Great place to go if you have a dog. They cater to dogs leaving a basketful of linen to put over bed and towels for their return from the beach. We picked the week to come when the atmospheric river hit! But that didn't stop us going out the second it stopped raining for 5 minutes. The beds are soft and there is a balcony overlooking the Pacific Ocean. The rooms have a fireplace for when it's cold like it is the last 2 days. No beautiful sunsets to post but lots of high waves! Breakfast is brought to your room. Limited menu of items from granola and berries, Greek yogurt, fruit juice, hard boiled eggs, bagels ( not toasted or warm) and coffee cake. The rooms have a tv, microwave and refrigerator along with a coffee maker. The sound of the waves and the fresh (feels like 32) air relaxes you immediately. We come twice a year on our birthdays March and October and it's usually great weather! Love this place. read more

The staff were very nice, and the room was clean. I only had one concern. (The end of the bed was only a couple feet away from two armchairs. These particular chairs legs were not vertical; but slanted. The staff member said it was to ensure they did not tip over. However, for me and my daughter; it was a tripping hazard. A solid, clean, and decently priced hotel by the ocean. We have stayed here several times over the years. It looks like they just renovated the rooms again. They look nice, but it makes you wonder what architects and/ or interior decorators are thinking these days in terms of space and design. Getting around the room felt like one of those slide puzzles from years ago. Where you slide a piece to one side in order to move another piece in. It was tight, but still comfortable. Well, with one exception. I was wondering why the chairs were weighted to that extreme, and then it hit me, literally. I stubbed my toes no less than 10 times while there. The weight is to keep you from throwing them off the balcony. Ha ha. The people that work there are always cool and they are dog friendly. Can't wait to go back. read more

The parking lot is for small cars. This hotel is ultra dog friendly. The renovations that they have done make it an immaculate destination on the coast. The staff are amazingly kind and helpful. Kyllos is within a tiny walk of o get amazing take out. The Chinese place across the street delivers to your room. And is quite tasty. If you plan to stay here, then explore the coast all day, then this is your new home away from home. We like to chill in the room and enjoy the view. The furniture may be an acquired taste? But for us we couldn't find a comfortable position on any of the furniture. It was seriously brutal. Others might find it comfy or cozy. But it was so rock hard, it was difficult to enjoy the truly well appointed room. We love the hotel and staff, just not the furniture. The five stars is because we still wouldn't stay anywhere else. We were pleasantly surprised by this hotel. To say it was one of the best hotel experiences we've ever had is not an understatement. It's conveniently located off the 101 and its backyard is the beach. The room was touched up daily and there were enough pillows, towels, etc. for all of us. We never had to ask for anything because it was all there. The room was spacious and everything was in good condition. Coffee and tea was available in the lobby all day and was never empty. A simple breakfast was delivered to the room each morning. The staff was very friendly. Most hotels are constantly looking to cut costs, to the detriment of the customer's experience. I give this place props for being well run, nicely maintained, very clean, offering a free breakfast they bring to your door, having a blackout drape so I can sleep, having a polite person at the front desk, and having a jetted tub. For many basic trips from point a to point b that would be fine. I feel the hotel is deceptive however in the gallery on its website, which shows several photos of rooms that make it appear you are right on the beach or have views that are primarily of the ocean. This may be true for a few of their rooms, but not for the vast majority, which have close-up views of parking lots and other businesses closer to the ocean, which dominate the view from the balconies from at least the 3rd floor down in this 5 story hotel. None of the photos in the gallery reveal this basic fact--that there are dozens of cars and people and buildings in between you and the ocean--which in fact dominates the setting. In my case, I was at the end of a 30th anniversary trip my husband and I were taking up the Oregon coast. I noted this on the comment section asking for the highest floor possible while paying for a nicer king room that was said to have an ocean view. We did have a little view of the ocean, about 10-20 feet between the popular restaurant and the motel in front of us, both closer to the beach and dominating the hotel's ocean view side. When I reserved my room based on their website photos, I did not realize the hotel is very much a highway 101 hotel, dominated by the busy road and the unappealing business frontage on on one side and on the other by little glimpses of the ocean and big views of parking lots and other hotels and restaurants. I did not realize there would be a row of restaurants and hotels closer to the ocean than us. We were put on the 3rd floor at one end, which meant we mainly had an unsettlingly intimate view of the big parking lots for the large hotel and popular restaurant in front of us. In fact, upon reflection it is hard to imagine a worse room on the "ocean" facing side. To the left of us was the exit for all the autos coming out of the hotel property. To the right was the entrance, so we got to see all the cars entering on the other side. The room was very close to the road, as I explain below. Maybe they wanted to punish us for being married 30 years and coming there to celebrate part of our anniversary? Did they do it because I wanted to check in at 3 instead of 4 and they were irritated by this? Hard to believe it was the only one they had--they were busy like all hotels in the summer but there was no vacancy sign. Surely they could have done better. All the other hotels on our 30th anniversary trip sure did. We also had an unexpectedly close view of the hotel driveway. Because the hotel is up a hill, we got a close view of every car that came onto the hotel grounds and every car that left, and the oversized vehicles unloading, and people walking up and down the driveway over to the beach, and all the people parking for the restaurant adjacent, and all the people parking in the giant parking lot in front of us for the hotel closer to the ocean. And they got to see us if we had our curtains open or were out on our balcony. It felt like we were ending our 30th anniversary trip in the middle of a giant parking lot on view by dozens of motorists and their families rather than having a romantic getaway at the ocean. Maybe the top floor gives you enough distance from all the parking lots surrounding you that you feel like you are at the ocean. We sure didn't; it felt like an odd enclave with balconies facing parking lots and buildings blocking the ocean from us. I was kind of sad I have to admit, and eager to move on to our next stay. Oh yeah their check in time is 4, which I learned after arriving at 2:45 and getting to enjoy some time in their unappealing parking lot, one of the many that make up your surround if you like me make the mistake of paying over $250 to come here for a special occasion. read more

