The team has been amazing over the last 7 years with boarding and taking care of my pups. When I'd bring my husky Gemma, there who had epilepsy, they always took the best care of her when she had seizures and with making sure her medications were administered on time. My dog Gia just spent a long weekend there and had an amazing time. It was her first time there since we lost my other dog and I knew she'd be in the best hands and comforted! I came on here to complain about the prices and service time. But then I go seeing the other reviews and now I even feel bad for writing this review. Yet, we're to help each other out on picking good places to spend our hard earned money. My dog is a mix and not high maintenance except that he gets skin allergies from time to time. The bath was good, since I paid for the $8 shampoo and $15 teeth cleaning. Upon dropping him off I noticed the price was $62 since he's 50lbs on the counter. It was also the same price on the website. When I picked him up they charged me $104.54 for the bath. No hair cut! Turns out they changed their prices but did not update their pricing on the website or on the counter that's inside the store! I asked the lady and she just told me it was all old pricing and haven't updated them. I was about to keep complaining but she had this "yea whatever" look on her. So I just paid and left. I was hoping for it to be my neighborhood pet groomers but not when they're running a business like that. Oh and I didn't get my dog back till 4hrs later. Oddly enough it was the same time all the other dogs were being picked up by their owners. Which doesn't make sense, their last bath appointment is by 11am. Because they don't do baths in the afternoon, till early next morning. They're in-store service hours are not convenient either. Never went back. I would never recommend this place under any circumstances. If I could give a rating of 0 stars, I would. I will give them credit for giving me a refund. Upon calling and talking to the receptionist several times, I expressed that I did not want my dog shaved under any circumstance. They told me they would call if they had to shave him. I dropped him off at 9am and he wasn't finished until after 12. I knew something was wrong and when they brought him out from the back my heart sank. If you have a doodle, stay away from this place. I do not think they are experienced or properly equipped to handle thick, curly hair. My dog had a few mats on his stomach but none on his body. I told them before I left to completely shave his stomach and private parts, and to only cut his body hair down a little bit because we like it longer. Upon picking him up, I was heartbroken to see he was completely naked. In addition to this, he has several nicks, a cut above his butt that is making him extremely uncomfortable to use the bathroom, and a very lazily executed, uneven cut around his face. It seems as if they saw him, immediately started shaving and just cut his hair with no regard. Extremely disappointed in this place. When I expressed my frustration one of the managers said "it's not like we can glue the hair back on". Absolutely disrespectful and disgusting. If you want your dog to be traumatized, nicked, and your requests ignored, take your dog to this place. I would leave zero stars if I could. Picked up my pup from being groomed And his eye was swollen shut. Called to ask if anything had happened and they completely denied having anything to do with the issue, even though we called 3 minutes after picking him up once we noticed the issue. they were extremely dismissive on the phone offering zero help to figure out how this could have happened. My pups eye is still swollen and now we have to take him to the vet to see what's causing this. Do not take your animal here to be groomed. Terrible response to an alarming issue. I have nothing but praise for Bone Sweet Bone. We used to take our pups to ktown but it's a mission to get there and I wanted to look for a groomer that was closer. Location: THERE. IS. DEDICATED. PARKING!!! That's really all you need to know and care about if you live in downtown. The area is tucked away near a WeWork and very easy to find. Staff: Wow, are they thorough. The man at the front of the house was so detailed in asking me exactly what I wanted for grooming! I have two senior pups and one of them is afraid of the blow dryer and has a benign tumor. The other one has double cherry eyes and sensitive skin. They really care and made sure I knew they would do everything they could to take care of my babies. Grooming: I normally get the full package for grooming and OMG this place is so affordable!!! It ended up costing me $20 less each dog than what I normally pay so that money saved we happily forwarded to the groomer as tip. I couldn't be happier with the price point. Bosley and Momo came out looking so great, and they were in and out in 3 hours. I cannot wait to come back with more frequency because it's so affordable. Thank you so much Bone Sweet Bone staff! I would leave zero stars if I could. They left cottonballs in my Pomeranians ears that we did not discover until after an expensive vet appointment, SIX WEEKS later. The anger I felt when the vet showed us what they pulled out of his ears was only topped when we decided it may have just been an accident and decided to give the groomers another try. The girl at the front agreed that we should have a fully comped visit due to the negligence of the last visit. Upon payment, the manager offered us a mere 20%, then increased to 50% off when we expressed our disdain. We have been loyal clients for upwards of 4 years, ALWAYS tipping, always opting for extra services. We will not be going back and the manager should be ashamed of himself. As a manager of a business here in the Arts District myself, I fully am aware of the overhead and loss by offering a measly 20% compared to just taking care of something that went awry on my own behalf. Our dog has gotten his hair cut here multiple times. Though the past two visits will be his last. Upon picking up our dog this most recent visit, we discovered multiple cuts on his body. Cuts so bad that he wouldn't walk or act like himself for days (wouldn't even go to the bathroom). wanted to like this place and to make it my neighborhood spot, but my boy came back with a bloody nose from his nose being scrubbed when he had hyperkerotosis. i apply medication so the nose normally crusts on its own and sloughs off naturally. you're not supposed to try and scrub off the nose. i was okay with dealing with that because i can understand how that can be an innocent misunderstanding until i noticed that he was shaking his head so much as well after the appointment , so i put a cotton bud in his ears to help him clean it out thinking there may be some water from the grooming still. then i saw that there were bloody spots in the cotton buds which tells me they were rough with him while cleaning his ears so he was sore and bleeding. disappointed and just won't go back. i love my dog too much to think that he was probably in pain from people being rough with him from a bath. read more

