The ice machine on the second floor was rusty and dirty. If it's like that on the outside God only knows how it is on the inside.
    Anna W.

The ladies in the front desk were both on the phone when we came into the lobby, so we waited for their attention. When one of them got off the phone (long dark haired girl) she said may I help you? She didn't say welcome to the surfland hotel, she didn't even greet us with a smile. Apparently the manager Kinley was sitting right next to her, she was the other lady that was on the phone but had hung up, by the time we were talking to the dark haired lady. We were a little early 2:30 and check in was at 4:00. We had two small children with us. The lady said that the room wasn't available until 4:00 and she was rude when she said that. She asked if my phone number was the right one and said that they will call us. It was just my daughter and I with her kids and we had already lugged our luggage into the lobby. My daughter had to ask if we could leave our luggage with them somewhere, because we didn't want to lug them back to the car because they were heavy. They were both very standoffish. When we came back to the hotel at around 3:00 we were just planning on staying in the lobby until the room was ready because the kids were getting fussy. But when we came into the hotel Darcy (another lady) greeted us with a smile and welcomed us. We told her that the manager and the other lady were very rude, and it was nice being greeted with a smile. Darcy was very nice and accommodating. I think when you spend so much money on a hotel room you would think that the staff would be nice and friendly, and polite. Darcy also called a bit later to ask if our room was clean and nice. And it was. Thank you Darcy you were the shining star at this hotel. And we both appreciated your hospitality. We had two rooms and my room, the pillows smelled musty, so I put a towel over them. Yuck! This hotel unfortunately doesn't have an air conditioner in the room and the windows open about three inches at the most (because they have locks on them). They also aren't accommodating towards handicap people and don't have an elevator. The staff doesn't tell you how to get to the beach too. I found out by asking people around the hotel. Honestly I would never recommend this hotel or its staff, other than the girl that was supplying breakfast she was quite nice. But we will definitely not stay at this hotel ever again.

Love the location as it is still in downtown Lincoln City, the rooms are well designed and cleanliness, I would give a 4, views from the room are perfection with the tub in a perfect spot! I got a discount for my room because the jets were not working as well as another perk, but the tub is still comfortable and had plenty of hot water! The deck overlooking the ocean was fantastic, pool and lounge areas are very well designed. The lighting around the doors were very bright to make the hotel feel safe! The furniture could use a refresh and the beds were hard but that's a preference thing. I will be back!

Very nice! Great price for the view, comfort and amenities. The breakfast is your typical hotel offerings. Nothing exceptional. When checking in, we were asked if we wanted housekeeping to come in. We said no, but they did anyway. Not sure where the disconnect was. There was no sign to hang on the knob so the assumption was made that my answer "No thank you" would make it clear. Regardless, all was good and would return again! We were on 3rd floor- surprised no elevator. Just a heads up if you struggle with stairs.

    Ocean view. Gorgeous day.

I made this reservation based on the highest rating, but cheaper hotel in Lincoln city, and it did not disappoint. It's a very nice hotel- even starting in the lobby area. Very clean, and the staff is super nice. The hotel is pretty big and it's right on the water (of course you'll need to walk down some stairs and a path) but the view is definitely worth the price. They also have an outdoor lounge area with some comfy chairs and fireplace. It's a really nice laid back hotel. The room was great: hard floor (which you don't usually see on the coast) but it gave a great beach vibe. Loved listening to the waves crash. And the beds were very comfy. I can't wait to go back.

This hotel is so clean and chic! The check in lobby is very groovy with plants and unique amenities, and they sell gifts and alcohol late into the evening for a perfect getaway. They are very pet-friendly, even had a baggie with dog goodies waiting for us and several pet relief areas. The main courtyard has several areas for chairs, grills, a fire pit and games to play with friends. The string lights made an excellent ambiance. The rooms are clean, smell good, wood floors so they aren't tracked with smells and sand, and well comfortable beds. They have a pool and hot tub, even an adult-only time between 9 PM-11 PM, and lit up stairs that directly meet the beach. We stayed in a king size room with a balcony and it was great leaving the back door open to hear the waves. The bed was comfy, the TV was good quality and it had a mini fridge and microwave. My only tick would be no air conditioning in the units, some of us run hot! And the TV is cable unless you explicitly ask for a master remote, but once you've got that and your shows set it's awesome. We will be back.

Had a fantastic stay in an ocean view room! Check in/out was easy. Everyone was nice. The place must have been recently renovated, it was super fresh. Everything was clean, plenty of towels in the room. At check in we were offered coffee for the in room French press - yum! Slept with the window open to hear the ocean, the best sound machine!! I would stay again! Didn't get to check out the breakfast, the place was packed. Plenty of parking.

Perfect hotel for a weekend getaway in Lincoln City. Gave off a special boutique vibe. Check in was a breeze. Room was spotless. Ocean view was mesmerizing. Common areas were well thought out and organized. Pool and sauna were epic. Breakfast was efficient. Not sure what more to say, we'll definitely stay here again next time.

The waterfront on the backside of the hotel!

We went here for Valentines Day 2024! Was truly so romantic and the view of the ocean was to die for! Can't wait to return in 2025!

