My two Cocker Spaniels are both rescues and both have special needs. One diagnosed recently with epilepsy this past year. This review is long overdue. Joanna has been grooming my super anxious Maltese for about a year now. She does an amazing job especially given how challenging my dogs grooming can be. She takes her time getting Coco comfortable and pays attention to every detail. She is intuitive and mindful of Coco's stress level during grooming. I am a very protective and loving owner to my furry baby (as I'm sure we all are) and have always had a really hard time finding someone who I trust and can groom my dog Roscoe. He is 2 1/2 years and has very high anxiety, the last time he had gone to get him groomed it took 6 people to hold him down and they still couldn't even cut his nails due to his high anxiety/energy levels. I've used Shears and Hounds mobile grooming service for a while now and had consistently positive experiences with Johanna and Cindy--both have been kind, gentle, and professional with my dogs. Johanna is especially caring, and Cindy has always been pleasant and great to work with. Unfortunately, my most recent appointment with Marco was a completely different and upsetting experience. After the grooming was finished, Marco asked me to "put my dog away" because he needed to talk to me. What followed felt more like a confrontation than a conversation. He was visibly irritated and complained about my Great Pyrenees, Sunny--who is special needs and has ongoing medical issues--being a bit matted this time. This is not a usual occurrence, and I did my best to explain his situation, but Marco showed no patience or compassion. He said he had to file Sunny's nails (which is part of the job), and then stated he didn't know why Cindy only charges me $155. He told me Sunny "wasn't worth his time," and that he would not return unless I agreed to a $250 fee and that kind of dog needs grooming every three weeks. He spoke loudly enough for my neighbors to hear, which was embarrassing and unprofessional. He also called Sunny a "bad dog," despite knowing he's special needs and deals with chronic anxiety from frequent Vet and ER visits. To make matters worse, Marco gave Sunny a haircut I never requested. It may have looked okay that day, but afterward it became clear the cut was uneven and choppy. Most concerning of all, Marco mentioned that he's had to "check" my dog in the past. That statement seriously alarmed me. What does that even mean? Is he being rough or forceful with dogs who don't cooperate? If I had known anyone on the team wasn't comfortable or compassionate grooming Sunny, I would have absolutely gone elsewhere. The last thing I want is someone treating my pup harshly--especially when he already has a hard life medically. This experience completely shattered the trust I had in Shears and Hounds. I sincerely hope they take this feedback to heart. No pet owner should ever feel disrespected--or worse, fear their dog is being mistreated during a grooming appointment. read more

These guys did an incredible job on my dog. I have a very nervous golden retriever that I got right before the pandemic hit. Because I wasn't able to properly socialize him when he was a puppy he gets skittish with new people so taking him to a salon has always been an issue. I decided to pay the premium for mobile dog grooming and man was I so happy I finally made that choice. Not only was my dog better groomed than ever but the fact that they came to me and it was all about my dog made things so much easier. Salons put your dogs in kennels and it's all about quantity over quality but not here. They took their time with my dog, made him feel comfortable and dealt with his insecurities like true professionals.