When: Feb 26th to Mar 1st (3 Nights) 2 Adults - Room 2204 Cozy Comfortable and Convenient is the three words that I can best describe the 30-room Shearwater Inn to be. I really like the coziness of this property, in that its compact size, perched on small hill adjacent to the D river and rooms facing the ocean makes this property unique without the cookie cutter feel of the other properties that line Highway 101. Our room, 2204, was a King Standard Room on the 2nd floor. All the King Standard rooms are on this level and the only difference between these rooms and the ones above, is the view and a balcony. The room was very comfortable for two adults with ample space to sit down and enjoy the ocean view or watch the wall-mounted Flat Screen TV. The wife & I really liked the convenience of this location. Easy day trip drives to visit Tillamook in the North or Newport in the South. But in our opinion, the best part of this location is that Kyllo's Seafood Restaurant is right next door to the property. This restaurant can get real busy because of its popularity, with waits of 1 to 2 hours. With that being said, you can check in with the host, return to the comfort of your room and when your table is ready, you head back down to restaurant. The only negatives about this visit is that the parking lot is small with spaces meant for compact cars. Also, the fireplace in room 2204 was not operating correctly, which didn't matter much because of the 50 degree weather. The only reason this review wasn't given a 5-Star rating is the disappointed service we received when we called the front desk for assistance on Sat. Feb. 27th, at around 5:00 pm. We were watching TV, as we were getting ready for dinner, and the TV started reprogramming itself. We called the front desk and her response was that "all you have to do, is unplug the wires behind the box and if that doesn't work, there is nothing else I can do, because I don't have the time to come up to your room". Obviously, we were very disappointed in that response and hope that was an abnormality, rather than the norm. read more

Was so looking forward to returning to Shearwater after our visit 4/5 years ago! Booked SIX months in advance, arrived a bit after check in and and was given the absolute crummiest room location at the property. It felt SO incredibly different than our last stay because of the location. We had the highway directly behind our room and at night the room got very hot ( no ac) so we had to open the window. The road noise was so loud!! Couldn't sleep because of the noise. The room also sat right over the restaurant/parking lot. The property was nicely maintained (as I remembered) and newly remodeled. Employees also helpful and friendly. But, because of this room situation, I doubt we will return or recommend. read more