Very nice. This property is right above the beach with a fantastic view. We decided to come down for a few days and got a room at the Surfland. It's not super fancy but they are renovating and so far looks to be well on the way to a very nice place. We are on the 1st floor close to the parking lot but there isn't much noise. The room is cozy and has a gas fireplace. You can open the curtains and see the Pacific Ocean and the stars at night. we fell asleep to the crashing waves. Mama is in heaven and that's all they really counts anyway right?

Seriously this is my new favorite hotel in Lincoln city! It's clean, it's modern, has a big pool and awesome customer service! Mel was the person checking me in and she is SO helpful!!

We were only there one night, but I have to tell you, it was a really nice hotel experience! I reserved the Family (fireplace) suite. The hotel has two floors and this was on floor 2. We had a nice roomy balcony with two chairs for sitting in while soaking in the beauty. The room itself was really large, with a king bed in the main and a queen, I believe, in a separate room. TVs in the main room and the bedroom. The fireplace was gas, gave off nice heat at night as it got chilly outside, and added to the ambiance. This hotel has breakfast! This was also a pleasant experience. They had the usual cereals and yogurts, but also had big waffles and biscuits and gravy! The food was good! We brought a bottle of wine ourselves, but I did notice they sell wine and beer in the lobby, which is nice, right? I definitely would (and will) stay there again the next time we are in the area. I forgot to take pics of the room itself. Sorry about that. You can check out their hotel website to see it. The next time I stay there I will fix this! In the meantime, here are a couple shots from the balcony of our room. The staff were warm, friendly, and helpful. All in all, a really nice time. Thanks, Coho!

We did not utilize a majority of the amenities at the hotel, including the WiFi, fire pits, pool, or restaurant. Pros: The location of the hotel is excellent. It is far enough from Highway 101 that the traffic is not disruptive, but close enough that amenities and activities in Lincoln City are easily accessible. The view of the beach from our room was excellent, and beach access (via several flights of stairs) was convenient. Our room door was equip with a deadbolt, chain lock, and lock in the doorknob. For the most part, the room was clean and quiet, and the mattress and pillows were comfortable. Parking was convenient. Cons: The furniture in the room was not particularly comfortable. The furnishings were either outdated or lacking. The TV was difficult to use. Hand soap for the bathroom was not made available (but, "facial soap" was). The toilet and the sink in the bathroom both leaked/ran after use. Concerns: Our room was not ready and available to us at check-in time. When arriving to our room, after being asked to wait in the lobby, the room smelled strongly of cleaning solutions. During our inspection of the bed, the linens were obviously fresh and clean, but they were covered in hair (like, the laundry facilities they use for housekeeping aren't totally clean). These experiences dropped my rating from 4 stars to 3.

They accommodated my request to help with my stay, and the person at the front desk even remembered me when I checked in! They have a covered parking area which I very much appreciated in the rain. The room has a mini-fridge and a microwave. They have a great little sink for filling big water bottles, making tea, etc. no trying to fill the coffee pot in the bathroom sink. The room was also impeccably clean. Rooms that aren't fully cleaned can really put me off about a place. Not here. They seem to have high standards for everything they do here-- and everyone they hire. A gentleman who was from housekeeping even walked me to the elevator when I got turned around as I went to check out. He noticed my hands were full and hit the button for the lobby for me. As I was writing this review, I got a phone call. I had forgotten my favorite lunch box in the fridge! I hadn't gotten terribly far, so I still have time to go back. If you're on the fence, book it. One more neat thing: I got a way better rate booking directly with Starfish Manor. It shocked me, but it bears mentioning. I almost always use Expedia, but while I was looking for more room info on booking, I was delighted to find this. I will 100% be back. I recommend this highly. Our experience at Starfish Manor Hotel fell shockingly short of basic decency. We checked in on Friday, July 3rd, and returned at 10:30 PM to find the bathroom and shower covered in hair. With no other rooms available, the front desk agent (Stacy) refused to call housekeeping and offered zero solutions. I was forced to ask for cleaning supplies myself. She delivered rags, a spray bottle, and a nearly empty roll of paper towels. As healthcare professionals who understand basic hygiene standards, we had to clean someone else's hair out of our own hotel bathroom just to use the shower safely. Stacy promised housekeeping would handle it first thing Saturday morning (7/4). Instead, we returned at 11:00 PM to find the bathroom completely untouched. Once again, we had to disinfect it ourselves late at night. The worst part of this stay was the management's appalling response at checkout on 7/5: 1- Gavin read the notes, brushed us off, and offered a measly 20% credit for making guests do manual labor on their vacation. He then ignored us to talk to the Assistant Manager, Jaime. 2 -Jaime took over with zero apologies. Instead of taking accountability, she claimed it was our responsibility to follow up on their broken promise. 3- She insultingly suggested the bathroom "must not have been that dirty" since we stayed, and told us we simply could have gone to another hotel--completely ignoring the reality that it was a busy, sold-out 4th of July holiday weekend and finding another room at 11:00 PM was impossible. She then stated they would have only "helped us clean" the second night. Guests should never be expected to "help" clean a room they paid for. 4- Jaime ended the interaction by defiantly telling us to "do whatever we want" because she wasn't doing anything else for us. I noticed a sign in the lobby warning about a "zero-tolerance policy for aggressive customers." After experiencing their defensive, gaslighting, and entirely unapologetic management style, it is clear that what they label as "aggression" is actually just paying customers expressing justifiable frustration at an utter lack of common sense and basic cleanliness. ***** The management completely blames the consumer for their own operational and cleanliness failures.
