    All the LOVES!

We adopted a dog from this foundation in Chula Vista, CA and had the best experience with them! They are very friendly, communicative, informative, and thoughtful when matching their rescued "furriends" with a furever family. The process is very thorough. The foster parent of the dog we adopted was also very helpful and flexible with scheduling of meetups. Fun Fact: The Cantu Foundation had given the name "Falkor" to the dog we ended up adopting before we even knew he was the one for us. I believe it was totally meant to be because Falkor is one of my favorite characters from my favorite childhood book and movie!

Could not have been a smoother adoption. Everyone at TCF were friendly, helpful and responded quickly. When we decided we wanted our new family member we of course wanted her now. Their adoption process is very thorough but shows they care about their doggies and want to make sure they are going to a good home. And the whole process took less thena week. The foster mom Montse was so nice . I would adopt from them again and we watch their website looking for a brother or sister for our new little girl. Thank you so much.

The best to find your furever family pup!! I adopted Valentino in 2022, and it was the best choice. They will try to pair you with the best match pup you are looking for. Thank you !!

I adopted my perfect puppy through TCF. Their staff and volunteers are so helpful, respectful, and kind which made the process very easy and efficient. I was so impressed with their love and care for rescuing animals that I decided to volunteer and become a foster parent. TCF always put the animals needs first, and their policies reflect their seriousness about providing what's best for the dogs. The founder, Fatima has always been easy to reach and more than willing to provide assistance or clarify any confusion. I have fostered dogs that were already adopted and returned for various reasons and Fatima never hesitated to accept them back because her top priority is ensuring the dogs are placed in perfect homes. All dogs rescued by TCF are extremely lucky and it's amazing how much love & appreciation they display :)

I have always wanted to volunteer at a dog rescue. I went to one volunteer event and fell in love with the organization. I told myself I would not adopt a dog until May. I met Lyla and everything changed. It was love at first sight. Thank you to the Cantu Foundation for rescuing her and so many other amazing dogs. Thank you for making the adoption process smooth.

    Our new family member

We just adopted our new family pup from Cantu and it was a great experience! They really go through an extensive process to make sure all animals go to a good home, and we really appreciated that. Thank you Cantu for giving us our forever pup!

We contacted a few different rescues in the area and they were by FAR the most responsive, kind, and helpful. They really do care about these animals! I highly recommend them. Some of my friends have also worked with them and had positive experiences!

I interacted with a handful of people at The Cantu Foundation, and every one of them was extremely helpful, responsive, and kind. It's clear they care about what they do and do it very well. I can't recommend this organization enough!

I was a foster fail! Which is the best kind of fail. I adopted! This was my first time fostering a dog and the Cantu foundation was so helpful and thorough throughout the process. They are extremely passionate about what they do and want all their dogs to go to a loving home. Fátima and Jenna were great and always available anytime I needed something. They have pups from Mexico, some puppies and some older. Rescue or foster today!

I can't say enough good things about Cantu! I just finished up the adoption process with our sweet Rosie! From my first contact with Cantu everyone I interacted with was so responsive, flexible, and professional. They are truly dedicated to finding good homes and good matches for their pups. Once I was matched with my pup they went out of their way to make the adoption process smooth and flexible. As an out of town adopter, they helped me through a more complicated than usual adoption process. When I realized at the last minute that I made the wrong flight date, the immediately moved things around so I could get my pup. My pup's wonderful foster, Natalie, even kept me company while I waited to back to the airport with my new pup. Even if you don't see a dog you want on their website, I highly recommend applying with them and waiting until the right dog comes along for you. They are an incredible organization! Thank you again Cantu!

My pup (Romeo) was so lucky to have been with her. She def helped him break out of his shell. He was so scared of humans at first and Carol was the first to show him love. My sweet Romeo is a flight risk and managed to slip out of his collar on his first night when out for a walk. This rescue came together within 30 minutes of me reporting him missing and helped me search for him! It was a tremendous amount of support and I couldn't believe it. I felt horrible for loosing him especially on the first day but they did not show any hostility towards me. Instead they showed up and genuinely cared for Romeo's safe return helping with the search and posting flyers on social media and notifying OC animal care right away. They provided me and foster mom specific instructions so that hopefully Romeo found his way back and he did!!! Now looking back at the application process...it was a fairly smooth experience and Ruth was assigned to us. Ruth is truly amazing!!! And she makes sure that the dog you're wanting to adopt is the best fit for your family. Her wisdom and expertise helped guide us through this adoption process. She was very patient with us and listened to our concerns and responded promptly to our questions. I can truly see how much she cares for these dogs to have a loving home and that they get all their basic needs met. She loved all my updates and pics and is very quick to respond too! Once we made the decision to close the adoption, Ruth finalized the paperwork right away. A true professional!! I very much appreciated the trial in the beginning and with Romeo running away the first day, Carol and Ruth graciously offered a smooth transition to our home. I wasn't about to give up on this pup! And with him getting to know us better, we quickly became his chosen family. He's been getting the VIP treatment that he's always deserved. Thank you Labradors and Friends Dog Rescue for the wonderful work that you do!!! I will be submitting a volunteer application soon :)

Fanila (I hope I'm spelling that correctly!), Elizabeth and the entire team were incredibly kind, patient, and welcoming. They went above and beyond to make my kids feel comfortable and special, taking the time to let them safely see and interact with the guinea pig, hamster, chinchilla, bunny, and even a chicken. Thank you Magnifico, Daddy Hamster, Chichi, Chili, Dave and Grace Omali In a time where we really needed a little lightness, this meant more than I can fully express. My experience with San Diego Pug Rescue raises serious concerns regarding misrepresentation, lack…read moreof transparency, and failure to follow through on a confirmed adoption agreement. I was explicitly informed that our family was approved to adopt a pug named Sanson. In reliance on that representation, I promptly completed and submitted all required paperwork and confirmed completion via text. I was then provided a direct phone number to coordinate pickup, and a specific pickup time was mutually agreed upon for Monday morning. In addition, the foster-to-adopt arrangement was discussed at length, and payment details were reviewed as part of finalizing the transaction. At no point was I advised that the adoption was tentative, conditional, or subject to reassignment. Based on these clear representations and discussions, my family reasonably relied on the understanding that the adoption was finalized. However, on Sunday at approximately 4:30 PM--less than 24 hours before the scheduled pickup--I was notified that the dog had been placed with another party. There was no prior notice, no explanation, and no opportunity to address or resolve any issue. This sequence of events reflects a lack of procedural fairness, failure of good faith communication, and disregard for the reasonable reliance created by the organization's own representations. The emotional distress caused to my family, particularly my child, was significant and entirely avoidable. Prospective adopters should exercise caution and seek clear, written confirmation of any adoption status--including foster-to-adopt terms and payment agreements--before making emotional or logistical commitments.
