I have been a patient of Dr. Dobee's for over 15 years, and over that time I have developed not only trust in her as my dentist, but a genuine appreciation for who she is as a person. From the very beginning, we instantly connected through heartfelt conversations, and one thing I love most is that after all these years she has remained exactly the same -- kind, compassionate, genuine, and someone who truly cares about her patients as people. Dr. Dobee has always been known for thinking outside the box, using the best materials and treatment options, and putting her patients first. So when my boyfriend unexpectedly fractured his front tooth around 10 PM on April 24th, I immediately knew who to call. Even knowing we would likely be cash paying rather than using insurance, I had complete confidence that she would help us navigate the situation and find the best possible solution. I texted Dr. Dobee and sent photos despite it being late on a Friday night, and she responded right away. Shortly after, Dinesh, the office manager, contacted us and scheduled my boyfriend to be seen first thing Saturday morning. From the moment we walked in, every person treated us like family. We were seen by Dr. Hawari, who I have also been a patient of and have always known for his incredible restorative dental abilities and attention to detail. He immediately came across as compassionate and reassuring and focused on helping us move forward rather than sitting in guilt and stress over the situation. He took X-rays, examined the tooth carefully, consulted with us, and explained our options every step of the way. He initially performed a composite build-up on the front tooth and honestly it looked incredible -- you would never have known there had been an accident. What stood out most was his honesty and attention to detail. Rather than simply continuing treatment, he noticed there could potentially be a root fracture and immediately shifted directions because he wanted to make sure the treatment plan was right. He coordinated care with Dr. Frankie, who specializes in same-day implants. When we met Dr. Frankie, one of the first things that stood out was how down-to-earth, understanding, and empathetic he was. He immediately made my boyfriend feel comfortable during what was already a stressful situation. One thing he said really stayed with me: he would never do anything to my boyfriend that he wouldn't do for his own mother or family. I found that incredibly commendable because it showed genuine care and integrity. It truly felt like everyone involved was thinking outside the box and trying to determine what was best for my boyfriend and, most importantly, trying to save his natural tooth if possible. After further evaluation, Dr. Frankie consulted with Dr. AC. What happened next honestly amazed us. Dr. AC had already completed a full day but still stayed late unexpectedly, reviewed the imaging, discussed options with the team, and continued his evening until almost 10 PM helping my boyfriend. He and his assistant prepared the room, performed a successful root canal, and everyone worked together to create the best possible treatment plan. We later went to Micro Dental Lab in Livermore for color matching, and even there we experienced the same kindness. As soon as we mentioned Dr. Dobee's name they immediately knew who she was. We were treated with such warmth and even given a tour of the facility near the end of their shift, which was incredibly thoughtful. What stood out most throughout this entire experience is that everyone associated with Dr. Dobee feels like a real person first and not just a doctor. My boyfriend's insurance is not great and we were paying cash, but not once did we feel treated differently. This could have been a devastating experience considering it involved a front tooth and such an important cosmetic area, but they made the process smooth, reassuring, and manageable. I had a dental implant done at another office, but less than four years later the abutment and crown fell out. When I returned to the original dentist, I was told the implant was fractured and that I would need surgery to remove it and redo the entire implant. I was referred to a so-called specialist, but that doctor simply repeated the same conclusion--without even taking an X-ray in his office. I decided to seek a second opinion, and I am incredibly fortunate to have found Dr. Dobee. From the very beginning, her approach made a world of difference. She took a new X-ray in her office and found no sign of a fracture. She then requested the original X-ray used for the initial diagnosis as well as the implant model for further verification. Dr. Dobee went above and beyond in her evaluation. When she opened the gum, there was no bleeding inside the implant, which strongly indicated there was no fracture. She then examined the implant using her high-end 20× electron microscope and found no evidence of damage. In addition, the screw was able to seat with the expected torque, further supporting her conclusion. She also used an implant stability measurement system to rule out the presence of a fracture. All of these objective findings led her to determine that the implant was intact. Based on solid evidence--not assumptions--Dr. Dobee developed a conservative treatment plan: she ordered a new screw, modified it as needed, and reused the existing crown. Today, she completed the treatment, and everything fits perfectly. Dr. Dobee truly saved my implant. Throughout the entire process, I was deeply impressed by her professionalism and, more importantly, her compassion. She genuinely thinks from the patient's perspective, and every decision she makes is backed by facts--X-rays, high-resolution microscopy, measurements, and expert consultation. This review is for the scheduling staff! I haven't been to the dentist in a couple years and found this location so I decide to inquire about scheduling an appt. I chatted with someone on their website giving them my insurance info that they then forwarded to someone else who called me. That lady took down my information along with my insurance info. I fill out all of the pre appt forms and they called back letting me know they received them. I am pretty sure I put my insurance info in that form