I had my first haircut since the lockdown here - I had been once before and was impressed with the service then, but they blew me away on my second visit. Maria was my stylist and she was incredible - she understood exactly what I was looking for. My hair texture is really unforgiving and has given stylists difficulty many times - she knew exactly how to handle it, and cut and styled it with precision. Beyond my cut, which was expertly done, the whole shop has a really pleasant, community vibe to it. It really depends on who you get! One of the staff are really really good and the others are not so much. I think you should find the person you like and stick with them. It can be tricky because you have to wait for that person, but I believe it's the best way to go. My fiancé has got several cuts from here. His first was very good, shave was excellent. Second was very bad (supper choppy, uneven), third time it was much better, but not as good as the first. I think it's because he had someone else do it the last two times. We will go back to the person who did a nice job and stick with her in the future. Or try another place in the neighborhood. The staff here are very kind, which is why we still go back. Clientele might be mostly men, but this is my new place (the first real good one I've found in Brooklyn) for a good, reasonably priced, women's trim. I have very straight hair that tends to dry and split easily, so trims are a must but I prefer not to pay full salon prices for quick cleanups. Lana took her time, made sure I understood everything, and included a wash, condition, and basic blowdry (explaining that making it a full blowout would have added $$), and I was happy with the result. Might go a few more times before I decide if this is the right place to update my style, but I'm so happy my trims have a home! read more

Thank god for establishments that don't charge short-haired women twice as much for a haircut just because they're women!! My boyfriend and I got our hair cut together here and we were both charged $25, which is exactly as it should be. I remember when we both got our hair cut at Dvir down the block and they charged my boyfriend $40 and me $70 for what was basically the same haircut. Seriously? I came here for the first time as a walk-in on a Saturday morning right after they'd opened. I got my hair cut by Ella who, while new to this location, had actually worked with them in the past. The short review is I loved both the cut and the service. Ella did a great job listening to what I wanted, asking questions to get it right, and taking her time to make it exactly how I wanted. Since this was my first time she walked me through what she was doing with my hair, and even left it a little long at first (how I'd asked) to make sure I got it to just the right length. In addition to a great cut, she was a pleasure to chat and shoot the shit with. When I gave her a hard time that her water bottle was an old tequila bottle, one of the owners asked if I wanted an actual drink (shot of vodka), even though it was 9:30 am in the morning. Under the pretense of YOLO I accepted, and the shot wasn't even half bad. All-in-all a great haircut, experience, and price ($20, as they currently have a $5 off yelp deal). I moved into the neighborhood and was looking for a new barber. I've been going to this place for close to 7 months and have never had a problem. But this time, I got one of the worst haircuts of my life. I didn't even realize until I got home because I wasn't even shown the 360 view of my hair afterwards. The thing that is strange is that the woman who cut my hair was so friendly with me during my cut that you'd think she would mention her mistake of shaving a patch of my hair off. Instead she allowed me to leave without saying a single thing and accepting my money, knowingly that this haircut was done poorly. Sheer madness is awesome! While most barbers in New York charge 50-60$ for a 30 minute simple mens cut, sheer madness is a respectable (if not a downright deal) 25 dollars for said cut. Steven whom I presume is the owner was friendly when I walked in, the wait was short, even for walk ins. I had Lena as my cutter and she did a tremendous job with a nice fade and trim on top. A simple haircut that some barbers Ive been to either overprice or get completely wrong. She also was good with me letting her know changes I wanted in the middle of the haircut ie: shorter sides and more of a fade. Didn't listen to anything I asked for. Shaved the back of my head when I specifically asked for scissors only. And didn't actually even seem to know how to cut hair - for example, she cut straight across with the scissors in the upper part of the back which then created shelves in my hair. That's not how you do texture. You angle the scissors downward. Worst haircut since college when I went to a SuperCuts. Eventually I just gave up and asked her to stop cutting. read more

Went in here telling the barber EXACTLY what length I wanted my cut. during the haircut I repeatedly told them it wasn't short enough but they refused to cut shorter. This is not a good experience and won't return. Go down the block there is a better barber shop. Steven just wants to rush you out so he could take the next customer.
