enough to contact me. It's my BEST physical quality and because it is curly, I have a hard time trusting people with my locks. I eventually decided to give Denise a try... I recently had my first visit to Shear Creations with Denise. The salon atmosphere inside is a stylish 1920's décor that is very comfortable. It was buzzing with clients, which made for a great energy in the space. Denise greeted upon entry and made me comfortable with the offer of coffee or tea. Because Denise had not worked on my hair before she spent a good amount of time listening and learning what I was looking for in a haircut. Per her suggestion, we reviewed hair magazines to get examples of the cut I was looking for. The cut lasted about 1 hour and I was extremely pleased with the outcome. Denise designed and styled a cut that was exactly what I had envisioned, and had me feeling confident as I left the salon. I was extremely happy with service and affordability. Rhonda styled my daughter's hair for prom, and we couldn't be happier with how it turned out! She had my daughter come in the day before for a consultation and a "practice run" so that my daughter could show her pictures, discuss ideas, etc. The next day, my daughter was able to relax and know that her updo would be amazing...which it was! I really HAVE experienced far, far better. I went her too like Sophie because of the good reviews, but I was surely disappointed. Maybe if you have very thin hair, of very short hair, it's not a problem for the stylists. But if you have hair that doesn't fit into that description, go elsewhere..I have never had a stylist tell me they could not layer my hair. In fact, for the last 5 years I've had a wonderful stylist in California who knew exactly how to layer my hair so it was manageable and looked awesome. I have VERY thick hair, so it just goes frizzy when it's not thinned properly and layered. Sadly,the stylist I got at SC didn't have a clue what to do with my hair. First off, I told her NOT to cut off more of my hair than enough to straighten the ends, and what did she do? Cut off almost 4 inches!!! And instead of layering it she flat out told me "oh, you can't do that to YOUR hair." Like why not?? So I ended up walking out of the salon with a so-so highlight job (had WAY better highlights too, the stylist couldn't even get close to my scalp with the highlights I have about 1/2" of dark roots, ugh) with hair that was 4 inches shorter than I wanted and it was basically a frizzy mess.. VERY UNHAPPY with this experience. If the stylist I got didn't know how to deal with long hair, then she should have admitted it rather than make silly excuses. I wasted over $100 and my hair looks dreadful. Are there no good stylists in Oregon?? The difference between a great stylist and a so-so stylist is: A great stylists ASKS you a lot of questions and LISTENS to the client. AND they never cut off 4 inches of your hair without making ABSOLUTELY Sure it's what the clients wants.. read more