too! I have anxiety about going to the dentist so I was already nervous. I drive almost 30 minutes to the mission location and they check me in only to find out they do not take HMO only PPO. Even when I was on the phone with the lady she asked what I had and I said "I'm not sure." They then offer their services but I have to pay $558?! Why would they even offer that if I have insurance??? I get that they don't accept HMO but but seriously!! I told her I could not afford that! Very sad to have such a difference in updates. Long story short, I will never be coming back. A dental assistant who can't even floss teeth, went in paying $303.. then they said it's been revised to $190... without explanation as to why. Then when I was finished I was told by Sheila dobee's husband that I owe over $400 from 2021 which I have never heard of before this (mind you every time I would come in there would be a mystery charge I owe of $50 or $100 but then they would say never mind it's been taken care of) so we went from $303.. to $190 to then paying over $500 in one day. All of this also took extremely long. Nobody knows what's going on or why payments are what they are. Still have no idea why I never heard of such a large payment owed since 2021 and first time hearing it in 2026 when I've gone in plenty since then. Very, very disappointing and upsetting. Requested to transfer my X-rays to another dentist so I can get filling and they told the other dentist the wrong tooth that was in need of filling. If it weren't for me double checking and researching the tooth distal numbers, I would have gotten the wrong tooth filled. They also missed to point out I needed 2 fillings not just 1, which would have led to a root canal down the road. How could a dentist make this mistake? I literally am up in arms about this place. It used to never be like this. Now, they treat you like cattle in an assembly line, don't really care about how their actions cause clients stress, and brush this all off entirely unless you write a review about it. Also, How would you feel if you showed up to your appointment and they don't even give you any notification that it was cancelled? ‍ Things have changed for the worse and I wish I could say the same glowing things about this place. But, I can't anymore. This place is like going to a glamorous Four Seasons hotel with substandard customer service and they know they can get away with it--everything is glitzy on the outside but on the inside there are things that need to get fixed. I have been a client for quite some time now, and this is a review of the system and process of this dental office. Don't get me wrong--Dr. Dobee and the dentists are great and friendly, but there were a few incidents that just made me realize how much the customer service of this place has degraded over the past few years and months. And the experience from this place has made me realize that you need to do your homework double checking that their diagnosis and info they give you is correct and that you need to double confirm everything like your life depends on it. My biggest gripe about this place is that they don't do enough of a good job notifying you of things that come up. And you end up either wasting your time showing up to your appointment and find out after-the-fact the office closed early or that they are short staffed and your 1 hour cleaning becomes a 3 hour ordeal and wait. It's like your doctor tells you "see you at 3p" and they never show up. Who does that? I understand things come up and some staff need to leave early for extenuating circumstances, but I had to wait 2-3 hours once to get seen when my appointment Could have been rescheduled or given the option to reschedule without a cancellation fee. Also, the personnel that helps you reschedule is located in another country, so they won't really have a sense of what is happening in the office. They try to get as many slots filled in back-to-back and if there's one delay in an appointment, this cascades to other appointments being super delayed. Think of your flights getting delayed or canceled except they DON'T TELL YOU. One time, I canceled my travel plans to visit an ailing parent just to get my cavity filled since there was an opening and took the soonest appointment. I showed up at the office and filled out all the forms before coming and was sent a text that my appointment is confirmed. And I show up, and Behold, NO ONE WAS THERE and the office was closed. Imagine being left in the dark. I drove 2 hours that day just to get to the dentist and finally get some reprieve from my cavity pain and not even one phone call or text or email telling me my appointment was cancelled. The least humane thing they could have done was tell me they will cancel and rescheduled it to the soonest time and date. Who does that? If they charge a late cancel or no show fee, why can't clients charge a fee for dentists failing to show up to your appointment and not letting you know they're not coming? Is it because the clients time is less important than the dentist's time? How would you feel if this happened to you? If you're okay with this, then this is the dentist to be in. Things I like: 1- Good quality work 2- equipment is new 3- nice location Things I Didnt like. 1- Dr. Dobbe doesn't perform any procedures. 2- you have to pay for some procedures and wait for check to come in the mail. 3- their orthodontist is not in-house. 