Oof. Dr. Raisen is terrible, and I'm not picky about doctors. I came in for a general PCP appointment to continue my prescriptions, and i walked out feeling awful about myself. She told me I needed to lose weight and that I was exacerbating my depression by drinking too much (after telling her I have a total of three drinks a week). I...didn't even ask for her input on either? A sure fire way to make a femme, depressed patient spiral out is to tell them they need to lose weight - especially unnecessary in the middle of a pandemic? She also wasn't very considerate of LGBTQ matters on sexual health. Didn't "get why" I wasn't on birth control. I'm...gay. read more

My experience with Dr. Raisen was the worst doctor's appointment of my life. Similar to a previous reviewer, I made an appointment with her to get refills on my prescriptions from another doctor at the same practice who left. I had been seeing the previous doctor for years. I left my (virtual) 20 minute appointment with Dr. Raisen without any prescriptions, with an incorrect, unsolicited diagnosis, with an erroneous recommendation for weight loss surgery, and a my records being sent to another doctor without my consent. Without going into private details, Dr. Raisen told me she was unlicensed to prescribe certain medications in New York (so why are you even taking on patients for prescriptions?). She diagnosed me with a medical condition that I do not have (my previous doctor never diagnosed this) and made gross misrepresentations of our conversation in my chart which I am now trying to have removed. She also asked me for my weight, plugged it into a BMI calculator, and recommended that I get gastric surgery. I am WAY outside the criteria for that kind of surgery and no doctor has ever mentioned anything except "diet and exercise" to me as a form of weight management. I'm a size 12. This was egregious and outside of her area of expertise (she told me it was a reversible surgery - it's not). She seems to have a major issue with women's weight. She made absolutely no mention of the pandemic, of the stress and anxiety of this time, and instead shamed me for my weight in an appointment that was not in-person and was not about weight loss at all. She also forwarded my record to a doctor without ever telling me she was going to do so - I found out by looking in my patient portal and seeing the "referral." I honestly was so traumatized by this 20 minute appointment and have been reeling from it since. My experience with Dr Raisen and her staff was absolutely awful, I cannot tell you how disappointed I am with her treatment. She bills herself as an integrative practitioner, and as a place to go for people who don't want to see the average western medicine general practitioner. She is worse than any GP I have ever seen, she is completely distracted and doesn't listen to you at all during your appointment. I had a few issues that I wanted to address and she informed me straight away that I was to pick ONE and that she didn't care about my other issues. Disappointed, I was already in the office, had taken the morning off of work for the appointment, she was going to bill me anyway, so I stayed even though as we spoke some red flags were starting to fly. She began to worry me when she read medical text to me off her phone of what she thought my condition might be and had trouble recalling basic medical terms. Hey I have WEB MD at home I don't need her to charge me to read it to me. She then began to tell me to do my own research and suggested books I should read about holistic medicine. I am kind of starting to wonder what I am paying her for. What is apparent with her practice is the lack of professionalism from her and especially from her staff. It is extremely easy to get an appointment with Dr Raisen even-though from what I can tell she only sees patients two days a week and makes you very aware that she works from a "home office" the other days, so you will need to be patient if you want information. The checkout/billing is not done at the front desk but is shoved into a storage closet as you stand in the hall. No time for questions they want you in and out ASAP. They also process your credit card payment at another location and just write your cc number on your chart ( had I known this I would not have handed over my card). I had the blood tests done that she recommended right there in the office left a little worse for ware, with a prescription for an antibiotic. I called a week or so later for my test results and they said that I needed to come in for an appointment. Worried that something was wrong I made the appointment and took my husband with me as they didn't give me much information on the phone. She goes over the results with me for her to tell me that the results are inconclusive and I need to have more blood work done. Couldn't she have just sent me to a lab? Did I really need an appointment for this? When I asked her for a referral for a pain in my knee from an injury she suggested a rheumatologist.( I was pretty sure she had not heard me.) I have the blood drawn again and this time call for my results. All they tell me is that I need another appointment. I insist that they send me my results beforehand. They do send one page with the doctors "notes" all over it and two of the pages are missing. I called and left several messages to retrieve the missing pages and hopefully have clean copies ( no one ever picks up the phone when you call they always return your call) I even e-mail asking for copies and all of the documents regarding my results. I finally get a call from her rude assistant Miranda telling me that the info on the other pages was just info for the doctor. Oh really and who paid for those results? That would be me. Is your doctor entitled to withhold any portion of your medical results? Absolutely not. I have left several other messages asking to be called back, I am under her care after all and no one has since returned my call. Shameful. read more