I've been taking my dog to Bone Sweet Bone for years for grooming and teeth cleaning which is done by an outside source. Because my dog is an uncommon breed it's been a challenge to locate a groomer who can clip my dog properly. Before leaving my dog, I explained to the front desk person the specifics of the required cut and left. When I returned what k asked to be done was not done and was to be taken back to be cleaned up. On further exam, the clipped fur was not smooth and flat but choppy and jagged. Being that we had an established relationship and that his file had a photo of a proper cut I was disappointed with this visit's results. read more

Called this location for boarding but was turned down as my puppy, at 12 weeks, is considered dangerous and aggressive before any temperament test or meeting, because she is a cane corso. I was told to try the downtown location. I went to the downtown location as suggested. They did a temperament test, which they said she did great in and passed, only comment was that she was shy, then they had me fill out all the paperwork. All the ladies on staff were cooing at how cute and excited they are to take good care of her. Right as we were about to finalize the booking for boarding, a gentleman (Caucasian, y'all, bald/balding blonde) came out and basically said sorry no we can't because "she is a pitbull breed". Not sure what kind of dog expert would reason that a mastiff is a pitbull, therefore dangerous, but it's not one of trust. read more

I am not quite sure what they did to my dog But his eyes were swollen shut and irritated I called & they said they don't know why he's like that it might be because of the sun which is ridiculous! He has been squinting since he got here from the groom & they cut one of his toe nails super short that it's bleeding. I am taking my dog to the vet tomorrow if it doesn't go away & I am going to have them pay for the vet expenses! They need to be careful with serious stuff like that Update: Santiago contacted me and informed me they used a new flea shampoo that my dog probably got an allergic reaction to it. This is my go to place for daily daycare needs. Love that they open early (now 8am, used to be earlier prepandemic) and stay open later. Location is also close to downtown but far removed enough that there are actual parking spots I can pull into to drop off/pick up my doggo. The workers are so chill and aren't scared of my large golden husky like at some other places I've been. My dog always comes back looking like he had the time of his life! They even remember my dog's name! The store front is also full of goodies and dog care stuff. Super convenient when I needa pick up something real quick, like dog shampoo. Al in all, a fantastic place. Only thing I wish they had were cameras that I can login to remotely to check up on my dog during the day. read more

