Oh boy. Where should I even start?! Let's start off positive. The staff who greeted us upon our arrival was super nice during the whole interaction. She gave us some highlights of the property and we were quickly on our way. Also, the hotel WiFi was pretty good. Now for all the gripes, which I hate to do. This was the first time we stayed here. We "splurged" to stay here, rather than another hotel we regularly go to. At over $300 a night after taxes, we were not expecting stains everywhere; chairs, carpet, and bench. The carpet looked particularly filthy to where it hadn't ever been cleaned. A refrigerator that barely got cold after 2 hours of turning it on. Extremely thin walls; we heard kids next door crashing around for hours. The bed felt like we were just lying on a boxspring! If you have a bad back, the next morning you're going to hurt. They couldn't even supply pillows that would fit a king size bed. An establishment usually has one chance to impress their customer, and they certainly didn't impress us. We will never stay here again. read more

The rooms are beautiful, we were in a double queen with ocean view. The bathroom products aren't the typical cheap quality but actually a good brand. It was very clean on arrival and when housekeeping popped by they would empty the trash each day for us. Breakfast was wonderful with a couple of different options each morning-- potatoes, sausage, eggs, different yogurt varieties, they even had an alternate milk selection. There were also staples such as cereal, bread and bagels, waffles, coffee and juice. The trail down to the beach is lit nicely, however it is in need of some repairs for safety. Several of the stones and wood steps are broken, the tape that's supposed to prevent slipping is ripped up and there are some large metal studs that aren't actually in the steps. The ladies in the front desk were both on the phone when we came into the lobby, so we waited for their attention. When one of them got off the phone (long dark haired girl) she said may I help you? She didn't say welcome to the surfland hotel, she didn't even greet us with a smile. Apparently the manager Kinley was sitting right next to her, she was the other lady that was on the phone but had hung up, by the time we were talking to the dark haired lady. We were a little early 2:30 and check in was at 4:00. We had two small children with us. The lady said that the room wasn't available until 4:00 and she was rude when she said that. She asked if my phone number was the right one and said that they will call us. It was just my daughter and I with her kids and we had already lugged our luggage into the lobby. My daughter had to ask if we could leave our luggage with them somewhere, because we didn't want to lug them back to the car because they were heavy. They were both very standoffish. When we came back to the hotel at around 3:00 we were just planning on staying in the lobby until the room was ready because the kids were getting fussy. But when we came into the hotel Darcy (another lady) greeted us with a smile and welcomed us. We told her that the manager and the other lady were very rude, and it was nice being greeted with a smile. Darcy was very nice and accommodating. I think when you spend so much money on a hotel room you would think that the staff would be nice and friendly, and polite. Darcy also called a bit later to ask if our room was clean and nice. And it was. Thank you Darcy you were the shining star at this hotel. And we both appreciated your hospitality. We had two rooms and my room, the pillows smelled musty, so I put a towel over them. Yuck! This hotel unfortunately doesn't have an air conditioner in the room and the windows open about three inches at the most (because they have locks on them). They also aren't accommodating towards handicap people and don't have an elevator. The staff doesn't tell you how to get to the beach too. I found out by asking people around the hotel. Honestly I would never recommend this hotel or its staff, other than the girl that was supplying breakfast she was quite nice. But we will definitely not stay at this hotel ever again. read more

Love the location as it is still in downtown Lincoln City, the rooms are well designed and cleanliness, I would give a 4, views from the room are perfection with the tub in a perfect spot! I got a discount for my room because the jets were not working as well as another perk, but the tub is still comfortable and had plenty of hot water! The deck overlooking the ocean was fantastic, pool and lounge areas are very well designed. The lighting around the doors were very bright to make the hotel feel safe! The furniture could use a refresh and the beds were hard but that's a preference thing. I will be back! read more

Very nice! Great price for the view, comfort and amenities. The breakfast is your typical hotel offerings. Nothing exceptional. When checking in, we were asked if we wanted housekeeping to come in. We said no, but they did anyway. Not sure where the disconnect was. There was no sign to hang on the knob so the assumption was made that my answer "No thank you" would make it clear. Regardless, all was good and would return again! We were on 3rd floor- surprised no elevator. Just a heads up if you struggle with stairs. read more

I made this reservation based on the highest rating, but cheaper hotel in Lincoln city, and it did not disappoint. It's a very nice hotel- even starting in the lobby area. Very clean, and the staff is super nice. The hotel is pretty big and it's right on the water (of course you'll need to walk down some stairs and a path) but the view is definitely worth the price. They also have an outdoor lounge area with some comfy chairs and fireplace. It's a really nice laid back hotel. The room was great: hard floor (which you don't usually see on the coast) but it gave a great beach vibe. Loved listening to the waves crash. And the beds were very comfy. Had a fantastic stay in an ocean view room! Check in/out was easy. Everyone was nice. The place must have been recently renovated, it was super fresh. Everything was clean, plenty of towels in the room. At check in we were offered coffee for the in room French press - yum! Slept with the window open to hear the ocean, the best sound machine!! I really enjoyed my stay here. We came for our anniversary. This hotel has a little of everything you need! We got a room with a fireplace and awesome view of the water. Lobby was nice- fresh cookies, tea, coffee. They sell charcuterie boards and wine- which will get you late check out. Our room was cozy and clean. There were some small splatters on the wall and coat hangers that were a little off putting but overall nothing crazy. I really enjoyed the updated feel and small splashed of color. the star of this hotel is the brand new sauna which really is the reason we booked. i hope they do a lot of upkeep because i would absolutely return just for this. the jacuzzi was just warm, wish it was hotter. i appreciate how they reserve the last 2 hours for just adults in the pool! the breakfast was pretty standard. scrambled eggs, juice, coffee, cereal, yogurt, bagels. Good beach access and areas to layout on the property if you don't feel like venturing down. staff was friendly. whoever re-did this hotel did a great job! read more