4- charges are sometimes shady check everything before you sign. 5- under staff my wife has to hold her own suctioning device while getting work done. 6. They try to maximize the benefits to make the most money so dont listen to them get your most important and crucial procedures first. I had several visits at this dental office already. The office is clean and nice. I like using the massage chair at the lobby while waiting for the doctors. My hygienist, Jennifer Kelly, is pretty nice. She did a good job doing cleaning and always follow up with me after the visit to see if everything is OK. The doctors here are nice too. I was a patient for five years until I could no longer take the constant issues with their billing department. Whatever the case was it always took a long time to get the issue resolved. And no matter how many times I called or how many staff members I spoke to, it was always very difficult to get any level of support. It's unfortunate to admit that this has been the worst customer service experience I've ever had!!! I gave a very good review 2 years ago for this dental office because of Dr Hawari. However, I found out that my dental insurance company was billed 2 yrs ago of $1500 for a crown that I did not receive. The dental insurance paid their office for a service that I did not get. How did I find out about this? I went to another dentist and I was told that I have already used the allowance for the molar tooth that the crown was supposed to be put on. I did not check and I'm not in the habit of checking claims done to my insurance as I trusted them until this happened. I called their office and even the front desk personnel agreed she could not find a seating appt for when the "crown" was supposed to be put on. There was even no fitting involved for a crown because I was told by Dr Hawari that I needed to see their Periodontist for an advise about my molar and their Perio was not in on the day I came to their office. I have been in contact with Danesh who happens to be the husband of Dr Sheila Dobee about this charge. He told me I have to pay them some $200 plus for something and that he will be in contact with the dental insurance company. It has been weeks now and I still have not heard from him. I was also charged $535 when I visited their office 2 years ago and they had to refund me back for it because I did not get the service again. I had to fight for this too and it took them more than a month to do the refund. After years of having terrible dental experiences, I was so so very happy to have found Dr. Dobee and the entire crew at her Mission office. I originally went in years ago to have her clean up a bad crown job that a previous dentist had done, but I stayed with her after realizing how thoughtful, experienced and just truly warm and friendly she and her staff were. A total zero pressure atmosphere. I am finally getting around to reviewing her because I wanted to let people know how serious she is taking the COVID-19 precautions! I am impressed with the measures she has taken to ensure patient and staff safety, all while still having the same amazing atmosphere! She has special air ducts that hover directly over the mouth workspace and the air is recycled through a UV cleanser/purifier. All staff are wearing masks, face shields and the entire process has become touch less as online surveys and payments are now electronic if desired! Being a research scientist, I actually felt safe and comfortable with all of her extra measurements It sounds weird to get excited over a dentist. But if you visit Dr. Dobee you'll find yourself in front an amazingly hilarious woman who is up to date with the latest dental technologies and someone who truly truly loves her job. I came to this office after reading reviews on yelp, I was very happy to say the office perfectly mirrored all of the positive reviews. From beginning scheduling to checking in to sitting in the chair, everything was a breeze. I was able to see the doctor within 48 hours of me calling. Once I've checked in I got sat, the literal best person came to my aid. La Veena she was incredible. Super warm, huge smile and infectious laughter. She made my Xrays and initial set up a complete breeze! I definitely am recommending this office just based on her alone! Secondly, Dr. Hawari. Wow. What a Doc. I learned more about my oral health in one hour with him, than I have at multiple dentist offices. He was exceptionally nice, easy going and super intelligent. With really super high tech gear. The offices are super clean. There's actually two offices one in central Fremont and the other new office in the Mission San Jose area of Fremont. With my treatment plan shes been using a laser machine with apparently only a hundred or two in the entire nation! Let's just say, I needed a lot of work done because of my lack of follow up in years prior and maintenance but with a lot of education and consistency in maintaining my appointments with Doctor Dobbee we're on track to my best most healthiest smile. This place is named Sheila Dobee, you'd think that you're doctor will be Sheila. I never met her and had random doctors. This dentist office loves scaming patients on what they quote you in person versus what they actually bill you, I don't understand why they haven't been audited with their fraudulent billing. From the amount they over charge you to who actually performs your procedure, they have numerous ways to take advantage of their patients. The office also uses dental students which I wasn't comfortable with and they don't acknowledge when they make mistakes. They will find ways to blame the patients instead of accepting responsibility that they messed up. Real medical professionals will own up to their mistakes. Don't go to this place, Sheila Dobee seems to be narcissistic. She's way into her personal vanity, just take a look at what pictures she chose to post on her yelp page. Plus the dentist office is full of magazines with her face on the cover that was published years ago. We get it, you were on one magazine cover and now you think you're the face of dentistry. I am writing this review to warn others of my experience and hope that others can avoid the same thing from happening to them. Dr. Dobee is knowledgeable and conducts a thorough history, physical, assessment and plan. Her office is friendly on the outset; however, I have to leave her practice because I cannot trust the office management and billing practices. After I had a few procedures completed, their office manager, Alisa, sold me on an extra cleaning stating on 3 separate occasions that it would be covered under my insurance. I received the extra cleaning in September and got a $175 bill two months later. When I inquired about the issue, they apologized and said that they miscalculated and that my insurance was maxed out from my previous procedures, which is why I was left with a $175 bill. I understand that mistakes happen, but I feel like I accepted the sale under false pretenses. Had I known that it would not be covered under my insurance, I would not have agreed to an extra