Sheetz, Benner Pike, State College, PA After a long night shift, I used the drive-through to order a bagel with cream cheese. In the dark, I could see the bagel was oddly wrapped, like shrink-wrap around the small looking sandwich? The first bite was shockingly tough, extremely dry and tasteless. The cream cheese was absorbed into the dried-out bread, there was no taste of cream cheese, I could not finish it. This was no over-sight. They were not busy. That sandwich has been exposed to the environment for days, and God knows what else. The Sheetz kitchen staff purposely served this disgusting object to me. I had heard rumors of Sheetz locations without the gas station, but that's all they were for a while. They were suppose to open one in Pittsburgh near the Pitt campus, but that has yet come to be. Since I was in State College and out walking the streets I figured I would find the mythical beast that I have heard of. My first attempt at finding it, I walked right past it. You see, growing up in a small town that had one of the original looking Sheetz out there, you automatically are looking for gas pumps and big, shining, humming lights in the parking lot. Not an urban looking cafe thing that this particular one is. Don't get me wrong, every so often when I get that craving for some Sheetz I really don't want to have to fight my way through a parking lot full of vehicles to get my food, I just want to be able to eat it before I get it home and it has already started to cool off a bit. My second attempt, armed with my handy dandy map on my phone, I still walked right past it. Yep, that's right, that was me that you saw do an about face while looking at my phone screen. The building blends in so well that I thought it was a coffee shop at first. Glad I looked up from my phone for a few seconds. Watch your step coming in here, with the grade of the street the stairs a bit weird, but there is also a ramp to get to the store. Once inside you find that it is longer than it is wider. Due to this, it feels much bigger than what you would imagine. This is like a huge convenience store, with some fast food. But then add in the fact that you can sit in house and enjoy it. Not just sit in house, but you can sit here and get some work done too, why, because it does come off like a coffee house as well. Don't want to sit inside, guess where, there's outside seating that overlooks the sidewalk. So take in that fresh air when you are shoving that MTO goodness down your throat. Customer service, at least to me, was top notch here. I did not have a bad interaction here. Everything was neat and clean, all the shelves were well stocked, and I really couldn't find a fault in this place. What I learned today is that Big Foot is real and that I encountered that. What I mean by that is that a Sheetz with no gas pumps exists, and it works. I really wish this concept takes off and these types of locations start popping up more often. Only that they not just pop up near college campuses would be great too. Kind of funny if you think about it. Sheetz started out kind of like this and then added the gas, now they are heading back towards that. read more

Sheetz on Pugh Street, what a fun little hellscape. The spot to be if you are a college student looking for quick and cheap alcohol on the go. If you have yet to experience the Hieronymus Bosch-ian nightmare that is this 24/7 quick pit stop, try and visit during peak hours of 1 am to 3 am any college night. You can really see the stress on the people who work there on their faces. Plus sometimes you can watch business majors start drunk fights with their security guard. I ordered for delivery during the day, so I thought I would be safe from mischief. The delivery driver tossed half my order on to the street, never called and forgot half my order. I called the store and asked what had happened, and the guy who picked up told me the rest of my order was in the store. I told him about what happened to with the driver and he just said "aw, I hope you have a better day" and hung up on me. The food was overcooked and dry. Just stop in if you want Sheetz downtown. This is my safe place. Not sure if I would show my face here in the daytime, but Sheetz is probably some of the best drunk food you can get in all of state college. You might have to wait 10-15 minutes on a busy weekend, but it's totally worth it in my opinion. I would sell my right hand for their BOOM BOOM SAUCE!! If I could buy this stuff by the gallon I would. Fried Mac and cheese bites, curly fries, and fried pickles are all my favorite apps. You really can't go wrong here. Just a heads up- employees working the registers are VERY intense/strict/aggressive about IDs if you're buying alcohol. Be ready to play 20 questions about your life to prove your identity :) read more

I am writing this review while waiting for my food. It's been 50 minutes and people that have been here 20 minutes before me have not received anything left. This place may be the worst option for food in all of state college. Avoid at all costs because eating the dirt on the hub lawn would be better. Update: took 2 hours and 3 minutes to get my food. Never going here again. I'd rather walk to the Atherton sheets. read more

Besides the poor food quality, if you're a vegetarian/vegan avoid this place. Been here about 5 times (because of friends) and out of those they've messed up the order 4 different times in a row. Terrible service. Wouldn't bring out a manager to confirm an ID. Refused to serve due to the birthdate response being "slow" as he claimed. Refused to see any of the other government IDs that would confirm my identity. Poorly managed and even more poorly run. Don't know why someone would think a vertical ID from in state would be fake. If you are purchasing alcohol there are other places that are better and cheaper than this sheetz. read more

Pretty consistently fuck up my order, this past time I asked for extra meat, extra cheese, got an egg between a croissant. Tryin to go home very late night and grabbing some food after working all night and it sucks that not only did I throw away an extra few dollars but the food is not good whatsoever. Honestly this place is so chaotic and disrespectful. I understand that it's a bunch of college students in there but I was actually close to calling the police because they really tried to scam us. We waited almost 2 hours for a burrito and hash browns. They continuously said we didn't pay for our food but we showed them in person our recites and then they would continue to walk away. Also the bouncer isn't helpful he's an armature at the least. We tried going to him for help but he ignored us and pretty much told us to F off. just wanted a plain hot black tea (seriously who doesn't have this), but they only have hot chai tea, and you have to get milk in it. Sheetz is open 24/7! This is my favorite spot to go to for food and a drink while I'm studying. They have everything you could want for a late night bite. They have breakfast, lunch, dinner & cool computers you can order from. If you need a soda, slushie, coffee, water, or even beer - they have it. You need a salad, sandwich, pizza, burrito? They have it! So a great place!!! They have some seating too, so you can eat there if you wish. read more

This Sheetz was one of the first places to get a beer selection once PA gave us the green light to join the rest of the country in selling it. Well, this Sheetz has no parking, other than street or just across the road in the Pugh Street garage. However, they have a very comprehensive selection and a big walk-in cooler, so it's already cold. No, it's not just watered down Bud, it's stouts, IPAs, single serve cans etc. Then add in their pretty nice selection of to-go foods, candies, coffees and quick check-out, it's worth the trip. read more

This is by far the worst Sheetz that I have ever been to. Normally, I love my Sheetz, a comforting aspect in my life. However, this Sheetz, in particular, has made me question my views. Every time I have been here, it takes what seems like hours to receive my food. On one occasion, I ordered both regular fries and curly fries.
