This is a perfectly reasonable hotel if your needs are mostly to have a place to sleep while you enjoy Lincoln City and the Oregon coast. We did not utilize a majority of the amenities at the hotel, including the WiFi, fire pits, pool, or restaurant. Pros: The location of the hotel is excellent. It is far enough from Highway 101 that the traffic is not disruptive, but close enough that amenities and activities in Lincoln City are easily accessible. The view of the beach from our room was excellent, and beach access (via several flights of stairs) was convenient. Our room door was equip with a deadbolt, chain lock, and lock in the doorknob. For the most part, the room was clean and quiet, and the mattress and pillows were comfortable. Parking was convenient. Cons: The furniture in the room was not particularly comfortable. The furnishings were either outdated or lacking. The TV was difficult to use. Hand soap for the bathroom was not made available (but, "facial soap" was). The toilet and the sink in the bathroom both leaked/ran after use. Concerns: Our room was not ready and available to us at check-in time. When arriving to our room, after being asked to wait in the lobby, the room smelled strongly of cleaning solutions. During our inspection of the bed, the linens were obviously fresh and clean, but they were covered in hair (like, the laundry facilities they use for housekeeping aren't totally clean). These experiences dropped my rating from 4 stars to 3. read more

The room was nice and the Ocean viewas great! Disappointing was no coffee in Lobby for guest! And no breakfast!! Upon arrival We had to ask for 2 washcloths and 1 hand towel. Because there was only enough for 1 person in the bathroom. Then on Friday we decided to stay over 1 more night. Was not informed of the higher price for a Friday night. I have to agree with all the other reviews that the best thing about Surftides is the view! We had a great view of the ocean! I stayed 2 nights with a friend. She was the one that booked the room and asked if I would like to join her in a weekend getaway. When she first arrived, she noticed some damage in the room. She took pictures and had someone from the office send someone to check it out to make sure we didn't get charged for the damages. We did take advantage of the indoor pool on our 2nd day of the stay. The hot tub did have a heavy chlorine smell, but it still felt good to soak in it. From where I sat in the hot tub, I could see an out of order sign on either the sauna or steam room. I didn't check it out. MIST restaurant is walking distance of hotel, which is convenient. The beds were super tall for me. I'm only 5 foot tall, and I had to do a running jump to get in bed! My friend that is about 5'9ish, said the bed was even tall for her. Other than that, there wasn't anything that stood out with this stay, so the next time I'm in Lincoln City, probably check out other hotels in the area. read more

Ok first of all the beds suck they are so uncomfortable:bouncy,gross and just terrible the bathroom was ok but the faucet in the shower is backwards. I went to turn it all the way to hot and it went freezing, and my timbers were shivered. It was so cold. And the guy above us keeps opening and closing the sliding door and walking around the whole room so the ceilings are very thin. I can hear everything that's going on above me right now and it's so annoying because it is currently 1 AM and we've been trying to sleep for about three hours now we still can't because they keep opening and closing their door right above us and I don't think I'll ever be staying here again because kind of sucks read more

Good stuff: the ping pong game room is cute, clean, and lots of fun. The lobby is nicely decorated. Our bedding was clean. The room was clean. The hotel has its own stairway to the beach. I asked for extra towels and they were delivered super promptly. Staff was friendly. Bad stuff: the room is all hard surfaces with nowhere comfortable to sit, unless you like to sit on the bed. The pocket door to the bathroom gets stuck in open position. The shower water was not hot enough, although the sink tap water got hot. The fireplace for which we were charged a "premium rate" did not work beyond one single sad flame. The place seems overall run down and struggling. Check in had a line out the door with only one desk clerk working. Mist was overpriced, super slow service, unappealing food. read more