cleaning. However, people aren't perfect and make mistakes and I understand that. I decide to give them a second chance and return for a toothache. After being examined by Dr. Dobee, she decides to hold off any interventions because of health risks posed to my pregnancy and I agree to her assessment and plan. When I asked the front office to give me a quote on how much the exam would cost, Alisa verbally quoted me $69 without a receipt. The next day, I emailed her for a receipt for my records and was stunned with a bill for "Palliative treatment of pain" for $157. Again, no medications were prescribed and no procedures done for my toothache. Not only was the description of the dental appointment inaccurate, she billed my insurance company for more than twice than what she quoted. I've contacted Alisa last week about this issue and she has yet to respond to me. Another issue I had was that I felt that their office was always trying to upsell me. They're a business and I get it; however, there is a fine line between getting recommendations and understanding your options as patient versus feeling pressured to get something you don't need. I hope this review helps people out there. Please be careful and always check your bill and receipts ASAP. Report to your insurance company if their office overcharged you for any procedures. Also, keep a record of your procedures and its costs so you can keep track of whether or not you've reached your insurance limit because you cannot trust their office to do it accurately. I found this clinic here on Yelp and had an excellent experience with the service, everyone was attentive and careful with me from the beginning to the end of the treatment, always notifying the appointments in advance and if there was any cancellation they would also notify in advance. I went to Dr Dobee for 2 crowns . Unfortunately they were placed incorrectly and within 9 months the first one fell out. I called to schedule an immediate repair and was told they could not get me in for awhile? What?! The crown fell out...why? I went to another dentist in the area in order to have the crown reinstalled. While in this dentists chair I found that the excessive cement from the temporary crown was never cleaned out and the permanent crown was applied over this excessive residue. This resulted in the crown never adhering properly as there was a gap caused by the residue! Had the crown not fallen out, I would have built up decay underneath this crown...root canal? tooth extraction? Wow! The second dentist cleaned out the cement and wrote Dr Dobee a letter regarding the necessity of a New Crown. I went to get the placement of the new crown, from the new dentist, who took an xray after the first crowns placement...to Insure that it was placed correctly and covered the entire tooth post. The second crown which Dr Dobee had placed was right next to this first crown. In the xray , the new dentist was surprised to find that the 2nd crown was ALSO placed incorrectly! He showed me the areas of the tooth that were left exposed which would again incur bacterial decay in the gaps! These two crowns at Dr Dobees office cost 25% more than the new dentist! And they were placed incorrectly. The second crown had to be ground off and then reprepared with more grinding! Needless to say I was shocked at this poor work ! I called and asked for a refund to which I was told they would get back to me. This is now 7 months later...I just filed a complaint with the Better Business Bureau and will be taking this to court for the $ 5500.00 of actual costs that I have paid along with the other dentists repair costs. I am surprised at the lack of expertise and the lack of integrity at this dental office. I am frankly shocked that she is actually still in business?! Are all of these positive reviews truthful? Be sure to get Post Xrays of the work done to assure you are getting the correct procedure. Check other dentists for honest costs as Dr. Dobee seems to overcharge. Be aware of what they are actually doing so you know if indeed your needs are being met. Not only is going to the dentist a distasteful experience but having dental work done incorrectly and being overcharged as well and then having to go to court to get your refund!? Dr Dobee and team is good at marketing themselves. And.... that's it. Beware of extravagant money extracted out of your pocket. Very short appointment. (Dr??) Dobee kept talking to her colleagues while examining and cleaning my teeth. Very Unprofessional. I was very nervous and couldn't take the nonsense going around me. Felt like I was lying in a market chair Trust me I was glad they finished in just 20min. I left their office, hopped into my car, and drove away... did not wait for a second. Dr. Dobee and her staff is an amazing place to go if you are in need of any dental services. I have been with them for a year now and they knock it out of the ball park. They make you feel at home and provide top tier professional service. My cleaning appointment was performed by Jenni and she did a wonderful job! I came here today for the first time for urgent dental work for an old filling that broke. I heard great things about Dr. Hawari so I decided to drive on over. Such an amazing experience. I typically have issues with dentists because I feel that they are never always honest. Dr. Hawari was so honest and genuinely wanted to help. He helped me build a fantastic dental plan and gave me a filling. I am sooo sensitive but didn't feel a thing. Very professional, gentle and painless experience. I've been going to Dr Dobee's office for years - have always been impressed with the friendly staff and quality of care. For the past few years I've seen Dr Hawari at the Mission Blvd location, and can't say enough about how great he is. Explains what's happening, really cares about patient comfort, and checks in frequently to make sure I'm all good. Also has a great sense of humor which really helps when you're getting crowns replaced. My most recent visit was 4/28/23 when I saw Jeni for a cleaning. I really dislike cleanings (no novacaine) and she was so great about working with my sensitivity. Even checked with my the next day to see how I was doing. I would not consider going anywhere else for dental care! read more