This hotel is so clean and chic! The check in lobby is very groovy with plants and unique amenities, and they sell gifts and alcohol late into the evening for a perfect getaway. They are very pet-friendly, even had a baggie with dog goodies waiting for us and several pet relief areas. The main courtyard has several areas for chairs, grills, a fire pit and games to play with friends. The string lights made an excellent ambiance. The rooms are clean, smell good, wood floors so they aren't tracked with smells and sand, and well comfortable beds. They have a pool and hot tub, even an adult-only time between 9 PM-11 PM, and lit up stairs that directly meet the beach. We stayed in a king size room with a balcony and it was great leaving the back door open to hear the waves. The bed was comfy, the TV was good quality and it had a mini fridge and microwave. My only tick would be no air conditioning in the units, some of us run hot! And the TV is cable unless you explicitly ask for a master remote, but once you've got that and your shows set it's awesome. We will be back. read more

Are king suite room 218 was perfect king bed queen, bed, and a private room we had a fireplace in the living room with a giant TV and a deck. It was an end unit and had the perfect view of the beach very clean. The staff was very very accommodating, and the continental breakfast was perfect.!! Can't wait to go back. read more

Very nice. This property is right above the beach with a fantastic view. We decided to come down for a few days and got a room at the Surfland. It's not super fancy but they are renovating and so far looks to be well on the way to a very nice place. We are on the 1st floor close to the parking lot but there isn't much noise. The room is cozy and has a gas fireplace. You can open the curtains and see the Pacific Ocean and the stars at night. we fell asleep to the crashing waves. Mama is in heaven and that's all they really counts anyway right? read more

The free morning breakfast is a step above what you normally experience at a hotel, and the staff throughout our stay was polite and helpful. Our room was not ready at the 4pm check in time. We had to come back. I noticed a bug Friday night, killed it, thought nothing of it. The next morning awoke to A LOT of bugs walking around the room. I let the front desk know. They said they would fumigate when we left the room. We were gone all day to allow for them to spray/clean up. Returned to dead bugs (gross) and that night/next morning more bugs returned. I asked for a refund due to the inability to enjoy our expensive room. Never in my life have I requested a refund but this was ridiculous. They said no refund because the bugs were "harmless". $300 a night - and you are expected to be okay sharing your room with "harmless" bugs. Not sure why any bugs regardless of their harm level is okay. Disgusting. I will be avoiding all of their hotels. They don't care about the customer. read more

Surfland Hotel is the most beautiful spot I've stayed in on the whole coast. The rooms are really clean and new. We got a great room with a balcony overlooking the ocean. The staff was really friendly and kind and parking was super easy. There's a great walkway down to the beach and tons of private areas to chill out in. I was not that big a fan of the indoor pool, but it's nice for people who have children. They do allow pets, but only on the bottom floor, so plan ahead and make sure they can accommodate you if you have a puppy. Look forward to staying here again. read more

This is a really cute hotel for the price. The beachfront rooms are clean and sufficient for spending time at the coast in Lincoln City. You're not going to spend a bunch of time in your room but you want it to be nice when you do. This hotel does that. The ocean view is awesome and worth the cost by itself. The pet fee is only $25 which compared to some hotels is pretty reasonable. read more

Pros- lovely check in area. Beautiful view from our corner room with a patio. And the family really enjoyed the courtyard area with games. The beach access was perfect and the morning breakfast was a nice added perk. The staff were very friendly and helpful. Cons- rooms smelt musky and old. The beds were old and you could feel the springs in the mattress. The box spring covers were stained on both beds. The toilet paper holder was about ready to fall out of the wall and the furniture in the room was stained. The shampoo and conditioner dispensers in the shower were empty. The rooms looked like a really low budget remodel Over all, this is not a hotel I would pick again. It was fine for one night passing through with kids but not a luxury beach getaway by all means. I suppose you get what you pay for but for $350 a night I was hoping for a little more. Now I know to pay the extra for a nicer place. I'm sure this hotel would be perfect for some. Like I said, there are nice parts of it. It just wasn't right for us. read more

This is the Old Nordic Oceanfront Inn with new paint, trendy furniture, and new owner. A Company bought many old school hotels here in Lincoln City. With a facelift to the rooms here at the Surfland, they have done a good job of "putting lipstick on a pig". The great ocean views are still here, but you are paying almost three times as much for the exact same experience, now. What once was a quick and easy weekend getaway has become a twice a year treat. My wife and were on vacation on the coast of Oregon and she found this lovely place on the beach for a pretty reasonable price. The morning breakfast came with it too, which was a nice touch. (Lots of hard boiled eggs, I could eat 4 of them!) The steps down to the beach we crazy steep, so be aware of that. The view from the room is beautiful over the ocean, but we took 2 walks on the beach and the sunset walk was gorgeous. Clean room and great service. Lots of great restrooms around there too. Wonderful staff, clean and comfy room located right on the beach! They have a separate breakfast room, which was spotless and well stocked. Every room has an ocean view and we were able to sleep with the windows open and hear the waves. There are a lot of steps to get down to the beach, but a few spots to stop and take in the view along the way. Omg, I always feel like picking a hotel I've never been to before is a little bit like gambling, and here I DEFINITELY hit the jackpot. Not super expensive, the views were AWESOME, the location was perfect, and the front desk peeps were spectacular! We had a little trouble with the TV at first, but Kindly (one of the front desk people) immediately popped up with the master remote and we got it fixed. The rooms were super clean and modern and the view of the ocean from our balcony looked like it belonged in an advertisement. Beds were comfy, rooms were bright and cheerful.
