I missed the first 20mins of the movie working patiently with them and the kids to figure it out. We actually were just missing only 1 order, but the cook refused to make it because they "were sure they made it and sent it out to us." So, I gave up and being a mom I just re-ordered and paid for the $10 item again. It's not fun being treated like a liar. It's not fun missing out on the fun with your group. We didn't sneak food/drinks in. We didn't complain or argue. I just wanted my husband, kids, and their friends to have fun and enjoy this local small business drive in movie experience. Pro tip: Make the drive up to Blue Fox Drive in. Much better venue and more professional staff.

We're in the premium movie club, so we pay for a subscription, but as much as we go to movies, it pays for itself. If you go quite a bit, I recommend it. I just wish it worked for Fathom and other events. My only complaints are that the floor in the snack area is often very sticky, but that is 100% the fault of customers slopping their sodas and Icees around, and the fact that in the men's room doesn't have privacy dividers between urinals.

Toy Story 5 is out and the kid in me LOVES Toy Story.. they are my favorite Disney movies that are animated and aren't Princess-related so I had to see Toy Story 5 and I decided to see it in a format I haven't watched a movie in before (Screen X). I was excited that they have Screen X as I've come close to seeing a movie in Screen X before but ended up not getting around to it. I lived in Idaho for a couple years and the Regal in Boise has different formats for movies like IMAX, Screen X and 4DX. I absolutely LOVE 4DX movies so that was my go to theater for that but I had it in the back of my mind to do Screen X sometime and recently found out that was something offered at this theater. It was nice to see what it was all about but honestly didn't feel it was anything that special. The Screen is basically extended with projections on the sides of the auditorium during key parts of the movie but the images on the sides are darker, not nearly as bright as the screen in front of you and they are blurry looking. It was honestly kind of distracting. I originally wanted to do 3D with Screen X but then decided because I've never seen a movie in Screen X to just do regular Screen X to see if I actually like the format first and I'm glad I went that route because maybe the 3D would have enhanced the side screens a bit more but I could see it also possibly being overwhelming and disorienting if I did it with the 3D. I know alot of people say they think that 4DX is distracting and overwhelming to the senses with the moving seats but honestly I would much rather have watched this in 4DX.. Sadly they don't have 4DX at this theater though and the only theater in Washington that does is the Regal in downtown Seattle. It would be nice if they added 4DX as an option here as I'd rather make the long drive here than fight all the traffic in Seattle to get there but I know it's extremely expensive for them to convert even one auditorium to the 4DX seats so that likely won't be happening any time soon if ever. Overall though, I LOVED the movie and the theater was very nice! I didn't get any concessions today as I felt it would be more worth it to hit up the Wendy's drive thru after for the minion meal, but I do enjoy Regal's Sips by Pepsi- give them a try if you haven't! They cost a bit less than a regular soda or even the small icee and they have unique flavors like a Cotton Candy lemonade topped with real cotton candy and cotton candy boba!! Enjoy ;)

The theater sells limited snacks and because it's so small, it's a very intimate setting. Before the show started, they mentioned that the venue is available for anyone who wants to do a small show, play, concert, or stand up so this place seems like a valuable asset for the arts community of Olympia.

Almost left a great movie due to the pain of these awful seats. I hate to rag on an local establishment run by volunteers and a fil society. But I feel the need to warn people for the sake of their butts and backs. Someone seriously need to get a fund raiser going to fix the awful seating. At the very least, bring your own pillows.

For example we watched a movie called Dead Lover quite recently and apparently a few people came from Seattle to see it as it was not playing at any of the movie theaters up there. They also had a movie called Frybread Face and Me which was a great Native American film and one I immensely enjoyed. Afterwards they had snacks and tea in the lounge which consisted of frybread. It was quite good! These event and film combinations are a lot of fun here and the more I come to The Grand the more my favorability grows with it. Definitely keep a close eye on the film schedule because some films are only screened one night and that's it.

I couldn't figure out why my friend was raving about it so hard but after we went I totally get it! The pricing on everything is insanely cheap in comparison to any other theater I've been to. I think the biggest wow to me is ALL popcorn and fountain drinks are BOTTOMLESSS! What?! You get to serve yourself and there is butter machines too (idc how unhealthy it is, let me drown in it). Even the kids packs are bottomless for soda and popcorn and they have several cool drink machines. The kids packs are like $11 and come with bottomless popcorn, fountain drinks, and a choice of a candy. Such a steal. Moving into the theater was also such a welcome surprise. The theaters aren't overly huge, and they have the spacious, reclining seats. Me and my daughter were ecstatic about this so we could get cozy. The experience here was top tier and my only gripe is that it isn't closer. We'd be here for date night all the time if it was - they even have a bar/lounge in the lobby for adults only. So cool!

Are there event t-shirts for sale? Triple check! Sausage Fest is a fun all-ages event that has been around for 30 years. It is held at Gull Harbor Lutheran Church. There are two ticket 'donation' prices: One for children and one for adults. The child meal is smaller. It includes one sausage, a roll, warm potato salad, red cabbage, and a dessert. The adult meal includes knockwurst, bockwurst, and kielbasa. Tickets are available at the door or at other community vendors such as Wagner's Bakery. Parking includes the parking lot and the property behind the church. Attendants will show you where to park. When you attend Sausage Fest you should have your ticket in hand when you are ready to be seated. An attendant will take your tickets and place the order for you. You will be seated at a long 'community style' table. There is non-stop accordion and singing. Songs include The Chicken Dance, Roll Out The Barrel, Edelweiss, with some Beatles mixed in. There is a pitcher of water on the table but there is also coffee, tea, and soda available. If you don't mind paying extra you can order the specialty Sausage Fest Root Beer bottled by the Gull Harbor congregation. Honestly, the root beer is one of the reasons I attend! It's delicious and sells out quickly! Assistants are easy to spot because all of the volunteers at the event wear Sausage Fest T-shirts that have an illustration of Martin Luther on the back. If you are unable or uninterested in staying for the event, you can order your meal(s) to go. I was sick one year and had a relative pick up my order. It's a good way to go if you just want a meal without all the hubbub. I for one would rather attend if able. Nothing is better than watching the whole community get down with the Chicken Dance. This event is truly fun for all ages! Other stuff to do at Sausage Fest include buying a t-shirt containing the catchphrase "The Best of the WURST", entering in the raffles for various prizes, and of course, buying Sausage Fest Specialty Root Beer. This event is on the second Friday and Saturday of October. It's a blast and all of the proceeds go to charity. Do you think the sausage-y goodness ends on Saturday? Think again! Any unused food is for sale in bulk the following Sunday after the church service.

Children's Day

Lacey's Children's Day takes place in October at Huntamer Park. It is a FREE all day festival…read morecelebrating children with activity booths and entertainment. Last year's Children's Day was Pirate and Princess themed. It was around Halloween, so there was also a costume contest. The live entertainment was a humorous pirate performance. There was a princess booth were the young ladies smiled for pictures with children. My kid was, of course, first in line for this. The line became quite long and the princesses never for a moment slipped out of their happy voices and sparkly smiles. Timerland Regional Library had a booth providing handmade blank books kids could illustrate. It was definitely a fun booth. They were kind enough to remind me when the Library book sale was. There were SO many craft booths, I can't remember them all. All were great. The main things I remember were the two bouncy houses and the gymnastics bus. My daughter played in them at least 5 times each! If you have a kid this is a great place to take them. It's fun. It's free. It will keep kids occupied for hours.