So on 5/26/18 I took my dog here to get groomed and this was his second time and the first time I had a wonderful experience but when I took him again I can not say the same they have great customer service but when it come to your pet i am not too sure. I picked up my dog then took him home he seemed to be him self but then he started to scratch himself and I went to go and inspect him and he was full of scrapes like the groomer went to deep. He seemed to not be in so much pain but if you were to try and touch the scrape he would try to move away and kinda whine. I have contacted the manager and i am going to see what I can do. There is a different space for large and small dogs and though I didn't see the space for large dogs, I could see that the small dogs had a lot of both indoor and outdoor room and were enjoying themselves. I found an old dog in the streets about 3 months ago. He had a chip & unfortunately his owner didn't want him anymore. I knew right away I had to keep him (I named him Roadie). Turns out he has severe separation anxiety. If I leave him alone for even just 5 mins he destroys carpets & kennels alike. Otherwise, he is honestly the sweetest, chillest creature i've ever known. I didn't know what to do because I can't leave him home but can't take him to work. A friend of mine recommended I try Bone Sweet Bone on Molino st. - I was skeptical after the latest bad review, but after asking around I realize that was a freak situation & happened while transporting a dog from SilverLake location. I'm SO glad I ended up leaving my sweet old dog here. The staff literally treat him exactly how I treat him. They love him the same - it's so clear. I've been bringing him a little over 2 months now & I couldn't be happier! In fact, today I was inspired to finally write a review because I was almost brought to tears with happiness seeing how the staff treats him. It was raining & Roadie freezes in the rain, he's miserable in the rain! I carried him in this morning & one of the managers immediately came over & held Roadie like a baby, gave him a ton of love & took him to the back, talking to him and giving him love the whole way. The staff loves each and every animal and treat them like their own. It's honestly such a relief to know how well he's taken care of with this group of amazing people - that peace of mind is invaluable. Our pup was cleared to come in for a temperament test, my wife called ahead and they informed us that she couldn't come in because she was a "pitbull mix." I cannot believe that 1. this is still happening. These dogs are the sweetest creatures in the world and we all know why some of them turn aggressive. 2. This is the only dog business I've ever encountered that has a blanket policy "we don't take pit bulls." My dog is a rescue and, as with most medium-large rescue dogs in this area, is probably part pit bull. He is a very gentle, social, and sweet old dog. How strange that this dog care business does not care about assessing individual dogs' temperaments. I wouldn't trust them with any dog given how misinformed they are about dog breeds and temperaments. They would probably let an aggressive golden doodle right in :) read more

My go-to for grooming my 100lb German Shepherd. Bath and de-shed on a monthly basis. I feel the de-she'd could be a little better but in reality I don't think anything other than a buzz cut would keep a GSD from shedding. Bone Sweet Bone is the place for your furry friend. I had a couple places in mind to bring my Kygo pup and luckily this was the first (and only) place I needed to experience. The staff on first greet was very friendly and explained different pricing/package options and how it would best fit my dogs needs. It was very exciting to see him get released into the daycare area for the first time and get lovingly mobbed by the others. You can tell the other dogs love welcoming newbies and the staff do a great job integrating them if they are a bit more shy. Fast forward a few weeks going and I couldn't be happier we chose this place. Every time I pick him up, he's super happy and tuckered out from a fulfilling day at BSB. Aggressively bad service. Imagine this: I walk in there on a Sunday at noon (yesterday, 8/19). The place is dead quiet, not a single soul in there. I ask the only staff member behind the counter if they have any type of frozen treat or ice cream for a dog. He says no and turns back to his cell phone. I walk to the back and see a big freezer full of stuff and notice, surprise surprise, a box of frozen treats. However, the product in question doesn't describe in what shape or size the treats are so I figure I'd ask and I'd get some approximation of an answer. I also grab a big bag of frozen goat's milk too. I ask this apathetic man my question and he shrugs and goes "I don't know." I say, "well the box is taped shut so I can't tell and I would like to know before I buy it." He takes a cursory glance at the description on the box (as if it hadn't occurred to me to do that) and says, "Nope it doesn't say." Then he points to the milk and says "So you want that?" "Ummm I guess" is my response, still trying to figure out why this dolt can't put in even the bare minimum of effort to help me figure out the answer to this question as it's *literally his job* and I'm *literally trying to give him money*. I take the milk and get the hell out of there, and I'll definitely not be coming back. read more

The staff is super friendly and they'll recognize your dog as you enter. In fact, they'll even remember you and which dog is yours when you go to pick your dog up. Never had a problem with showers or nail trimmings. Our dog doesn't like to go in, but to be honest once she's in there she's running around and playing instantly. In fact, when we come to pick her up we can watch her on the tv just playing around and having fun. I equate it to a child not wanted to leave their parents for preschool but once they're there, they have fun. We've been late a few times and they've been super accommodating staying a bit later so that we can retrieve our dog. We did have one issue with her eye when we picked her up one time. They went through the video and got back to us quickly to tell us what the issue was and they were super caring about it. As with all places that have multiple dogs playing together, you're going to have some issues here and there but I'm glad they addressed the matter quickly. read more