Dr. Raisen is such a lovely women and Dr. She is always beyond helpful whenever I see her. We end up chatting about all sorts of interesting topics. She takes the time to find out what is happening in my life and my health. She is really the best. read more

If I could rate 0 stars I would. Dr Raisen was so rude right from the start. I came in for a rash on my finger, but instead she decided to tell me how splotchy and uneven skin tone I had on my face. She started off by saying what happen to your face? Shocked about how up front she was, I tried to continue about my finger. She kept saying "I'm sorry I'm so distracted with your skin on your face". "you must where a lot of make up not to notice". I do not wear a lot of makeup and I take care of my skin. I have never had an issue with my skin let alone on my face. When I asked for a referral for my finger she told me she would mail me one. I asked if it was possiable to get the refferal today, she responded with "we are really busy here". When I asked if she could at least find one close to where I live she replied will see. She never even looked at my finger. I left with no answers and very upset. I cried on the way home thinking what was wrong with my face. I can't believe that a Dr whom I have never met was so rude and unprofessional. 1 week later I received the referral. After seeing several doctors who proved a waste of my time and money.....Dr. Raisen quickly got to the root of my problem and made me feel better than I thought I could feel. She's the only doctor I've ever been to who treated me like an intelligent human being, explained everything, and didn't make it all seem so mysterious. Walking out of her office I had the prominent thought, "If she had been my doctor when I was a kid, I would definitely have wanted to become a doctor myself!" I met Dr. Raisen over 10 years ago, when I was referred to her by a friend who had been her patient for years. I had been suffering with symptoms that 3 different doctors had been prescribing medications to me that only made me feel worse. I was frustrated and ready to give up on being diagnosed properly. Dr. Raisen recommended a few tests and was able to diagnose me with Celiac disease (which I had not previously been tested). When she prescribed diet and supplements to control my symptoms, not prescription medications, I was skeptical. Within a few weeks of her protocol, I began to notice my symptoms had subsided. Over the next few months, I felt better than I had in years, and I continue to follow her protocol. I can honestly say that Dr. Raisen is like Sherlock Holmes. I am a US Army veteran with chronic asthma, and wasn't satisfied with my medical care at the VA hospital. I found out about Dr. Raisen through a relative and thought I'd give her a try. I was impressed by the thoroughness with which she checked my health problems - doing a complete blood exam right away, and immediately giving me the latest asthma bronchodilators. The result? within HOURS I was feeling better than with the years of treatment at the VA Hospital. I highly recommend Dr. Raisen for her superior diagnostic and skills. Shera Raisen is an incompetent medicine doctor, she has so many business and personal problems that she can not focus on patients. She a person that likes to hear herself talk and will not let the patient tell her what their reasons for coming to the office. She money hungry always talking about money problems and she has a very short temper and she very unprofessional. And wen her staff is more professional than she is, her madness kicks in and she becomes bitter. Every vendor, contractor, and business she comes in contact ends up regretting it, because she's a problem to deal with and they end up wanting nothing to do with her at all. I was very very unpleased with my experience with Dr Raisen. I feel she is not integral and does not have a general concern for her patients well being. She represents her self as a holistic aware doctor. Before going to see her I read her website and thought by the way she represented her self on the site that she would have patients and be a Doctor with a hands ons approach, in which she would give her patients the attention and care they were paying for. In my experience with her nothing could be further from the truth. She rushed me in and out and was not through at ALL. She is scattered brain and clearly is trying to see as many patients in a day as possible for financial purposes. Which make her time extremely limited with you. She is in no way concerned about the patients needs. Instead I feel she gives you the standard 15 min slot of time after which her main focus is to take your money. As much as she can get. She recommended me to take several unnecessary test and pushed the products she sells in her office that I didnt need on me. Later I found out she get a % of the sales when her clients buy them. She refused to answer my questions regarding the test she had me take and demanded that for me to get the results I had to do another office visit and pay more $. When I was reluctant to to do this she agreed to do a $100 "consultation" over the phone. Our phone conversation was about 8 mins long where she refused to answer my questions or be through. She rushed me off the phone and only recommend I take the various supplements in her office for sale, then I asks her to explain the test results and she said she didnt have time and passed the phone to the reception who was clueless as to my inquiries. Then they charged my credit car they had on file THREE times ($300) for the 8 min phone conversation in which she refused to even answer my questions. Her receptionist Miranda is a very nice women who knows how to deal with people well but she could not do much to help. In addition I was misinformed by Raisen and her office that the test I got would be no more then $290. I was paying out of pocket so I was fanatical about finding out how much the test would cost. I was assured on more then one occasion that $290 is the maximum I would pay. The test ended up costing me a total (two test I might add) of $2600 plus the money I shelled out to her office for poor service and lack of her help for a total of $3500. Now $3500 later I still have yet to get her response in what my test results were and the problem still exist. In summary, I highly recommend you avoid this doctor by all cost! In my opinion and experience she only cares for patients for financial reason and has no other motive then get your money. It is a shame that she is so unintegral when people go to her truster her as a professional and seeking honest medical care. read more