DO NOT STAY HERE. We booked a king ocean view room for our anniversary and that was a huge mistake. There was no phone and no clock. The door was sticking and had to be shoved open. The room stunk and I could not sleep. There was a dripping faucet in the bathroom and the toilet seat was painted and appeared to be wet. The one chair in the room was peeling and appeared very well used. The room heater was dirty and the DVD remote was taped together. The food in the restaurant was not the best and I don't plan to return. We left after one night as we could not stand to stay again. Watch out! The phone # on the web page takes you to Expedia and not the hotel front desk. The hotel will not issue refunds when booked through Expedia. For the view this place is totally worth it. It's a very dated hotel trying to be a little fancy. The bed was comfortable. The WiFi was very slow. The Kureg and coffee cups were nice to have. We didn't use the pool or hot tub. The location is great because we just walked to the casino for fun and dinner. The staff checking people in, mid afternoon, seemed annoyed and talked about guests after they left. The night staff were nice. The shuttle was also nice!! I got a deal on booking.com. Where do I begin. We stayed here for one night in August. I picked this "hotel" based on the photos they posted, thinking it was a cute "boutique" hotel that had been updated recently. We go to check in, and the first thing out of the hotel cashier's mouth was "our cable isn't working." Great. At least it was only for one night. The room we were given was supposedly a courtyard view. The view was a parking lot, with a courtyard maybe 200 feet away near the entrance. I didn't expect an ocean view, since I had only reserved the room a month in advance, but seriously. We get into the room. It's warm and muggy. Look for the air conditioning. There is none. Go to sit on the futon in the room, get a hard piece of metal straight to the tailbone. The room is painted mostly in a forest green, making it dark and depressing. The only window in the place is coated with dead bugs and cobwebs. Gross. If you open it, you then hear the sounds on the walkway which it faces. The bathroom was the only space that felt slightly comfortable or refreshed. We were thirsty so went looking for a vending machine. Couldn't find one that takes cards, so had to go the lobby. My husband bought two off-brand small bottles of water. Didn't ask how much before purchasing (our bad) but ended up being $10. And it wasn't even refrigerated. While my husband was in the lobby, another guest had come in to complain about the amenities. She was having a similar experience to us. The cashier did little to appease here, other than offering a 10% discount on her stay because of the cable outage. She asked for it in writing, they refused, she pushed back, and they finally wrote it on a piece of paper, and assured her that it would be on her check-out receipt. When my husband heard this, he asked why we hadn't been given the same discount. They said they only offer that when you complain. So, guess what, my husband complained. They said they would give the credit on our check out receipt. Guess what? When you check out, there is no receipt. He asked about it, and they said, "Oh, it will be reflected on your credit card statement." Guess what? It has been several weeks now, and no credit. This place needs to be shut down temporarily, with a massive deep cleaning by a professional cleaning service, inside and out. It needs fumigating, power-washing, and probably needs a saging to remove the bad juju. They need to update ALL the rooms with fresh paint and furniture if they want to classify themselves as "boutique". They need to update their door entries to electronic and not an old metal key. They need to fix their cable, which has been out for weeks from what I can see. I'm glad that my husband and I have a sense of humor and were only staying here briefly on our road trip, or we would have been so disappointed. read more

My wife and I decided to have a nice overnight stay here. The bad: When we first entered the room the first thing that greeted me was an overwhelming smell of bleach coming from a small bathroom that hadn't seen an update in the last 20 years. The second was how cold it was. Normally, one would simply turn the heater on and problem solved, except the wall heater does not turn on. Luckily, there is a gas fireplace, but hat has a timer of a half hour. OK fine. Snuggle under the blankets. This would be great for rhe fact that this is the thinnest "comforter" that ever bore the name. The ceilings are so low my 5'9" height can palm the ceiling. This wouldn't be an issue if it didn't feel like a hole in the ground. If I wanted to stay in a hobbit home, we would take a vacation to New Zealand. Also, don't trust the wi-fi to keep working. The good: The view of the beach is nice. It's somewhat defensible in the event of a zombie apocalypse. Addendum; they fixed the heater. read more

Way over priced, went to open the door to the balcony screen door fell off. Tried to use the elevator from the fifth floor and it didn't work. Went to the office to let them know and the clerks response was she didn't have any control over it very rude. Staff was friendly and lobby was nice but room was absolutely lackluster and sad. Lighting was ancient and out of date, outlets were minimal, and overall gave a feel of seedy motel. Location, Location, Location! This is definitely a beach property on a budget. With that said, if you're looking to just chill at the beach, Surftides hotel has everything a person could want. It is right on the beach with an easy beach access. (I am permanently disabled with chronic back pain and made it just fine.). The rooms are clean and although they aren't exactly The Ritz, you have everything you need. We tried their restaurant, Mist, which is conveniently located on the property and we had a lovely dinner outside on our balcony. In the a.m., we ordered avocado toast which was excellent. This is a dog friendly hotel but the thing is that you wouldn't know it as they keep the grounds extremely clean! The only mix up was that my husband checked us in, something I normally do as a Travel Agent, and he neglected to read the fine print which said there would be a fine of $250 if you do not tell them (front desk staff) upfront that you have your furry friend with you. It could've turned into an expensive lesson if it weren't for Tony, the front desk manager. He really went out on a limb and was able to get the charge reversed. I have always enjoyed going to LC's Surftides. I used to own a little travel agency named, Lincoln Travel and was fortunate enough to see many properties to compare to. Checked in easily enough and was pretty excited because the lobby was super cute, but things went downhill from there. Spent almost $200 for the night (king room with fireplace) and the only redeeming quality of the hotel was its proximity to the beach. The rooms are small. The bathroom was so tiny in fact, that you couldnt sit on the toilet with the door open. The door pretty much scraped the toilet when opening/closing the door. And to top it off, I tried taking a quick shower in the morning and didn't even hit 10 minutes before the water went cold. The room itself reminded me of an old apartment complex where the landlord just paints a shitty coat of white on everything to hide dirt. The absolute worst part of this hotel was the internet access. We had a room on the first floor and it was a TOTAL dead zone for both me and my partner. We tried connecting to their WiFi multiple times and couldn't get more than one bar before it booted us off. I missed an important call from a family member and couldn't even make dinner reservations without going out to the parking lot and sitting in my car. The hotel is worth $80-$90 a night max and that's only because of the balcony and water access. read more

