This past week, I had a burger craving so opted for the Bacon and Cheddar burger. They were able to sub with Swiss Cheese, but I wish they offered a classic Swiss cheese and mushroom burger, or elevated it with aioli. These options were only available with the Bison burger. The regular burger was tasty and moist as usual, but I probably had 2 days' worth of calories in the one meal - my own fault. I was hungry. There was an abundance of fried onion straws - too much actually, so I removed quite a lot to my plate. Next time, I will stick with the classic burger. Service was fair - our server seemed to have the majority of tables in another section and out of view. We were her only table on the one side, so it was a bit difficult to get her attention. Atmosphere and decor was good. Over the years, I've been disappointed that Turtle Jack's in general has changed and reduced their classic menu choices. I used to love their Apple Brie Burger with special sauces, bruschetta with reduced balsamic vinaigrette, and brunch menu. I'm sure it was more labour-intensive so I get it, but it was the reason that this restaurant stood out from the rest in its early years. I will try their dusted chicken wings again in the future. I have seen other reviews where they changed their recipe, so I hope that they didn't alter a good product.

We started with the Broccoli Cheese Poppers, which we've ordered at other spots before since they're usually vegetarian-friendly (my wife is pescatarian). I thought they were really tasty, but unfortunately my wife had almost finished one before realizing there was bacon inside...and it wasn't listed on the menu. When we asked to confirm, it was pretty disappointing. She was understandably upset, especially since she's been pescatarian for over 10 years. It would've gone a long way if they at least took it off the bill, but they didn't, and that definitely hurt the overall experience. For mains, I ordered JJ's Meatloaf; really solid dish. The mashed potatoes were a highlight, veggies were cooked nicely, and everything had great flavour. Only downside was the bun that came with it got pretty soggy. My wife ordered the Grilled Fish Panini; she liked it, not amazing, but good. The fish was fresh and flaky, and the bread had a nice garlic bread vibe. Overall, it's a decent spot with good food and a nice setting, but the beer prices and the issue with the unlisted bacon definitely took away from the experience. It was great! I had not had saganaki in a long time, and that was delicious. Instead of a salad, I tried their soup of the day, which was a Greek soup. Very tasty also. For my entree, I tried their New York Striploin Steak Neptune (that's a mouthful!). 10 oz steak covered with shrimp, scallops, and hollandaise sauce. Sides were green beans and cooked potatoes and carrots. My steak was cooked perfectly, and it was quite good. The carrots and potatoes were also good. For dessert, I tried their cake of the day, which was a vanilla layer cake with a raspberry compote. The compote was delicious, but the cake itself was just a little dry. This place is a hidden gem! Our server was wonderful, and very patient with questions about the menu. The timing on food coming out was also spot on, even though they were very busy with several larger parties. Would absolutely go there again.

Our food was served efficiently and it was delicious! The ham & scone was yummy as was the corn soup! We dine at this restaurant whenever we visit and the service is always great!
