I wish there was a self service carwash somewhere else that I can depend on. This one is hit and miss. Most days they're open most of the time but then something must go wrong with the equipment and they close it without notice. The dryers don't dry the car and, at most, it's a very mediocre business. The management and staff does not live up to the standards of quality the SHELL brand and franchise carries and represents in every other station I've been to across the United States. The staff is racist and refused to give me quarters for their vacuum. The cashier, a middle aged Latin man pretending to not know English very well claims he did have enough for his white customers - yet gave the Latin person behind me quarters for the vacuum and air service outside the station. Ridiculous! I frequented this station 2-3 times per week but am growing tired of the racist attitudes and unfriendliness of the staff. I mean, it's a gas station. Pretty standard. Not the cleanest but the area it's located in isn't either. I like it because they have a drive thru car wash. Sometimes I just need that sort of thing rather than a serious car wash, since my car isn't parked on the street. Anyway, the car wash itself is pretty cool, my kids were with me and it was colourful flashing lights and the typical multi-colour soap. They thoroughly enjoyed it. The one extra weird thing was, because there is a homeless sitch there, was at the drying part sucked. I was driving through the air drier slowly. Then all of a sudden this homeless chick stood right near the front of my car and I was nervous to drive forward because I would have totally hit her. She looked more than ready for it too. so I stayed where I was and half of my car didn't get dry, but she did friggin walk right through the car wash. I was like what the hell?!?! I walked in to get change for a quick vacuum and told the gal at the window that that had happened and she didn't look surprised and said, "oh yeah that happens all the time...". The worst experience of my life. First all of my cards were declined because of the fraud alert. When I finally managed to pay inside, there was no water, the system kept glitching, asking me to back up or move forward and nothing happened. When I asked to give me the code again, since I paid and did not get a service, the person working there was super rude saying he can only give me a refund and I can't pay again to receive a new code. I used to come here to get my car washed but never again. The car wash did not dry my car. The dryers never came on and I never got a timer for dry. I know exactly how the sensors work and I did everything properly. My car got washed but when it said to pull forward after wash the blow dryers never came on. I even paid for the highest $12 wash. The worker Luis said he could not give me a refund or another cheap wash. He basically told me I'm screwed and told me to just dry my car myself with a towel or I have to pay to go through it again. I will never come back. I go to another Shell gas station on Sunset Blvd that has a better car wash and if something goes wrong there then they will give you an extra basic wash for free. Racist are awful - obviously. But, when people of color are racist, it's just mind blowing. I am an African American woman. I walked into this station and kindly asked to use the restroom and the Hispanic attendant told me "it's not working." So, I left. About 5 minutes later, my husband (who is Hispanic and white) walked in to use the restroom and they told him to just wait a minute and he could use it. So, he did! Im disgusted! A few months ago, my mom asked to use the restroom at this station and they also told her "no." But AGAIN, my husband walked in and was allowed to use it. Convenient location right near the 10 freeway entrance ramp. The price is very reasonable. If you drive just a mile north of here, there will be stations charging you up to 50 cents more for a gallon of gas. They have plenty of stations, I believe at least 12 pumps. read more

I tend to go to this particular Shell for a variety of reasons: 1) my boyfriend has a Shell card lol 2) with said Shell card, we end up stopping frequently to pick up cigarettes for him (yes, i'm working on getting him to quit!!) 3) it's RIGHT around the corner from me and convenience is KEY! 4) they have a carwash!! AND...it's pretty darn brand new on account that just replaced it. Touch-free so no scratches will get to your auto... 5) the convenient store...which leads me back to #2...the cigarettes. lol He goes for the cancer sticks, I go for the coffee, gum, and whatnot's. 6) there's an ATM inside...just in case you're too lazy to walk your ass across the street to the B of A...ahem, not that that would be ME. lol So if yer in need of gas that won't break your bank...check out this branch...great amenities! read more

