I think the first step of hiring anyone is making sure they can interact with others different than themselves, and with decency. The staff at Shenanigans are some of the worst I've encountered. This place has a ton of other things I could knock them for but luckily a lot of other reviews have those covered. My advice is that if you are queer or a person of color, don't come here - they'd probably love to keep it that way. Not only did we see an employee record a gay couple at the bar with his phone and proceed to show it to his snickering coworkers, but we also watched another employee turn away and step outside because he was so uncomfortable with them being there. Not that it matters at all, but all the couple was doing was sitting there. Additionally, a member of our party who has a very dark complexion was being stared at, pointed at, and spoken to in an uncomfortable fashion by patrons sitting at the bar but that speaks more to the crowd that frequents it. Judging by the way the employees acted in the above example, I wouldn't be surprised if they did the same. If you're looking to get disrespected, look no further. read more

Hearing the music from the outside, I thought it was my kind of place. However, once I got inside, I realized the hot mess I'd walked into. The bartender at the one bar completely ignored me although I sat there with my wallet in my hand waiting to order a drink. After about 10 mins, I gave up. They were busy of course, but you should be able to handle the crowds with 3 bars. The music was Top 40 all the way. Never thought a place would go so low as to steal money from its customers. We had a group of 7 waiting to get in and the first person paid the cover for our group. My friend, who is 22 and showed 3 forms of ID, was denied because the bouncer "didn't believe" it was her. Went here on Labor Day weekend with some buddies. Needless to say, this place lives up to its name. Imagine the trashiest college bar you've ever been to, multiply it by 5, and you get this place. Dudes literally passed out at the bar, bouncers throwing guys full force through the door, all while "let it go" and "under the sea" play in the background. They must have thrown out at least 5 guys within an hour of us getting there. All that being said, we had a great time! Being in this place and watching all the madness unfold right in front of you is basically like getting free entertainment you never asked for, but enjoyed immensely. If you're planning on getting wasted and want a good laugh, you'll love it here. Can the town just condemn this place already? Sunday of Memorial Day Weekend...not crowded. Douchey bartender is only waiting on one group of people and not paying attention to anyone else. When we FINALLY got him to come over, he said "yeah, well they gave me a $100 tip, so that's who I'm paying attention to." I explained that there are other people here with money, but he was tending to them for multiple rounds before even looking at anyone else. And then he would just stay there and chat. He told my wife and I that with our attitudes, we were lucky he was letting us sit there. Then he proceeded to talk shit about anyone that complained to his customers that gave him the big tip. Then, of course, no one who worked there knew his name, there was no manager. THERE IS A REASON THAT EVERY OTHER BAR IN TOWN HAD A LINE AT THE DOOR. The place is a dump, that particular bartender is a raging douche, and it doesn't look like he's the only one based on the reviews. Every other bar in town made huge improvements and renovations in the off season...this place actually looks worse than it did before. LOVE LOVE LOVE 302s. I can only have like 1.5 of them or else my college self reemerges. Some great bartenders, a lot of them also seem to work next door at The Dead Dog and also very good music. Loud, but it's Sea Isle, not Book Club Night - get over it people. Reggae Night on Tuesday is great as are the weekends there, usually a cover but it is worth it. Also people recently have been talking about Disney music there on Saturdays which I didn't believe BUT went in this past weekend and confirmed that this does exist. My boyfriend and I were here last night and he was thrown out very forcefully, pushed to the ground by a security guard, and three large bouncers choked him and threw him out. He was not being violent, belligerent, or rude whatsoever. He was thrown out because he asked to go on stage a few times and was told no. Then, a girl started to pull him up there anyway. After that, he was shoved forcefully to the filthy ground landing hard on his back and then choked and grabbed aggressively by three men and dragged out. Today, he can hardly move his neck. They really could have just asked us to leave and we would have. So wrong and uncalled for. I will NEVER go here. I lost my ID in the bar and had to go to shenanigans 4 times to try to talk to someone about getting it back. They told me they confiscated it and the owner locked it away in his closet. I went to the police station 3 times trying to get it back with no luck. The bouncers were jerks and so was the manager. My boyfriend and I went in expecting it to be loud, dirty, and over packed as we had been there before, but we did not expect the bartenders to be so rude to the customers. Bouncers are constantly looking for a fight. They're mostly a bunch of little "meatheads" looking for trouble to start. When they find it, they turn it into something way bigger than it actually is because the sorry crowd there isn't entertaining enough for them. This place is a frat house basement which would be cool if I was still 19. Most of the bouncers are constantly on a huge power trip which is so laughable because they think they're actually important. this bar is by far the best in sea isle. All of the bartenders are absolutely amazing and are attentive. I was there for polar bear plunge(as I have for the past 3 years) and for these guys who work from early in the morning until late night they still maintained themselves and took care of the customers. I have made some life long friends here. The security there makes me feel safe and removes problems before they become sincerely out of hand. I have met the owners of shenanigans and dead dawg and they both are absolutely fantastic people. Go here, bring cash, bring dancing shoes and have fun. read more
