Sheridan's brunch and food is great. I've never gone wrong with the Oatmeal-Blueberry Pancakes or Eggs Sheridan or the Pulled Pork Benedict. It's a nicely decorated place, with comfortable seating, and a fireplace in the back dining room. And while I like visiting, service has always seemed to be lacking, from taking that first order, to refilling the coffee, to getting the check, and I see others have pointed that out. They serve Valentine Coffee, which I love, but get bigger cups (and Splenda)! Tea cups don't do us coffee drinkers justice if the coffee service is slow. Yelper Cliches: Can we stop calling restaurants that have been on Yelp for a full decade with over 100 reviews a "hidden gem"? Sheridan's is in plain view on Lake Drive (four lane highway 32), and everyone in the area knows about Sheridan's. Sheridan's is not bad, could be better, A-Okay 3-stars. read more

They have an electronic keycard for the building and your room, and no reception. They give you a code for the lock box the first day and leave your key in there (along with everyone else's). On the second day, they apparently decided to change our keys without telling us. We were stuck outside in the rain with no way to get into the building, and no one to buzz us in. They said "we changed your keys and slipped your new keys under the door." Big help that is when we are stuck outside in the rain. What a ridiculous thing to do. The walls and floors are paper thin. This bed and breakfast is such a gem. There is a large parking lot for Sheridan's across the street. The decor inside is a modern and classic look. Soft brown seats against a soft yellow walls, the tables are plenteous and of white marble. We attended a surprise wedding reception here and it was well done here! They opted for a buffet style due to the large amount of people. This is an August. I'm certain the fireplace in the eating space would have been it very welcome in winter time. The patio outside is large and it wraps around behind the building. There are lots of seating and tables with umbrellas in the patio. My boyfriend and I like to find new places and we drove past here a few times. He decided to take me here today for brunch as it's the day before my birthday. It's a very nice restaurant, looks clean, it's quiet, and it wasn't crowded. The hostess was friendly and we were seated right away. We went through the main area where you first walk in and sat in the corner of the other half of the restaurant. It was nice because there wasn't a lot of people. Our waitress came over and unfortunately she wasn't very friendly. We saw at least three other waitresses (seems like every table had their own) and they all checked on their tables and told the diners what the specials were. We were not told about any specials, we heard what they were from the table next to us. I understand everyone has an off day but when you're a waitress or in customer service in general first impressions make a difference. You get a little turned off when the service isn't that great. I ordered the veggie omelette which came with mushrooms and onions, if you want cheese that'll cost you extra. It's already $11 which I think is a bit pricey so charging extra for cheese is a little crazy to me. The food took a while and I would say it tasted ok. The omelette was good but far from great and the hashbrowns were over cooked for my liking, some people will definitely disagree. Overall the food was alright, nothing too special although it was just eggs and hashbrowns. I would try this place again for the simple fact that I've only been there once and tried two things. Started with a warm hot chocolate, my peeps had some coffee and the kids for chocolate milk in to-go cups with lids and straws-genius, because even though their drinks fell to the seat, no spills. We came abput 1pm on a Saturday -lucky because they close at 2! There was a large table with twenty guests or more, several other small groups, but still could hear everyone in my group just fine. They've got a smallish menu but everything we had was very good and priced reasonably. One of us had Sheridan eggs, another had Italian baked eggs, and I had the pulled pork Benedict. The kids had scrambled eggs and Cranberry bread toast. Portions are ample, and one of us took.a togo box, the rest of us cleaned our plates. Made a reservation for 6 to have brunch at Sheridans. It's been a while since I've first heard of this place that's only open for brunch & lunch so they "should" nail it! Milwaukeeans love our brunch! When I first arrived it appears they lost our reservation or just weren't prepared. After several minutes they claimed another party came late so they mistakenly