This place is fantastic! My husband & I were in the area for a long weekend and decided to get a massage. We asked a few people for their recommendations and they all suggested we come here. I called a couple days in advance and was able to get back to back appointments. The young lady who answered the phone was so sweet and patient (I could tell that they were very busy when I called). She happily answered all of my questions and could not have been more helpful. Our massages were with Avery. She was wonderful. She asked alot of questions and was so nice. It was only my third massage. My husband gets them frequently. Avery gave the best massage we have ever had. We both will definitely be back. After the massage I was looking at their hair products as this was also a hair salon.. There were two sweet girls who worked there and as it was getting late they were preparing to leave. They asked if I had any questions about the products I was looking at. I had many questions about all the products. They not only answered my questions but let me try all the ones I was interested in. I was never rushed or pressured at all to buy anything. Their hair and skin products were amazing. Ofcourse I ended up purchasing several of the products. These girls were so kind and went out of their way to be helpful. I wish I had asked their names. I did not even know if they were stylists, estotichians or message therapists. I did know they were extremely nice and knew everything about all the products. I was so pleased with my purchases. I was more pleased with the kindness and professionalism I was shown. To sum it all up, this place and everyone I came in contact with there were awesome. The late great Vidal Sassoon once said" if you don't have Ellie cutting your hair, why bother getting a fucking haircut at all?"(2011). My appointment was with Tara for an updo for my engagement photos. I can not imagine a more perfect experience. When I arrived, the gentleman that greeted me was so welcoming and even complimented my outfit which totally hyped me up for my photos. I do not partake in salon services often and probably (definitely) wasn't very articulate when describing what I wanted, but Tara was patient and asked questions to make sure she understood exactly what I was going for and then made sure I loved every aspect along the way. She noted my concerns about the weather and that my hair doesn't hold curls well and expertly took steps to ensure it would hold. I left feeling so confident and beyond happy with my hair. I wish I had tried Shear Shakti when I lived in Boone. I enjoyed my experience so much that I can't wait to make the two hour trip back up the mountain after my wedding in September to get my hair chopped off! read more

Jamie and Kat provided the hair and makeup services for my wedding on 4/22/2023 at Overlook Barn in Banner Elk, NC. I highly recommend them both! I reached out to multiple hair and makeup vendors in the High Country. I chose Shear Shakti because they offered both hair and makeup services onsite, included a hair and makeup trial, and were the most affordable for the number of services needed (4). Shear Shakti is working with limited personnel right now, but they still communicated promptly and professionally which I really appreciated. My maid-of-honor and I were both happy with how our hair and makeup turned out. I enjoyed chatting with Jamie and Kat. They're easy to talk to, which helped calm my nerves. Additionally, Jamie cut my husband's hair the week before the wedding and did a great job. Ellie is undoubtedly one of the greatest 'Shakti's with the Shears' Boone could ever have! She's absolutely wonderful and is the type of person who could get along with anyone; no matter who it is/who you are, or whatever walk of life it is that one could be from (a key and and major, true-quality for one to fully possess as a hair stylist)! As a new "Neurospicy" resident of Boone, it can be an intimidating city. Let me tell you about my experience at this salon: From the time I walked in the door, I got to meet the REAL boss. his name is Sully. It was about 2 seconds before he was on the couch with me. I felt at home instantly. I got to pet an amazing dog AND read a novel on The Big Lebowski before I even spoke to another human. I mean, come on. Jessica is the one i was lucky enough to have work magic on my hair, but even speaking with Charlotte at the counter was an absolute delight! I didn't catch the owners name, but you could tell she pours her heart into everything she does and is doing her part to provide a safe and happy workplace. I've been growing my hair for a while now and I had planned to donate it in honor of my late little brother. We moved into the area from Greensboro and was a little concerned about finding a good stylist. I checked on the internet and read the reviews and decided to see what happened. I am very picky about my hair and know when I go into a new place by the questions they ask. I took my formula for my hair which they were happy about and they asked all the right questions. I have been going now for about 6 months and Charlotte is my stylist. I watch and listen to everything when I am in there in case I need to use a different stylist, due to illness or any unforseen circumstances. Tara is my stylist and has always given me the most amazing precision cuts. This last time I asked her to help me push into a new direction so I don't get stuck into a haircut rut. Ellie is amazing! I traveled from NYC to visit my old college stomping grounds and was sure to schedule an appointment with her. She was the first person to ever color my dark brunette hair blonde years ago (2013) and since moving away I haven't had anyone treat my hair with the same level of care as she. Walt spins some good tunes on thr iPod...Massage with Megan is wonderful. 1st Shear Shakti has always treated my daughter and I with kindness and professionalism. Jessica has cut my hair twice. The cuts have been GREAT! The first cut she shaped it after I had been growing it out from a pixie cut. She also took the time to show me how to get my natural menopausal curls to come out. Who knew menopause gives you curls! Mac is exactly what you hope for in a massage therapist. His exceptional therapeutic skills to find the troubled spots and address them is coupled with deep relaxation and restorative work. The fact that he can implement both simultaneously at times so that you can work through injuries that would be potentially painful otherwise was a next level experience. I have been getting my hair cut and colored here for years. Charlotte can do amazing color and when I decide to go back to my natural color, she can match it so well, you can't even tell it is growing out. Full of vibrant energy and she gives your head the best massage after washing your hair. She has given me the shortest hair I wanted and been able to help me grow it back out gracefully. After five days of pain in my neck, three visits to a chiropractor, a visit to my PCP who gave me steroids to relieve the pain in my neck and shoulders. I was just about willing to try anything for relief. I stumbled on the website for The Collective and there was an opening. Mac was able to provide the pain relief I have been looking for.
