Adorable candy shop with tons of different candies sorted in barrel buckets. I didn't end up getting and candy but there's a HUGE variety of taffy, old school candies, licorice, and packaged modern candies. Love the way they're all assorted and displayed! I love looking at all the different kinds of candy from over the years but we ended up getting sucked in by the fudge sampling! Im a sucker for samples and they were so creamy and delicious! The staff was patient, very kind, and even helped with cutting the fudge into smaller bite size pieces so our group of 6 could easily grab a chunk to eat. read more

Such a great little candy store! The owner was so sweet and seemed very passionate about her shop. Her and her sister make most of the candy such as the fudge and assorted chocolates. The fudge is so creamy and soft with a wide variety of flavors. The price was really good at only $4.00 for each little block and buy 4 get one free. Trust me, you're going to want to get 5. Besides all the homemade candies there was a huge variety of old penny candies and huckleberry products. If you're in the area be sure to stop in here for some sweet treats! read more

This place should be a destination trip for anyone in the area and of course for Virginia City in general. This place is just like no other candy store I've been in. The owners are sisters and my goodness they are so lovely. Once sister makes all the chocolate and the other makes all the fudge. When speaking with one she told me how she never makes chocolate when it is below 50 degrees because of how the chocolate cooks. They super care about quality. The one sister (owner) that spoke with me was so lovely about explaining the difference between the deserts. She was also so cool about just telling me about that area. I'd say I was in there for like 15 minutes just looking all around and speaking with the lovely owner. The licorice I bought was beyond amazing and the chocolate was so good I debated driving back an hour to have more for gifts. If you're at all in the area or thinking about headed towards Virginia City then you MUST sample this place. read more

Homemade Taffy!!!! As soon as we walked in we were offered a sample of their homemade taffy, which was still sitting on the marble slab. It literally melted in my mouth and was soo fresh and the perfect chew consistency. So I grabbed a bag and we loaded up. What I loved about this taffy is that each piece is individually hand wrapped in a piece of wax paper and the pieces are very large. There is no consistency in size or shape, and it looks and tastes like it was made that morning. We tried about 10 different flavors. It is literally the BEST taffy I have ever had. In fact as we walked down the street we contemplated going back for more, I mean where can you find freshly made taffy? We also bought a few other pieces of candy that we had never seen before, just to try them out. They did not disappoint. This candy store has the best selection of candy that I have ever seen. It truly is an amazing little store, if you have a sweet tooth you will be delighted with the choices. Now that we are 50 miles down the road we are wishing we had bought a few more pieces of taffy. Next time we are in the area we will stop in for sure. read more

Cousins candy used to be the thing you look forward to on a trip to Virginia City. Nothing like walking around,learning the history of this amazing town, and enjoying home-made delicious saltwater taffy. Except, Cusins candy DOES NOT make that wonderful taffy anymore. Now they just sell the same junky manufactured taffy you can get from any place and try to pass it off as better. The gal working in there became really passive aggressive and argumentative when asked about the taffy, telling me it was better and "the jelly belly of taffy"...nope flavorless wads of goop from a factory are not better that hand crafted taffy from scratch. What a shame. So, if you're looking for home-made salt water taffy, you won't find it at Cousins. read more

Cute little candy store in Virginia city, MT. We've been here before and it's a nice little shop to visit. We came here with my two year old for the first time though, and he was quite a handful. A lot of the candy is in baskets and wheel barrels within reach of little kids. I had quite a hard time trying to keep him from grabbing everything. The real shock though was when a small amount of factory made candy came out to over $13. Then, my daughter informed though that one of the employees was giving me a dirty look the whole time because my son was going crazy for the candy. Well, it's a candy store and he's two years old, so what do you expect. When you charge $13 for $3 worth of candy I think you can be a little more tolerant of little kids. read more

This is a summer vacation favorite for our family. With four kiddos who don't eat a ton of sweets during the year this is a wonderland of sugary goodness. They do carry typical manufactured candies however they have a large selection of items that are not typical or sold in grocery stores or gas stations. A rule I have with my kiddos is to choose something that they have never tried before or is not available year round. Sure the prices are going to be a bit higher then a gas station, but come on, this is a small town seasonal business that profits off of tourism. A lot of the candy is sold in barrels and price is determined by weight. The quality of their homemade goods is wonderful and the atmosphere is so much fun! The prices are also very fair and nothing is outdated. The ladies pride themselves in their products and hospitality and it really shows. Even if candy is not your thing, take a stop in and just experience that 1800's candy shop feel. That alone is a treat! read more

We had a bad experience going into Cousins Candy Shop today .We were insulted by a rude frizzy haired girl behind the counter. She was condescending and had a very bad attitude towards us. We will never go there again ,it's a shame when visiting a tourist town everything else was good the last stop we made was going to the candy shop and it was our biggest mistake ever. read more