switched around reservations, but must've been a falsehood because a second table would've been set up and ready. Anyway, no biggie there were plenty of other open tables. Two of us were sitting at the table early as we waited for the rest of the group. No one came by. Would've been appropriate to get greeted by some sort of waitstaff and maybe offered a drink order so we can start spending our money. Eventually we went up to the bar that was only a few feet away. There, the person behind the bar refused to serve us because she wanted us to wait for our server. That would've been fine if the server had shown up. At the point when customers are being ignored and not able to give an establishment their money in exchange for goods, maybe allow us to wet our whistle until someone decides to show up, greet us, and take our order. She explained how incredibly busy they were. Which, all I have to base facts on are my eyes and observational skills, but there were several empty tables, as mentioned, and quite a few different servers I saw passing by. I was confused as to how "busy" they were. So ... back to the table empty handed we went. Eventually someone did show up. And the rest of our party. But, a rough start. When placing our orders for food, the dish I had decided they were out of. It was early, 11:30, but maybe never had it from the start. Ideally server mentions this sooner so someone doesn't set their heart on something they can't get, and has time to choose something else on the menu, but life goes on. And the server was kind, just the experience wasn't really what it could've been. The dish I ended up with was poached eggs in marinara type sauce and that came with a side of herbed bread with Parmesan. I thought it was overkill that a dish that comes with a thick piece of bread was then covered with a ton of bread crumbs. It just gets too bready. I love herbs but as with anything, there's a point it can go too far. They were just about there with the amount of sage in the dish. Really unexciting dish for a place that just does brunch. Brunch was fantastic. We had a patio seating surrounded by little gardens and a mini fountain, as well as the boutique hotel itself. I'd agree that the air traffic is not adding value to the experience but overall it was s great ambience. The food was great too. I ordered the bistro combo, aka half soup half sandwich. It's been several months since my last visit to Sheridan's. It was just as good as I remembered. My sister had heard they had some decent specials for St. Patrick's Day so we decided to check them out for lunch. I went in with every intention of getting a Reuben but I'm sucker for breakfast at any time of the day. Sheridan's is open from 7am-2pm and breakfast is available that whole time. I quickly decided on the breakfast panini. Fried egg, cheese, bacon and an orange marmalade spread on the sandwich, it was absolutely delicious. Also a really good value at $10, also included your choice of a side. My sister did get the Reuben with sweet potato fries. It was a delicious mess of a sandwich, I had to have a bite. So good. The sweet potato fries were some of the best I've ever had. If you're a fan of sweet potato fries, I highly recommend getting them here. I have stayed at Sheridan's B&B twice now and had a great experience both times! The rooms are lovely and very clean, nice beds and great bathroom/shower. Spring for one of the rooms with the full jet tub if you want to treat yourself! It's worth it :) One of the perks is you get breakfast delivered to your door each morning, and it's absolutely delicious. Contactless check-in was a breeze, easy parking. This place in a hidden gem. The interior is well decorated with an classic but modern feel. The pancakes with the orange flavored whip cream is delicious, and some of the best pancakes I've ever had. The Benedict is also great. The service is always exceptional, and the space is great for groups both large and small. If you have a larger group, I believe they take reservations. read more

