Whenever we visit Montana, we always plan on visiting this place. The candies were deliciously made. The person who greeted us was very bubbly and friendly. She gave us different options to choose from. I bought 2 lbs of their most popular selection. She also offered a free sample. The store is quite small but clean and very nice. These candies are some of the best I've had. Conveniently located on "the main drag" it's worth the stop for both visitors and locals. Disappointed to see a one-star review here apparently based on the fact the reviewer doesn't like bounced check name-and-shame, but it's not that uncommon. Always go for the bigger box, and don't leave out the caramels. If they ever start selling online, that first box has gotta come to Oregon. read more

I received a two pound box of what I think were the carmels from a new friend who lives in Butte. My roommate has been looking for 20 years for the kinds of caramels that he remembers as a boy. We finally found them in Shepperd's caramels. Thank you Shepperd's and my friend for the niceest treat I've had in a long time. Mediocre candy and medieval business practice. I was shocked to see bounced checks displayed on the glass counter. I'm from Denver and had never seen this 'wall of shame' practice before. First of all, what bad energy to put out there right off the bat as far as the customer experience goes, and secondly, have you ever heard of identity theft? Two wrongs do not make a right. And, by the way, ...they don't take credit cards, so make sure you have your checkbook with you right along with your cart and buggy. read more

I was given a pound of Shepperd's candies as a gift, and it was so wonderful that I almost ate the entire box by myself. No I don't normally do that. Shepperd's candies are not like some where you like some of the candies and not others, I liked the entire box, their caramels are truly wonderful. I hope I get another box next year. read more

I am 3rd Generation eating Shepperds. It is a must stop every time I go through Butte. Love the carmels the most but will eat any of them.
