In fact, after his latest visit we all agreed we needed to start bringing him in quarterly. Chef's cooking style is best described as transformative. He takes ingredients you'd never dream of being the star of the dish and makes it the most delicious thing you've ever tasted. Our last dinner we reqested to be completely vegetarian and he did not disappoint. Even the non-vegetarian at the dinner was blown away and left being the perfect amount of full. My husband avoids certain veggies in our day to day (texture) and the way Chef Josh cooks - well we've never left a plate bare, I can tell you that much. And when Chef Josh isn't looking.. we may have licked our plates clean. Pickling, crisping, pureeing, caramelizing - everything he puts in front of you "WOWs". Besides the food he serves, which is well worth the money, Josh's service is unparalleled. He is prompt, friendly and wonderful to chat with. He brings everything in and does all clean up as if he was never even there. Whether it's a date night, an intimate gathering or a group to impress - I would recommend hiring Chef Josh 110%. If you're even considering a private chef, look no further because there truly is no better!

He doesn't have a set menu, but sources the ingredients the morning of depending on what looks good and what's in season. We had three or four passed appetizers, a salad course, a grouper / risotto course, and a caramel bar for dessert. Everything was so delicious and all of the guests raved. I have no idea how he was able to cook all of that food for that many people in our home kitchen and make it so flavorful. To keep all of the food at a perfect temperature must have been extremely challenging. Chef Josh was such a cool person also, entertaining, always happy, and so respectful of our home. Thanks so much, Josh. We hope to have you help us out again at our next event.

I had talked…read morewith him a bit while he prepared a 36" Paella from scratch in the back yard of a dear friend's promotion ceremony. Although I have heard of Paellas being made by personal chefs or other 'specialty' catering companies, I thought it extremely challenging for Daniel to make it for a client, especially since there was going to be a Chef (me) attending the celebration. He even questioned me as to my credentials . . . I did the same with him. I think it's slightly a Chef thing. I figured Daniel caught on to me at that point when I was very curious as to his final product since Paella is one of the most technically difficult dishes to pull off. Since I had participated in a similar Paella party at one of my camping adventures in our RV, I knew the sequence that Daniel was following. He executed perfectly. I think Daniel also provided a bit of charcuterie as an appetizer, but it was the Paella that stole the show. Daniel even brought me a plastic fork (culinary school all over again) to test the creation as the rice was cooking to sample the flavor, consistency and doneness. BTW, Daniel even had a nice crusty bottom on that paella. Super nice guy. My five stars represents my hope for this company, although this was certainly not a five-star meal; it was however, a skillfully executed dinner party with Chef Daniel at the helm. He sent me the teppanyaki menu and pricing. Reserving our date and time was easy, I just paid 50% upfront, and he was extremely flexible with the food options. On the day of the event, Italo and his helper arrived right on time and handled everything. They even offer three different color set-ups to choose from, which made the presentation feel really special. All I had to provide were the drinks and cups. The food itself was fantastic, and the teppanyaki show was so much fun! To top it all off, they finished with a crêpe station for dessert, which was the perfect final touch. I also learned that they do brunch, Italian dinners, and even pasta-making lessons... so many great options for future parties. I will definitely be booking them again. If you're looking for something unique, delicious, and stress-free for your next event, I highly recommend Take Chef Home!

I was attempting to book a chef for a micro wedding and received a proposal from Chef Percia Sanchez through Take a Chef. At first, I was genuinely excited--she appeared flexible and open to menu adjustments, which felt promising. However, that was the only positive part of this experience. I followed up with questions just one day after her last message. At that point, pricing had not been updated, so I wasn't able to move forward with booking. Then... nothing. No response. I waited several days and still didn't hear back. After reaching out to customer support (who had to contact her directly), I was told two days later that she had already booked another client for my date. Not once did she communicate this to me. Even more frustrating--our message thread was deleted, so I couldn't even reference our previous conversation. No update, no courtesy message, no apology. Just silence and a disappearing act. Customer support suggested I look at other proposals, but after this experience, it's hard to trust the reliability or professionalism of this platform. Communication is the bare minimum, and unfortunately, that standard was not met here.

Decor was chill and noise volume was low-medium. Overall 10/10. Food favs of today: brisket(one of the best I have had from a restaurant) it was tender, packed full of flavor and had the perfect balance of meat, fat, and rub. Cole slaw was great and I'm not a fan of Cole slaw usually! Rack of Ribs were good! Macaroni salad, potato salad were flavored well! Caesar salad was fresh and dressing tasty. My friend liked the jalapeño cornbread but it was too spicy for me. It had great flavor it's just personally my stomach would reject that spice. Next time I'll try the wedding beans and other food items. Bartender was friendly so I might come back just to hit up the bar area as well! It's a far drive of 20 mins for each of us but it's well worth it.

Recently, I brought my father and my boyfriend for his first visit, expecting the same quality experience I had enjoyed for years. Unfortunately, this visit was extremely disappointing. The menu has been significantly reduced, offering only a limited selection of options, while prices have increased substantially. I ordered the half chicken with brisket as my additional side for $38. When my meal arrived, I received only two pieces of chicken and a single piece of brisket. Upon cutting into the chicken, I noticed blood on the plate and the meat appeared pink. As I am currently pregnant, I did not feel comfortable eating it and asked our server if the chicken could be cooked longer. Instead, the manager came to the table holding my plate and explained that the chicken had been checked with a thermometer and was safe to eat. When I expressed my concerns regarding my pregnancy, he rolled his eyes and told me to choose something else rather than offering to cook the chicken further. I then asked if I could receive additional brisket since I was no longer comfortable eating the chicken. The manager responded, "That will cost more," and walked away. When my replacement arrived, I was served only two very small pieces of brisket and was charged extra for them. I am genuinely shocked by the lack of professionalism and customer service from the management team. Combined with the increased prices and noticeably smaller portions, the overall value simply is not there anymore. For longtime loyal customers, this experience was especially disappointing. After sharing my experience with family and friends, several decided not to visit, and unfortunately, I will not be returning either. The quality, portion sizes, and customer service no longer justify the cost. If you are looking for both quality and value, I would recommend considering other options.
