They have the BEST staff who are so honest and caring and truely have your dog's safety and health in mind always. We absolutely LOVE Uptown Pup. We live in a loft so there isn't much room for a dog to run around and play. Our dog doesn't do well at a dog park, he's a very anxious dog when it comes to bigger dogs. Having him at Uptown in a supervised play area has been the best! I especially love it when they post stories on their Instagram and I catch my dog running around. Our dog always comes home so tired, we love it. The pricing is affordable. You don't even have to get out of your car when you drop off/pick up -- you call them and they come out to you. They don't offer grooming anymore, but if you boarded your dog -- you can ask nicely if they'll bathe your dog before pick up. Most of the time, depending on availability -- they'll do it. read more

Updating my review! Ever since I first started coming here around September, I have absolutely fallen completely in love with this daycare. The staff here are like family to Athena, and no matter who greets her she's always going straight to them, tail wagging and trying to kiss them. I always feel safe bringing her here. They are also helpful in updating me on how she is doing and if she had finished her dinner or not. The staff here are also very friendly to me and if it isn't too busy I always have a short conversation with whoever has the night shift. I am also very thankful for Gus, the male staff member in my last review who helped me with her poop fiasco, but Danielle and the other staff members are all great, I wish I could remember all their names so I could just list all of them here. I am still so happy to have found this daycare and will always go here. I do hope one day they open up another spot in the West LA area because all my dog friends need a daycare in that area and I always recommend this one but they always say DTLA is too far :( I highly recommend this daycare for any dog, especially high energy dogs, because my crazy puppy has made fantastic high energy friends here and now she just completely knocks out at home. read more

My dog got injured at this daycare, I took him to emergency that night, went home with insane amounts of vet bills. Dogs playing rough is quite normal, but that's why I prefer taking him to daycare instead of dog park, thinking he'll be in good hand. My dog and I loved it here, every staff members were super friendly to us, and we have been coming for awhile now. It was disappointing as they don't seem to take responsibility for the incident, and they refused to compensate the vet bills due to the waivers. My dog hikes mountains with me as I'm a disabled Veteran so I would know my dog's ability to walk/run. I spoke with the owner and he calmly explained the situation after Gus And Danielle tried to make their failed case to deflect blame. Gus you watch dogs for a living. WATCH THE DOGS AND CHECK YOUR ATTITUDE. I know the reason why he came limping. It's because you use rubber floors. This IS YOUR FAULT. Words cannot describe how amazing this place is. I have a 7 month 70 lbs. Newfie who is in his chewing faze so we decided to try day care and some training. So far we have taken him twice for day care at this location and I cannot say how much I love it here. I'm a nervous mommy and this was his first time ever going to day care and I didn't know how he would react. I called the day I wanted to bring him, they welcomed me immediately, so friendly and answered all my questions on the phone, and I decided to come in for the evaluation. King passed and he was all set and stayed there for 9am-7pm, was fed lunch and dinner, and had lots of fun. I called once to check in and they filled me in and welcomed me to keep calling as much as I would like. It's a new facility in the heart of DTLA and it is such a cool concept what they did with the building. They will soon have 24/7 surveillance cameras where owners would be able to watch using their phones/computers which I think is awesome. The dogs eat separately which is rare from all my research and they have private kennels. The owners are also there which is nice and shows how dedicated they are. I have met Trevor, the lead trainer, and a few other staff members, and they are all so friendly and you can tell they have genuine love for dogs and would treat your dog like their own. The also have an instagram where they upload photos of your pups throughout the day. King got a report card which details your dogs stay, friends he made, behavior, and comments. It was such a sweet touch! He came home not super dirty and I'm sure he was only dirty due to he has a "let me play with water and lay on it" obsession lol. He came home also super tired which led into the next day meaning he had lots of play time and mommy can have a little break. We have been taking our pup, Lil Cooper, here since he was about 11-12 weeks old and we could not be happier with our experience!! Cooper started going to their FREE puppy socialization classes and has since competed Level 1 of training, attended daycare and will begin Level 2 training in a couple weeks!! Cooper has met so many friends (2 and 4 legged) at Uptown and is so exhausted when we pick him up, he falls asleep on the car ride home!! The staff is well trained, incredibly friendly and every time we leave, we find another reason to love them and come back!! Their head trainer, BAILEY, is uh-mazing! We've taken our pup here for level 1 training and day care. The front staff are usually friendly and the training with Holly several years ago was fantastic. She was so positive, knowledgeable and talented with the dogs, and our pup could not get enough of the class. We all learned a lot and had a blast. Our day care experience was unfortunately similar to some of the negative reviews on here. Our pup is so sweet and loving so it broke my heart to pick him up and find out he hadn't been with the other dogs. I asked about it but the guy at the front just brushed it off that he'd been "a little humpy." I understand if some dogs need breaks and I know our dog is energetic, but he's a 20 pound spaniel without a mean bone in his body and has never had any issues at dog parks, so I wished the staff had explained more to me and reassured me that he'd still had a good time in there. read more

