I just wanted to thank this office for the wonderful care I received on January 12th. I started having flashing in one of my eyes and I called the office and Dr. Shakil-Ansari was able to get me in within an hour. She was really sweet and very thorough! She ended up finding something wrong and referred me over to the Loma Linda ophthalmology department and they were able to do laser surgery. What I loved the most is the day after the surgery, Loma Linda ophthalmology didn't called to see how I was but Dr. Shakil-Ansari did! I thought that was extremely good care, especially from a Doctor Who had only seen Me one time! This is the only place I've ever gone for my vision test every year and to get my reading glasses and computer glasses and it's a wonderful office and Dr. Shakil-Ansari is a wonderful new addition to the office! read more

Never thought that the day would come, that I would need a pair of glasses stuck to my face to be able to see proper! This what happens when you have kids I guess! Anyways, I called this office and made an appointment. Everyone was friendly and helpful. And when I met Dr. Shakel, I immediately knew that I am in good hands. Not only she relied on high tech equipment that doesn't not necessarily need much effort from staff, she also took the time to test my eyes with Old school optometrist equipment that looks like something out of Star Wars movie. She really wanted to make sure that I get the best readings and consequently; glasses that helps me the most. Moving on to the optic boutique, everyone really took the time to help me find the best style that suits me. A week later glasses were ready. When I put on the new pair of glasses, I couldn't stop thinking about "I can see the world" in Aladdin Movie. I had no idea that I was half blind and these people really helped me see. By then My optical ins have not kicked in, so I had to pay cash. They offered me a good discount. I couldn't believe that all of this for a great deal. Couldn't be happier. With my age, I know that health is only down hill from here, you really need health care personnel that you can trust to help you with your needs. I have been seen in this office for literally decades and have always been very happy with my experiences. I called in February for an appointment and before I even finished the last syllable of my last name a voice literally barked at me-"what insurance do you have". No greeting at all. I was rudely told that they do not take my insurance. I tried to say that I usually paid cash but was cut off and told that Dr. Shearer had retired. I was then told that if I wanted to pay cash I might be able to be seen in April by a new provider. No thank you! Made me sad. read more

I have been a patient there for 15 years, and there has been couple of incidents that the office were rude to me and had no respect for me. My glasses are broken and the office were rude to me on talking to me and forcing me to come to office to get eye exam in this certain time to covid-19. I am not comfortable to go to office because i am at high risk for covid. The office did not help me and were disrespectful to me. I do not recommend Dr. Donald Shearer office and his staff. They do not appreciate the patients. Michelle the receptionist is very rude to me. They are making me to go to unnecessary appointment. Do not go there. read more

Honestly, optometrist offices are a dime a dozen. However, this practice is operated by an MD and that is reflected in how thorough his examinations are. He is the only person that actually takes the time to make sure your prescription is perfect AND dilate your eyes for a proper eye exam. Also makes sure that your contacts fit properly with a follow up visit. Overall I am quite impressed with Dr. Shearer's professionalism. The glasses are a bit expensive though and they do offer to put in the lenses for you if you purchased your frames somewhere else. read more

Had an appointment with Dr. Shakil. This was my first meeting with her. Very personable and she took the time during my appointment to make me comfortable. When a concern presented itself with my eyesight, she took her time evaluating my condition and provided me with follow up to address my concerns. I would definitely recommend. read more

The office remains a bit timid on the whole COVId thing...even more conservative than most other local healthcare facilities. Have no idea if the staff is vaccinated? They should let their clients know their vaccination status at a minimum. Still yet the staff is always friendly and always calls us by name when we come in. Very good place and even though Dr. Scherer has retired I'll keep coming. read more

This is one of the greats! Dr. Shearer and staff are fabulous. I have been going to them since the early 90's. In 1999 I relocated from Big Bear to San Diego, but I kept Dr. Shearer. The staff are excellent and ensure that you are taken care of; Dr. Shearer is one of those doctors that are thorough and understands that you only get one set of eyes - so let's take care of them. In the office you can fill your prescription, huge selection of frames and knowledgeable and honest staff that help you choose what best fits your personality/face & wallet. Dr. Shearer and staff are SUPER thorough and knowledgeable! I loved the fact that he is an eye doctor (ophthalmologist) as well as an eye glass doctor (optometrist). Very comforting to know that he can detect disease as well as prescribe glasses. Their selection of eye glasses is smaller than some BUT I think it's better than most! It helps choosing frames when you don't have a million to try on. The frames they do have are super stylish! My daughter and I both get a TON of compliments on our frames! People think they actually just a stylish accessory and not a prescription frame. The staff that helps with frames is EXTREMELY patient and kind. They don't make you feel rushed and they don't try to sell you anything you don't need! Suuuuuuper happy with my experience! read more

I was so pleased by the high level of service by every person at this office. The staffperson who was taking my history and initially talking with me prior to seeing the doctor was very knowledgeable about eyes, prescriptions (I had received one from urgent care that didn't make sense given my symptoms), and health in general. She listened and thoroughly answered my questions, and by the time I saw the doctor she had passed along the pertinent info I had shared. Dr. Shearer was very thorough, and put the pieces together resulting in a correct and important diagnosis. The staff then talked me through the diagnosis, printed off the research so I would have a copy, and because I would need to see a retinologist, took all my referal information to help me set up an appointment with a highly recommended office that would also take my insurance. Their kindness, patience, and level of service was one the best I've experienced. read more

Do not go to this place! Dr Shearer was so rude and has a very dismissal attitude. He doesn't act like he cares about his patients who are keeping him in business. When I tried to explain myself he over talks, ignores and throws in his opinion like its the only truth and he doesn't care about yours. He doesn't take his time. Seems very rushed. To top it off the office desk ladies are very rude and have very poor customer service. They need to work on their attitudes. The only professional one here is the other woman Doctor. She was great! Will never go back here though. Taking my business elsewhere. read more

I am very greatful to Dr Shearer and his very pleasant staff for accepting me as a patient on very short notice yesterday after a three day Memorial Day holiday. I have a very painful right eye and both eyes are inflamed. I had visited urgent care on Memorial Day with a case of potential shingles close to my right eye. I was given medication by urgent care and told to visit an Opthamologist in 24 hrs. Though I have been a patient at Loma Linda University eye clinic, I could not get an office apt. I was told to go to ER. Not necessary! Beaver Medical Clinic Recorded scheduler said my call would be returned. It was not. Thankfully Dr. Shearer's staff worked me into his schedule. He was pleasant, concerned, did an eye exam and added a very soothing antibiotic ointment to my meds. The eye feels much better today and I now know where I will go for follow up care!