This place is less than ideal. I want to start with the highlights - it's mostly tidy with a beautiful view and in a great location. But the aesthetic does not match the experience. The indoor pool is freezing both the air and the water. The sauna and steam room are out of order. The walls/floors are paper thin. We had to listen to a dog run and jump for hours late at night and starting again at 5am. Our toilet leaked all over the ground. At checkout there were several people at the desk complaining of plumbing issues, cleanliness, etc. the staff did not seem to care, nor did they even ask how our stay was. One of the best Ocean Front Hotels we've stayed at to date! The lobby is super cute, well decorated, has its own Gift Shop - and has super attentive service from its staff. We were able to check in early, and our room was beyond expectation. A lot of Ocean Front Hotels on the Oregon Coast seem to be run down - but this spot was very well decorated, modern, clean - with a super cute aesthetic. I loved the old style door keys. Rude front desk... shocked! Wife and I have never been treated like that by front desk clerks before. Lady told us we might swipe room keys, we might scam them because they've been scammed before. Snarky and condescending and not welcoming in any way. She said she is proud of being paid to be overly paranoid. Room is big with a lot of blank space, nothing like the picture in the advertisement. Solid 3.5 stars. Room contained: Jacuzzi, mini fridge, microwave, sink, fire, TV, and a little fan. The hotel is on the outdated side (example: they use actual keys and not keycards). The price ($250/night) seemed a bit high for off season and not many rooms appeared booked. If the room were cheaper then it would have been 5 stars but the quality for the price wasn't equal. Overall, the stay was more than adequate. The bed was comfortable enough. The view from out room was amazing. The concierge/front desk lady was nice. We reserved the spot for the pool due to COVID-19 and had the pool/hot tub to ourselves for 30 minutes. The floors seemed a little thin. When we were checking in, we heard housekeeping cleaning the room above us and it was loud! On a positive note, it seemed like they were actually cleaning and moving stuff around. read more

This is an older property right on the beach. Know what you're reserving before you book--you're paying for the beachfront location and a bed to sleep in. If you're expecting 5 stars, you will be disappointed, but if you just need a place to land at the end of a day exploring and a beautiful sunset, you will be happy. It looks like they have done some updating of the rooms in some ways (decor) but in other ways it is very dated (rusted rebar on the room balcony, melted hairdryer cord in the bathroom, stains/water marks on tables). I stayed here three times and three different times they found room damage to bill me for when there's been no room damage or if there was it was from a prior renter. These people are a scam. Their rooms are mold And poorly cleaned. In between nights, we put nuts in our bedding just to come back after room service to find the nuts still there. Food is absolute garbage worse than Denny's. If you want to experience the coastal cuisine, this is not the place to experience it. It'll make you swear of seafood for the rest of your life. The hotel staff is far from what being a hotel staff should be, professional. They take care of themselves more than they do their guest, which is not how hotels work. This hotel is all about location. Here are the positives. Right on the ocean with great views, a clean room with decent beds and patios on the water. Also very easy access to the beach which is great. Its proximity to the casino and downtown is also a plus. The main lady who works during the day is nice and efficient but the rest of the staff is subpar. The negatives are: Little to no cell service Very spotty WiFi No air conditioning Cable and steam room were down with no accommodation provided to guests for this inconvenience. read more

The only reason to give this hotel any stars is because of the location - you can walk straight out on to the beach. But other than that, it is a very tired, run down facility and the photos on the website are very misleading as to its condition. We stayed for one night mid August. When we arrived to check in, there was a small, handwritten sign hanging next to the front desk that said there was no cable, no TV. When we asked about it, the clerk said they should have let us know when we made our reservation - they didn't. Once we got to the room and I went to take a shower, there was no hot water. The next morning there was hot water, so lesson learned....don't take a shower before going out to dinner as I guess everyone is taking a shower after being on the beach. To top it off, when my husband sent management an email about our disappointment in not having cable and not being told in advance and about the lack of hot water; the response he got was that we were told about the cable upon check-in and we could have gone elsewhere at that point (but our night deposit would not have been refunded). No apology, or any other form of acknowledgement that they could have handled the situation differently. read more