Today was a very bad experience. Pulled up to a gas pump, turned off car, found sign that covered up the credit card slot - cash only. Ok, I'll go to another. Drove to another (mostly in reverse since the station was suprisingly packed) - fueled up and added on the $8 basic car wash. Drove to the car wash, waited in line, only to find another sign: "Dryer will not lower, sorry!" Yeah, I'm sure you're sorry. Two signs = two reasons not to go. My one star is not due to the car wash/gas prices, but rather due to the clientele and staff at this location. As far as the gasoline and car wash goes, both are mediocre. The gasoline is priced a little above average and burns quickly, but it is good quality gas. However, the pumps' credit card readers are often faulty/won't read your card. In regards to the car wash, it is not bad, but it's not great either. It does a quasi-decent job of cleaning the car, but not drying it. Also, there is usually a long wait (assume 2-3 minutes per car), and the signage is often indicating you to do the wrong thing. Now, if that was all I had to say, I would give this station 4 stars. However, after what has happened in the past, I refuse to return to this station. Primarily, the staff is incredibly derogatory/vindictive and speaks to you in a condescending matter, even when it comes to trivial concerns such as "How do I get my car wash code?" Almost every response comes with a glower/eye-roll. However, this is, unfortunately, not the end of my wonderful Shell adventures. After what happened today, I refuse to go anywhere near this gas station. The station is not in the most grandiose of neighborhoods, but that doesn't excuse the lack of security there is. For instance, one day, I was pumping gas when a drug addict approached me and asked if I had 50 cents on me, to which I said that I did not. She said okay, and then proceeded to light a joint next to active gasoline pumps, and nobody from inside said anything. There are also frequent dumpster-divers and homeless people nagging at you for spare change. And I understand that this is a possibility at any gas station, but management seems to let everything slide here. As for what happened today, I drove here after school to fill up and get a car wash, which I do every 2-4 weeks. However, upon pulling into the gas station, I noticed that there was a man assaulting a woman physically and verbally. Both the man and the woman were shouting pejorative remarks at one another in addition to tackling each other and making obscene gestures. This all occurred outside of the car wash exit, and from the looks of things, it seemed as if the man was driving out of the car wash and ran into the woman who was, presumably, riding the bicycle. Then again, this is just an assumption and I cannot attest to that. Anyway, while all of this was going down with a crowd gathering around them - what did the management do? Nothing. They did not try to intervene, nor did they even take the simple measures of calling the police. Upon noticing the nasty brawl, I vacated the premises instantaneously and called 911. Now, I am a new driver, and thus, not allowed to use my car's "hands-free" system while driving, unless it is to emergency services. So there I was - a new driver, fleeing the scene with a trembling body on the phone with emergency services. Moral of the story: There are other gas stations nearby with far better rates, which I plan to go to from now on. Now it is just a matter of finding another car was that I can drive-through myself, as I have a tendency to not trust people, especially after today's incident. read more

I come here when I need a quick car wash. It's located at the corner of Pico and La Cienega. CAUTION: At the end of the wash cycle watch out for the blower as it descends from the top toward your windshield to dry your car which takes about a minute. Car wash doesn't always work as well as it should but then it's the perfectly cheap and lazy way to clean your car.

I used to use this location for gas frequently, as it's convenient to my office. I'm only giving 2 Stars, as 98% of the time the car wash is broken or only working half way (you don't get all the perks you paid for...wheel scrub, triple wax, etc.). When I've approached the staff and asked for a refund, due to it not working, they look at you like a deer in the headlights. Not once have I been given a refund or even offered another car wash at no cost! Due to this, I think Shell needs to reevaluate having their brand here. These people are thieves!!!!! Their sign said 4.17 a gallon, but in small letters it says "with a car wash"; There is a tiny sign on the ground that lists the cash price of 4.47. Without seeing this I put 25.00 on a card and they charged me .40 to do that. And I used my Ralphs Rewards. So I thought I was getting the gas at 3.97 with my club card. When I got to the pump it said 4.27. WTF? So I go back in and tell him to cancel it, I'm not paying 4.27. He does refund me but refuses to refund me the .40. I know it's only .40 but it's the principle. And I don't get the 25.00 I put on my card refunded for couple days. Like I said, these people are thieves and they get away with it. read more