My husband was looking for a nice place to take his mom on Mother's Day and we were lucky enough to get a reservation at Sheridan's. We'd been there a few times after they opened, but I hadn't been back in a few years (basically because it's not close to home). The Mister has been regularly since he used to work down the street, and said it's been up and down. They've hired a new chef recently and things definitely seem to be "up". They've refreshed the menu, and added some new drinks - we tried their version of the Sidecar and the Blackberry Mule ($8 ea). Now $8 for a cocktail is probably going to raise some eyebrows in Cudahy ("them's downtown prices, eh?") but I can assure they're pouring with a HEAVY hand, so you're getting your money's worth. For food, I went with Eggs Sheridan which is essentially eggs benedict using toasted Italian bread instead of English muffins. It was very, very good - in particular, I appreciate that my eggs were perfectly poached. This is hard to find for some reason. Husband and MIL both went with halibut, which was a nice sized filet served with fresh veg (peas, green beans and asparagus). The fish was light, flaky and perfectly cooked. No complaints at all on the food front. Service was pretty good too - our server was knowledgeable, made good recommendations and was friendly and attentive. Coming to a place on Mother's Day is a good test - it's hectic and people have "expectations" (everyone is a special snowflake) so I was happy to see that Sheridan's seemed to be firing on all cylinders. A few more things - the interior is gorgeous - basically Modern French Art Nouveau. They've got great toiletries in the bathroom (L'Occitaine) - that matters. Finally, they are ADA accessible - there's a ramp on the side of the building which my MIL appreciated very much. This is my absolute favorite place in the Milwaukee area for brunch. Their food is a little fancy, but not overly fussy. Everything is supremely well executed, from the hash browns to all the egg dishes. Their quiche and souflee's are my favorite. The atmosphere is clean and classy. The indirect lighting on the walls, the marble tables, the fireplace, the artsy metalwork all come together beautifully. She did check on our table a few minutes after delivering the food, and maybe she was busy with a few other tables but we didn't see her again until we flagged her down so we could finally get out of there (Service 1/5). Got there a little before 10:30 and the place was pretty empty. I checked in with the hostess and was told it was going to be about 45 minutes. I inquired about all the empty tables and was told those were being reserved for some bigger groups that were coming in that had made reservations. I understand a place is not going to turn down larger groups that come in, but think that some more open tables should be available for those that walk in. It's a fantastic location and a beautiful building inside and out, with a great patio but the dishes just aren't prepared well and menu items leave much to be desired. Every time I've gone my meal is over cooked (hard egg yolks) and on 2 occasions, burned (bacon and toast). For the prices, there should be no issues in this department in my opinion. The presentation of the breakfast was incredible, the veg. Omelet came with red peppers mushrooms onions avocado and feta cheese. The chef created a masterpiece. We also tried the Italian egg bake that had two poached eggs in it with Panko crumbs and marinara sauce, amazing. The coffee was probably one of the best coffees we've had in Milwaukee. I'm completely convinced that a tornado came and picked this place up from some trendy-upper class neighborhood and decided to drop it right at the edge of Cudahy instead of into the Lake. This restaurant/hotel is so out of place in Cudahy, I'm convinced the locals don't even know it exists. Top 10 Reasons That Sheridan's Is Out of Place In Cudahy- 10. On Saturday's there isn't a group of guys gathered around the TV watching "The Race" (AKA the sport that is exclusively left turns). 9. There are no happy hour specials for $1 Miller Lites. 8. They serve more than just Miller and Jack Daniel's. 7. Their pizza isn't made in a "state-of-the-art pizza oven". 6. Their food isn't made by the local drunk who lives in the rooming house down the street. 5. Vegetarians can eat here. 4. They don't have a pull tab machine. 3. Most of the clientele here work in an office and not on a roof. 2. Patrons don't walk in with their dogs. And the number one reason- The music played here isn't Whitesnake/Def Leppard/Bon Jovi. Now you might ask why I know so much about the area, well my dirty little secret is that I spent a couple years living in Cudahy taking advantage of cheap rent. And while I didn't patronize a whole lot of the neighborhood businesses at the time, I did stop regularly to Sheridan's for coffee and most importantly, the bakery. So since I was in the area yesterday, I decided to stop in for an afternoon snack. The coffee here is basic but good. They serve Collectivo and they will make Espresso's , Mocha's, Latte's, things like that. Your coffee is made to order at the coffee bar up front. I'm not sure if they make their bakery in house or not, but whoever makes it does an awesome job. This is one place in the area where I can say I've sampled a wide array of their