Alright, let me begin by saying that as a 24 year old single dog mom working in tech (and henceforth moving around startups across DTLA, mid city, and Santa Monica), I've had 1. A huge need/dependence on doggy daycares, 2. My dog has tried and been very happy at a several other daycares (Doggie Goddess, Rover; five in total over 2 years or so - including the dog walking service Wag). In all of these experiences, he has always, classically been excited, happy, playful, eager to go to school (per se), a dog who loves to make friends both humans and other dogs - as you can expect from a lively, 2ish year old golden lab. He would jump straight out of the car and couldn't wait to go to school, and he'd always have best friends in his clique. For some reason, I brought him here - and actually shelled out some $600-700 for the monthly package (shouldn't have) and baths, and after 4-5 days of daycare, he refused (absolutely PERSISTENTLY refused) to get out of the car. I tugged at him, pulled at him, almost forced him to get out of the car for two days - until I realized on the third that he is actually afraid of going back there. From then on, I took it easy on him, took his side (because he's historically a beautiful and cheerful, happy-making lab) and never went back. Surprisingly enough, I visited the arts district dog park (few months later), and it's on the same road as this daycare. Upon parking, I asked him to get out, and he's still terrorized (thinking I'm taking him back there). After some gentle coaxing, he finally got out. Oh yeah and the $600 pretty much went to waste. Nothing against daycares - I love them and the business owners that venture into creating them and taking care of our dog babies - but please do some sort of a trial package before you commit to this place. read more

If you care about your dog, please read this review before considering Bone Sweet Bone. I had really high hopes for this place and was let down, big time. I am writing this review to prevent other pet owners from making the same mistake I did. I bought a 10-day package for my 4-month-old puppy. His first day went well and my puppy was happy when I picked him up. However, on his second visit, when I picked him up his eyes were bloodshot and he was acting very strangely. After getting home, I noticed that his ear that is usually pointed up was drooping down. I went to touch his ear and my fingertips were covered in blood. He is a black dog, and the blood was not easily visible at first. So I started to examine his whole body and found a large gash on his forehead and puncture marks up and down his right front leg. Later, after getting treatment from the vet, I was told by the hospital staff the injures Bruce sustained appeared to be beyond typical rough play between dogs. I called Bone Sweet Bone the next morning and spoke to a worker there and explained the situation. She readily agreed that the injuries occurred at Bone Sweet Bone and offered to cover the vet bill. She also even agreed to send me some video footage of the incident. I understand that injures can occur when there are lots of dogs playing but the reason I was so upset and frustrated was 1) I never received a call when the incident happened. My puppy had multiple injures from the same dog and if I was contacted, I would have been able to pick him up and prevent further injury 2) When I did pick him up, there was no mention of the injury. Hard to believe that the staff didn't know about the injury given how quickly they were to acknowledge it the next day. Also, not knowing about the injury would be even more negligent and irresponsible in my mind 3) The video footages I received have a wide-angle and I didn't see one staff in the back with the dogs attending to them, even while the rough play was occurring. In other dog care facilities, it is a standard protocol to separate dogs that are playing rough because the play can escalate to something more serious very quickly. So I was told the dog that bit my puppy will continue to attend the daycare. As such, I respectfully requested a refund for my remaining unused day and also the reimbursement for the vet bill that I was promised. I was told to write an email to info@bonesweetbone.net with a copy of the vet bill so the "boss" can see it. That was over two weeks ago. After multiple calls, text messages, and emails, the "boss" has yet to reach out to me. The staff is more responsive and keeps telling me that the "boss" will reach out shortly, but it has yet to happen. I even as for a direct number so I can contact the "boss" and was told that information could not be shared with me. All I can conclude at this point is that this "boss" does not give a sh*t about his customers or the dogs. I was planning to use BSB for other services but the unprofessionalism is off the charts. If you love your dog, I would suggest paying a little extra for a daycare that will provide the professional care your dog deserves. There are plenty of options in the Art's District Area. read more