Wow 1st day of vacation turned out right for a change . This place is special almost like the best kept secret . We had a free stay we thought we would use and it worked out perfect . It's located next to Kilos restaurant has great beach access and you can see the ocean from bed literally . They have wine tasting from 5:30 to 6:30 pm in the main lobby. The atmosphere is so relaxing . You would not believe this part they accept pets up to 40lbs . The room was cleaner smelling than places we have stayed at that don't allow pets . They have games in the lobby you can play either downstairs or in your room you can crab a dvd from there collection if you like movies .Wow just so wonderful here I can't believe we never stayed here . We have just about stayed at every hotel in Lincoln city .. We will definitely be back for another stay . It's really worth the money oh they have free WiFi too . We recently spent a weekend in Lincoln City at the Shearwater Inn. Delightful experience! We were given an oceanfront room on the the third floor with a nice view of the ocean, king bed, fireplace. With COVID restrictions in place, breakfast was delivered which was continental style. The room was immaculate and we thought staff and owners had taken great care in cleaning and disinfecting. We had one glitch-we had trouble with the smart television so I took the remote to the front desk to get help. Alex, the front desk clerk we saw during our stay, was so cheerful and helpful! My husband I stayed here on a weekend getaway and it was exactly as expected. The pictures on Yelp and the pictures on the website are exactly how this hotel is in person. It is definitely an older place, but everything from hospitality, location, and view was perfect. They bring you breakfast to your room, provide a coffee / tea / hot chocolate bar area, and every room has a fridge and microwave which is convenient. I highly recommend getting drinks or food at the restaurant next door called Kyllos. Best part is you can walk to the restaurant and you have direct beach access for long walks or site seeing. After having a terrible experience at the starfish manor hotel in Lincoln city just a few miles away from the Sheawater Inn my husband and I were left with no where to stay on our honeymoon . I was a devistared bride to say the least . The folks at the Sheawater Inn thankfully had vacancy and welcomed us with so much hospitality and kindness. The front desk employees are very kind and have been so helpful since check in. The rooms are very clean and well kept ! Host was friendly to everyone - even spent a little bit of extra time with the elderly to make sure they were taken care of. Details Details! I couldn't believe no one took the time to review this place! This is one of the best Inns we've ever been to and it really feels like a home rather than an inn. The front door was wide open (how welcoming!). We were welcomed in by a gentleman named Danny. We asked what the prices were for rooms. He said there was a king room left for $119. Not too bad. Then Danny asked if we wanted to check out the room, we replied with a surprised 'Yes!' Looking from the exterior (it looks brand new), i figured the interior would look great too. He gave us a key and directions to the room. As we opened the room, we saw the light shining in from the OCEAN FRONT view. Granted, we stayed only on the 2nd floor so I can only imagine how much better the view from the 5th would have been. But we still got a good view seeing as it was the last room. The room was clean clean clean. All white sheets, a few seats, well painted walls, a fridge, and older TV, modern looking bathroom and a huge king bed. We were sold. As we went back down to let Danny know we would take this, he also mentions that we happened to come at a perfect time for free wine and cheese social from 5:30-6:30. So we each drank a glass of wine while playing checkers in the social room with other guests. Other goodies include FREE wi-fi, breakfast in bed, outdoor jacuzzi (no pool), free USA Today paper with breakfast, pet friendly rooms and some of the best service you can find. I'm probably missing a whole load of other things, but if this didn't sound good enough, your other choices are renting from owner rented condos from their older buildings from drunken looking property managers that won't look too eager to help you to save $20. Or the other option is to stay at other older motels for $199/night if they run out of regular rooms and you are left with their suites. read more

There is a restaurant next door (Kyllo's Seafood & Grill) and the beach is literally a few skips away. The hotel is small - 30 rooms or so. It's always quiet and relaxing! Their front desk staff is so friendly and welcoming. My king studio included a comfy bed with crisp white sheets, mini fridge, microwave, fireplace, flat screen TV w/ DVD player, balcony w/ ocean view, 2 robes, a small desk, and a dish of salt water taffy. They offer a nightly 'wine and cheese' social from 5:30-6:30, free wi-fi, a simple breakfast delivered to your room every morning (yogurt, toast, fruit, tea, and coffee), and pet friendly accommodations. We recently tried their Groupon package and stayed for two nights and were very pleased. They go the extra mile to deliver great service and definitely provide more amenities than you'd expect for the price including a fireplace, ocean view, balcony, jetted tub, a free wine social, saltwater taffy in your room, and free breakfast room service. They are also very dog friendly which was nice even though we don't have a dog at the moment. The breakfast tray we passed in the hallway had a bowl with dog biscuits for their pet and the lobby and library has cute dog beds in the corner to ensure everyone, even the furry ones, have a place to sit. On the main floor, they have a comfortable library/sitting room with lots of great books and magazines you can borrow. This is where they host the evening wine social and is a great place for guests to gather. The Shearwater Inn isn't directly on the ocean but the rooms have a great ocean view and it's only a few steps to the beach. The parking is mostly covered which was nice during the rain. We got a king studio suite which had a fire place, a small deck with chairs and a one person jetted tub in the bathroom. My only complaint is that the walls are a tad thin, so if you have noisy neighbors it can be annoying. I was amazed at the gorgeous view we got for such an affordable price.