baked goods and have never had anything less than excellent. Today's selection was suggested by my kind server, who pointed me towards the Chocolate Covered Pecan Cinnamon Roll. This thing demonstrated Flavor Kung Fu on my taste buds, as each side of my mouth was hit with different flavors and textures blended perfectly. Absolutely amazing, I'll be sure to order the same when I go back for coffee and a snack. The servers are kind, quick and helpful. One thing I haven't done here (strangely) is stop in for a full meal. I'll be doing this soon. The chef takes unnecessary culinary shortcuts especially for the price point. -None of the eggs were salted or peppered. -The hash browns that inevitably came from a freezer bag still had the lingering taste of freezer burn and runny water. -Having a Miller lite chaser in a beer community for a bloody is just sad. I work in the area and this was my go-to lunch spot for quite a while. For the most part, I love this place. However, there is a certain je ne sais quoi that is lacking. Maybe it's the context of the neighborhood that this place is located it. When this place opened, I was blown away. Now, I'm not as blown away every time like I used to be. Maybe its just me. The interior is absolutely awesome!! Maybe the best bathrooms in the Milwaukee area. Right up there with the bathrooms at the Ambassador Hotel. I regret to say that I am a Cudahy boy born and breed. For all the times that I have lied about that or apologized for it, I don't need to apologize for this place. I just have to wonder what this place is doing in Cudahy!!!??? I understand that the owners are from here, so I guess it makes sense. Not really sure of the rational for an upscale B&B in Cudahy, but maybe they thought that "if they build it, they will come." I have yet to meet anyone who has stayed here, so I can't comment on that. I certainly wish them all the success. Clearly, they made a HUGE investment in this place. It really shows their passion for their city and for their profession. Back to the restaurant.. They have some really great things on the menu. For lunch, you must have the Mac & Cheese. I once told a friend that I would never order M&C in a restaurant, but I'm man enough to admit that I'm wrong. Go with one of their pizza's if you are sharing an appetizer. Also, the make their own chips instead of fries and they rock. As for dinner, I always go with whatever the special happens to be that day. I have yet to be disappointed except for once. We were there once on Valentine's day and I was disappointed with the lobster. Other than that, I can recall some awesome scallops, creamy risotto, and great pork tenderloin. I can't say enough nice things about the servers. Always polite, always solid. This is a very nice romantic spot for dinner. Having first eaten at Sheridans in February of 2008 when they were a relatively new establishment my wife and I had a very mixed experience back then with remarkably bad service and quite good food (once we were finally served). Having just eaten there for a second time now with my wife and daughter I am happy to report that the service issues have apparently been fixed, and the food quality is as good or better than our first visit. We arrived at around 12:30 on Sunday and the place was jumping. We were told it would be around a 10 minute wait, so we had a seat at their little bar. We were promptly greeted by a friendly bartendress, and my daughter ordered a hot chocolate that was a real work of art with LOTS of whipped cream, and chocolate swirls as well as a biscuit cookie for dunking. Nothing like starting with dessert! Less than 10 minutes into our wait we were ushered into the boisterous main dining room which is very bright and airy with a great art deco retro vibe. I had the Sweet Applewood Panini sandwich, my wife had a burger, and my daughter had the oatmeal pancakes. To start I ordered the Sheridan Homemade chips, that come with a creamy dill dipping sauce, as well as a bottle of malt vinegar. The chips arrived still warm, and were exceptional! Cafe LuLu's chips are now officially in second place behind Sheridan's. The food arrived promptly by our friendly attentive waiter, and was all delicious, and the best part---- the prices. Probably one of the cheapest--quality brunches in Milwaukee with most entree's in the $7-10 range. I am very glad Sheridan's has worked out it's initial kinks so well. This is now a place I would recommend to anyone for a great lunch/brunch. I have been here twice for breakfast and I have to say this is my go to location in south Milwaukee for breakfast. I had the hash and eggs the first time and it was good. Second time was just some ham and eggs