Purple Ombré by Steven. Beautiful (view 1)
    Renee J.

Magical. I wanted purple hair. Yes, purple hair (specifically lilac hair but that is hard to get and fades quickly). In a previous attempt to get my hair looking purple it had failed at another salon. The previous salon had bleached the ends (ombré) and colored it slightly fuchsia. It washed out like immediately and was really brassy. They had charged me a lot too. I asked Steven if he could get my hair where I wanted it to be. He totally exceeded my expectations. I know it's not magic but expertise. The color is truly purple/violet (looks so good), and the cut it excellent. I've never been disappointed by a cut by Steven. Go here.

My amazing haircut by Carla at Shear Love!

LOVE THIS PLACE. I went in for the first time yesterday. My appointment was with Carla. I had let my hair grow out to my shoulders for my wedding and it was time to chop it off and go back to my normal bob hair style. Carla listened to me extremely well and gave me THE BEST HAIRCUT I have ever had. Also, the entire staff there is warm and friendly. I felt more like I was at a friend's place than a hair salon. I had a great time, lots of laughs, and the prices are excellent for the service and the quality. Go see Carla she's awesome!

I was fortunate enough to have Sarah wash and style my hair for me today. She was not only a complete Gem, but did an awesome job!!! The vibe of the salon is really laid back and artsy. I will definitely return and highly recommend!

I never go to salons but when I do...I go to Shear Love. Well, actually, this was my first time here but it most certainly won't be my last. After months of putting off fixing my roots and nasty golden, brassy blonde, I finally decided it was time to go see a professional. I did my homework, on Yelp of course, and found Shear Love with pretty much close to perfect reviews. I was sold. Even setting up an appointment online was easy! I arrived right when they opened and was greeted by Billy, who was very cheerful and made me feel welcomed immediately (he is an absolute doll). I showed him some pictures of what I was trying to put into words and he walked me through exactly what he was thinking, reassuring me every step of the way. About an hour and some great conversations later, I didn't even recognize myself! I have never seen my hair look so natural. It was stunning. Absolutely beautiful! Billy matched the color to my natural roots and blended everything together so perfectly. I'm still beside myself. After my color, I had Gwen cut my hair. Gwen was so refreshing to have as a stylist. We went through every part of my hair and discussed why I was having trouble with it and what she would do to fix it. Amazing. She even showed me ways to style my hair as she did at the salon. She kept the length of my hair while still cleaning it up, serious, serious brownie points. So, so, so happy. Thank you Billy and Gwen. You are rockstars.

Mimi! Thank you for squeezing me in for another amazing do! I can't wait to try out the new Davines products!

I wanted the right, and ended up making Eminem proud. Billy had the nerve to tell me my hair looked "silver"

I hate to do this but I was Very unhappy with what Billy gave me. I went in with a picture of the color I wanted. It was a very big change and we talked in length about it. Billy was very nice and told me what he was doing at each step. Problem was he skipped a step. I wanted to go dark on the roots with an ombre to gray. He darkened the roots and bleached the rest all at the same time. After the rinse, he applied a glaze and that was it. No purple toner to take out the Orange/yellow of it, so I ended up looking like "real slim shady". I look like a throwback to 2001 when everyone was bleaching their hair at home. I didn't have to pay $150 for these results. When I told him it looked blonde, he says "no it's silver". Wtf? You be the judge. I am going to a different salon, where hopefully they can fix my destroyed hair.

Ask for Julie Feron. I made a horrible mistake and dyed my hair blood red. After visiting several salons and make multiple attempts to get rid of it she finally made a dent the first time I went to see her. The second time the red was just about gone. After months of having awkwardly pink hair I'm blonde again and I owe it all to her. Also I was offered wine and coffee so Julie and Shear Love really know what's up. Thanks again Julie you're a life saver

Mimi took the time to understand my hair as well as my super low maintenance tendencies and the result is my favorite haircut to date.

To be fair, I made a mistake and thought my appointment was at 9:30 when it was actually at 9:00. When Cheron called me at 9:10 I immediately apologized and even offered twice to reschedule if that was easier. Instead she just asked for my ETA in an irritated tone and said she'd see me soon. From the minute I got there the whole appointment felt tense. I asked for a simple trim, some face framing pieces, and something low maintenance since I don't spend a lot of time styling my hair. It didn't feel like a difficult request but I felt like my preferences were an inconvenience. Even the shampoo was so rough it was uncomfortable instead of relaxing. The haircut itself turned out nice but what really shocked me was the finish. I paid $150 and expected at least a basic styling. Instead, my hair was blow dried with her fingers... no round brush, no comb, no straightener, no curls. Nothing. I genuinely couldn't believe that was the finished result. I'm happy I ended up with a decent haircut but the overall experience felt uncomfortable from start to finish and nowhere near the level of service I expected.

My stylist and hair services: I visited Heather at Salon Modello as a first-time client and Atlanta…read morenewbie. She was very patient with me and had some great ideas about what we could do with my hair -- mostly because I'm always kinda' like, meh, do whatever you think would look good. The color was nice. The cut was great. Heather is skilled, knows what she's doing, and really made me feel like I was in good hands. I think my cut was ~$80, and my color plus foils was ~$290 -- a little pricey but it's quality work. I'll be going back. The shop and atmosphere: The salon is filled with art for sale by local artists, which I really appreciate. There are also offerings of beer, wine, coffee, tea, and water for customers -- I mean, it doesn't get much better than that. In terms of parking, there are spots on the street nearby, but the salon also shares a small private lot with the business next door (facing the salon, it's the driveway to the right) which is a lifesaver, especially for that busy area of town. The receptionist and others stylists all seems friendly, hip, and chill -- in a relaxed way and not a douchey way. I can totally imagine folks of all ages feeling welcome there. Again, I'll be going back. The only slightly odd thing about my whole experience was that the salon keeps your credit or debit card info on file to hold you accountable for last-minute cancelations, those who are atrociously late, and whatnot. And I totally get it -- it's a business and stylists lose money when that kinda' thing happens (which I'm sure is annoyingly frequent). However, it was still weird to hand over my financial information for them to store. At least it makes paying easier at the end of the appointment. TL;DR: Heather is great, shop is nice, there's free beer and parking, don't no-show like a jerk.

I heard from many locals that this is the place to get your hair cut done and done right. As an Asian Male, there is truly something unique about our hair. As long as you are flexible with anyone to cut your hair, then you can be seen ASAP. I always call beforehand and I always get to be seen same day within the next 2 hours. I only had two people cut my hair here, Michelle and Ken???? Ken is a new guy with dyed hair and speaks limited English. Michelle has been doing this for a while. I loved their old location but this new location definitely helps their salon shine. Lots of natural lighting and room for them to really allow an open space concept with seating throughout for others to see the magic happens. For the price of $28 before tip for a male's haircut, I think it is a fair price to ask in this economy and prime location. Hairwashing and shampoo is included for before and after the cut. Also if you want them to style your hair and prepare it for the day then that is also included with gel/wax/hair spray (your choice). Use cash if you can to avoid the 3% credit charge fee. Highly recommend this place. They will treat you well! Thank you Sen Salon for being you. Support this local one of a kind Asian business.