Definitely the worst doctor that I've ever been to. She has absolutely no idea what she's doing. I saw her initially to prescribe my bio-identical hormones. I can relate to the reviewer who mentioned Dr. Raisen's random comment saying that she thought there was something wrong with her face. When I was there, she made a similar comment about my neck, saying, "What's wrong with your neck?" It was also the way she said it, like I had a tumor or something and turned out to be nothing. Her manner is odd and she comes across, as others have said, as very distracted. When I told her my symptoms, she looked up them up and read potential diagnoses from the medical textbook. I inquired about her "iv room" and asked what sort of treatments she offered. She told me that one of the therapies was DMPS which is a chelating agent used for ridding the body/brain of heavy metals. She was giving her patients a one-off dose of this chelator which would cause them massive redistribution of mercury, aluminum and other toxins. I followed the Cutler low dose protocol to recover from mercury poisoning myself, so I know that oral chelation is not only much safer, but more effective. You have to keep an even level of chelator in your bloodstream over a course of 3 days (even at night) or more, or else you can wind up as mad as a hatter. I doubt if she screened her chelation patients for any mercury fillings either. God help them. Another problem that I had was her ordering an excessive amount of lab work. She would test for everything you can imagine and then some. When I received the statement from the lab, it showed that she ordered some of the same tests twice, billed with different billing codes. Maybe she had a financial interest in it since they did their own labs. Her office is extremely disorganized and poorly run. The last time that I saw her, her assistant had quit (I can see why) so it was more chaotic than usual. She shares an office with another doctor, but it's really his office and his staff. If you were to have an emergency, you would be in trouble because her staff almost never answers the phone. You can leave a message, but they never call back. Out of desperation, I resorted to calling the other doctor's office number to leave Dr. Raisen a message. They acted like a lot of her patients do that and said that they'd pass along the message but asked me to please not do that again. She also insists on an office visit in order to discuss the results of your lab work. I live quite a distance away so I asked them to fax them to me and was informed that she wouldn't talk to me about the results unless I paid her phone fee. I forget how much this was but it was far more than my $45 co-pay. My next doctor will be a naturopath. I DO NOT recommend Dr. Raisen. read more

Dr. Raisen is a GODSEND! My uncle was at the V.A. Hospital with an infection in his big toe, and the podiatry team was a heartbeat away from amputating his toe, when I rushed in and took him out of the hospital and into Dr. Raisen's office. Using her expertise in so many areas of medicine, Dr. Raisen was able to wean my uncle off the pharmaceutical drugs (that were giving him a huge awful rash on his forehead) and onto natural remedies. AFTER ONLY TWO WEEKS, MY UNCLE'S TOE IS HALF WAY HEALED AND HE GETS TO KEEP IT!! His home health nurse said, "It would have been a shame if they had taken it off!" Words cannot express how appreciative I am of Dr. Raisen. She is a one-of-a-kind, brilliant physician who, because of her licensing as both an M.D. and an N.D. (Naturopathic Doctor), has the rare ability to guide people to complete healing, when conventional doctors treat patients by cutting ailing body parts out, radiating them or drugging them up to mask the symptoms. I asked Dr. Raisen if she help me heal his toe and also wean him off of the pharmaceutical drugs and onto natural remedies. She did it! I made an appointment with Dr. Raisen and when I arrived, the door was locked. Turns out she didn't open the office that day and no one called to cancel the appointment with me. I had to pay $6 to get out of the parking lot. When I called the next day, the receptionist said she was sorry that no one called me and would I like to reschedule. No offer to reimburse me for the parking. Super unprofessional and no attempt to make things right. Needless to say I'll be moving on. read more