We did not receive the room we booked the first photo is the room I booked and the second photo was what I received . As I was getting into the bed I touched a used cough drop that was glued to the inside of the bedsheet the front desk swore they cleaned the room after every stay. They refused to strip our sheets and only gave us extra bedding to figure it out for ourselves nothing was done further to remedy the situation. The broken keruig,broken lamp and no outlets near the bed was also disappointing. The blinds were dirty and the manager was suppose to call me back and they never did go figure. The walls are incredibly thin and you will hear your neighbors. the Steam room and spa are out of service and the jacuzzi has way too much chlorine in it. read more

My teen and I were happy to stay here two nights over Christmas while visiting the paternal grandparents who live in LC. My plan was to stare at the water, read my book,and drink some tea maybe while my kid went and fulfilled the starring role as their only grandchild and opened 85 zillion unneeded presents. I had three directives from my teen ( oceanfront, wifi, indoor pool) and one from my ex ( close to his folks) and I had a budget. My reservation attempt online went badly, it just wouldn't go through, so I called directly like in the olden days and the man was very nice and booked us a cool room with an astounding view for less than the online price listed in record time. Check it out. It was clean and private and really everything was fine.The desk staff called after we had been in our room for a half hour to make sure everything was ok. Ikr? So the walls might be a little thin ( happy kids are loud) and the beds a little hard ( it's not permanent it's a dang hotel) and the door locks not all working perfectly ( missing a chain on the main door, but there was a deadbolt and a locking knob and broken locks on the screen and slider but there's a security bar). We liked it. Also the pool was good,the firepits are nifty, the shower had plenty of hot water, the fireplace in our room was nice, and there is free wifi. People complaining about the wifi speed obviously haven't spent much time at the beach. The wifi is often spotty ( at my former inlaw's 3 story house it's great on two floors but the other is iffy) but it was fine for us in most of the room ( better on one end of the couch than the other). Terrible service, room not ready until 5:30 PM, too dark to enjoy any day light with our room view of the ocean. Asked for late check out to make up for it, staff not empowered to make that decision. Asked for a manager and was told they did not have one. Finally was given an email address to address concerns. Received an email the next day after we had checked out offering late check out and 25.00 credit for breakfast. When I emailed back stating we had already checked out, asked for a voucher for breakfast for another time- they never responded. We stayed at this hotel for 7 days. It is cozy and comfy place to stay. We needed a couple of things-light bulb out. They responded and fixed the bulb in less than 5 minutes. Great view of the ocean. Only concern is the water pressure, but not a big deal. Everyone was pleasant and courteous. read more

All I can say is Wendy is a life saver. We got a terrible room via booking.com at surftides plaza condos. I absolutely do not recommend that place unless you want a nice view of the back of some other houses and a telephone pole. Walked over and talked to Wendy and she made everything great. She got us a fantastic room, at a fair price l, which was below what the junk nextdoor had charged us. Thank you for saving our last night on vacation. read more

I was pleasantly surprised upon checking in. The rooms are updated and clean, come with an amazing ocean view and balcony and fire pits for roasting s'mores. The hot tub area needs updating but was hot and usable. We enjoyed our stay and will definitely come back. read more

Checked in 2-6-21 @1:15 p.m..Room was 46 degrees. Small wall heater that you might find in a very small bathroom. This and the gas fireplace is all the heat these rooms have. At 8:30 p.m. the temp was 61 degrees. When I called front desk was told they would call maintenance, informed them maintenance could not do anything, just no way to heat a room of this size with small heater. The bathroom at the other end from where the heater is never got above 60 degrees. Have been staying here off and on for over 45 years and will not again. They charge a premium price for their rooms and provide something way less than premium. read more

I booked and paid through Expedia. When we checked in they asked for a credit card to bill a $50 fee to, for deposit. Two days after we checked out, they billed my card for another $8.14. No notice or indication of what the charge was for. I called into the office when I saw the charge, spent 30 minutes on hold and was told they don't know why I was charged and the clerk had no way to look it up. The room was left in good shape, nothing taken or damaged. So you say why make a big deal out of an $8 charge. Just think if they do this to all the customers and what that adds up to. Also would note the room prep was poor. One small packet of coffee, no extra TP or towels. I had to go to the office on the second day and ask for TP, coffee and towels as there is no room service. read more