DO NOT BRING YOUR DOG HERE FOR GROOMING. The woman who groomed my doggo cut him with the clippers in several spots, and shaved so close to the skin along his neck and chest that it scabbed over. What's worse is that my dog is f%#king traumatized. His behavior and temperament was completely changed after his grooming session. He freaks out any time I pick up trimming scissors or his brush. As in, violently shaking and growling at me! My sweet zen-doggy is now absolutely terrified of baths and any kind of brushing or grooming. This is the best boarding place in LA, I have two boxers who are full of energy and they LOVE to play at Uptown Pup. Jason is the owner and he has assembled a great staff of knowledgeable people who really know dogs and understand how to treat them and take care of them. I lived in LA for 6 months and dropped them off several times a month when I would leave town, and whenever I was curious about my dogs while away I could call Jason or his staff and they would be very friendly on the phone and give me an update whenever I requested it, gotta check on the babies! I have now moved to Orange County, about an hour away from this place but I STILL drive all the way to Uptown Pup to drop my dogs off each month because I know and trust that Jason is gonna take the best care of my pups. Also, my male boxer has medical needs and they take excellent care of him and give him his required vet medication while I'm away, huge stress reliever. Jason has also helped me with choosing a great brand of food since he has a Boxer mix himself, and my dogs now have a better diet. This is vacation for my Boxers, and they LOVE coming here, I've attached some pictures of them from the Uptown Pup Instagram, which is also a great way to see updates on the business daily! If you're looking for a FUN, SAFE, and great environment for your dogs do not hesitate to come here, your dogs will love it just as much as mine do. I originally loved their concept and their training when I started bringing my new pup here. I moved an hour away and continued bringing him. After this week, I realized they need to be a little more organized with their training. They offer free puppy socialization, which is great, but this weekend my pup was the only smaller dog in class so he was asked to leave. I wasn't too upset because it was probably what was best. But I did drive an hour and that was inconvenient to my day. I was told as I left there was a beginning class next week for puppy kindergarten. Great I thought! I emailed the trainer Monday am to get him enrolled and also to set up private lessons for classes 1 and 2 after the puppy kindergarten. I received a response Tuesday night late that there were no classes anymore. But I just saw you Sunday and emailed you less than 24 hours later??? And she ignored my request on the other classes as well. Trust me, if you can't answer me about spending my money, I won't spend it with your business. They need to be more organized for their training. Yes I think Holly is an asset, but you mess with my time, gas, or money TWICE and I will no longer support your business. I'm an attorney that focuses on managing large businesses so customer service drives everything I do - whether as a customer or as the business. Get a sign up list, plan your puppy classes better, something.... But you've definitely lost me as a client for good. I was going to board my three dogs for my upcoming vacation, but I'll save my money and use a better company. We brought our 2 rescue dogs, Lola and Tiny Tim to Uptown Pup to be boarded for 4 nights. This was our first time boarding them and the experience was great! My husband was treated very kindly by the owner during the initial meet and greet and when he picked up the dogs after 4 days he said they seemed very happy! We live in Downtown LA. We have a rescue dog, a big lovable Pitbull named Porkchop. I consider us so lucky that Trevor, one of the owners, introduced himself on the street before Uptown Pup even opened and gave Porkchop a huge squeeze. Some people might find his appearance a little intimidating but he is a big bundle of love and Trevor saw that right away. I think we were one of the first dog clients knocking on the door when they opened in December. Jason, the other owner and Trevor have been amazing. They know our dog and our dog knows them and I trust them completely to take care of him. We get report cards when we pick him up telling us who he played with and how he did. They are totally understanding of our schedule and accommodating. Most importantly, it is incredible to see how the treatment Porkchop gets at Uptown pup has furthered his training. The staff is so aware of him and how he plays. They allow him to be the best dog ever. He comes home tired and happy which is the easiest way for us to train and maintain a high energy pup. Did I say how much he loves the staff there. We also did a overnight there recently and it was perfect. He had his own suite with his own bedding and was surrounded by people he likes. I really can't say enough about how these guys have made us feel like part of the family. They are a fantastic addition to the neighborhood and have made our little Porkchop a better dog. read more