which was also good. The cinnamon toast is utterly delicious dripping butter, cinnamon and sugar, it reminded me of being a kid. If this place wasn't on the edge of nothingness, I would stop here almost every time I am home for the Holidays (maybe I will anyway). There is a warm, inviting fireplace in the main dining room. The drink menu is fantastic with a huge list of seasonal hot drinks & fabulous sounding cocktails. Is it wrong to get drunk in the middle of the day on a Tuesday? Looking over the brunch menu there is always a "chef's choice" option and a "souffle of the day." Hotte. You are out of the souffle? No! You break my heart! I got the corned beef hash instead. Which was enorma-sized and awesome. I had my choice of a whole bunch of toasts including some sort of bread with cranberries. I got that. Wow. Thick. Chewy yet nicely toasted. Buttered. Delicious. Awesome. I want a loaf to take home. Speaking of taking home, I got a slice of some trifle-raspberry-crack cake (deliciously whipped light & fluffy butter frosting eat chew devour) and a piece of carrot cake for my mother. When leaving the restaurant I noticed COOKIES in their display case. Including a LAVENDER cookie. I have always been fond of flower flavoured things. Why didn't I buy ALL of these cookies? My mom threw a baby shower (about 15 people total) here for my husband and me on a Sunday afternoon. I found the place by searching for "Milwaukee's best brunch places" and this place came up in several reviews. According to my mom, the staff was super great to work with in choosing the menu, arranging the tables, decorating, and so on. The wait staff was very attentive to our party and did their best to accommodate us. The food was outstanding, too. Like I mentioned, the menu was set beforehand by my mom, and it was delicious. We had a fresh fruit cup and cranberry nut bread for an appetizer, then they brought out the vegetable souffle with perfectly cooked bacon and a small salad with light dressing. We were able to choose from an array of drinks (regular and decaf lattes, coffee, juice, and mimosas), and I had a delicious decaf latte. We also had dessert served--the most moist carrot cake I've ever had. It was simply outstanding. I would recommend this place for a shower, but you'd have to keep it small. First of all, points for a parking lot! Woo hoo! Second, big points for Collectivo coffee and sugar cubes! I didn't know they made them anymore! The tables are a bit small, but for the venue perfectly. It's not really a spread-out- and -take-over kind of place. More of a get-to-know-your-friend place. Perfect for a first date. The bathrooms were clean and generally awesome. Individual towels and expensive soap and option (my favorite brand!) The hubs and I went for brunch on a Sunday. Really cute little swanky place. Perfect venue to host a smaller summer wedding. I ordered the biscuits and gravy, while my hubby had the packer pile up. The food was good. I ordered my eggs scrambled, and they were light and fluffy! My hubby's meal was much more than he could eat in one sitting, I almost wish it was in a skillet or or sauce, because the meats were chopped so tiny and kept falling off his fork. But he absolutely loved it, so not really an issue :) Will we return? Why, yes, we are leaving soon for brunch! While we are huge fans of Honeypie, Palomino ans Benelux, this place is less crowded, has faster service, and also a local food supporter. Good job! read more

Solid brunch/lunch spot. Let's face it...There are little (To no) food options in the Cudahy/St. Francis area. This place is just adorable. It has a sweet neighborhood establishment kinda feel, but yet remains classy. Cute little patio, quick service. Reasonable prices. There's a nice little parking lot across the street, too. Went to Sheridan's for brunch. It.was.amazing! Food was delicious! They offered unique brunch options. I had an omelette and it was awesome! They offer both hash browns or potato wedges. The ambience was classy & stylish. Very friendly service. Will be back soon! read more

My boyfriend and I stayed at the hotel here to celebrate Christmas. Lovely boutique hotel and the restaurant was perfect for a romantic dinner and brunch in the morning. No complaints whatsoever. I'd say the brunch was a bit better than the dinner, but regardless, we will be back. Seems like there is something for everyone. Thanks for a great stay! read more

Had to go check out my namesake.! More than pleasantly surprised impressed even. Good pint o guinness onion rings fresh cut and battered and the mighty bird chicken sammich on pretzel bread...damn good. Fresh ingredients and good folks. what more could you ask for?
