She was easy to talk to and truly listened to me. Together, we came up with a plan for my hair. I valued her input as she explained each step of her process. Sometimes, hairdressers can be jarringly rough with shampooing but Ava made sure the water temp was comfortable and massaged my head with just the right amount of pressure. The hot towel treatment after was heavenly. I'm happy to say my curls are back and well defined, unlike my last hair experience, where the hairdresser blew my hair out straight despite me sharing a photo of a curly hair style. After my hairstyling, I purchased small quantities of the products used. I've started using them and I'm very pleased. Salon Fig is not inexpensive, but I will definitely return. When the commute began to wear on me, I tried a local salon with excellent reviews and received a terrible cut/color. With a future Tribeca appointment already booked, I stopped into Warwick's Soho Salon for a wash/blowdry. I was greeted so warmly by Joanne at the front desk and my hair looked so great just from a wash/dry, I canceled my city appointment and booked my cut at Soho. That was over a year ago and Soho Salon has impressed me with each visit. I see Caitlin for cut/color, Caitlin and Diana have both done wash/blowdry, and Talia's shampoo and scalp massage is excellent. Everyone at Soho is so consultative, friendly, and professional. Caitlin and Diana are true artists... I don't mean that as hyperbole, Caitlin is a fine artist and her eye for detail and color is superior. Diana's "day job" is doing hair for award-winning tv shows (she is very discreet but I believe she, too, has won awards for her work). Each appointment I'm impressed and inspired by the work I see other stylists doing -- all ages, all styles are represented in Soho's clientele. One thing I hate at salons is being pressured into buying product and I also hate when a stylist doesn't respect how I want to wear my hair and insists on adding waves, hairspray, etc. Soho stylists always ask how *I* would like to look/feel and what products I would like to use, while also being consultative and sharing their expertise. When I've been curious about a new product, they've offered to let me try it in my hair without pushing for a sale and - because the focus is on making sure I'm happy with how my hair looks/feels, when I ask for product advice I end up with someone that is right for my hair type and how I style my hair at home. Being part of the Warwick community, I also appreciate how much Sal (Soho's owner, who is as friendly and good-humored as the team) participates in town events. The bottom floor of the salon is where Lourna was stationed. I was promptly greeted by the staff and taken back to meet Lourna. At first I felt a little weird because we were in the men's barber room and secluded so I didn't feel like I was apart of the salon, but I came to quickly enjoy the appointment because of Lourna. She explained all the products she was using on me from start to finish. I liked that this salon has two kinds of products, Bumble and bumble and kerestase. She used the Kerestase products on me and I really liked how it felt on my hair. Her hair washing skills were AMAZING. The scalp massage she gave me was 10/10. Throughout the whole appointment, I didn't even notice I was getting my haircut because she was so gentle, even when blowing out my hair. The haircut came out amazing and I am so happy with the results. Lourna really listened to what I wanted and I can't wait to see her again!
