Stopped by after the airport for brunch. Awesome spot in the middle of a neighborhood. Cute vintage decor and the most friendly staff ever. Mitchell was my table guy and he was amazing! Also free wifi that actually works! Got the savory bread pudding and it was good! House coffee was good and strong too (Mitchell said they used a specific roaster but I've forgotten now). I will recommend all who fly into MKE to stop by. Only a 10 team drive away and has its own private parking lot (free). read more

Wow! Great food and service a nice break from the "look at me brunching" crowd. I had the savory bread pudding with a poached egg on top. Food came out a little slow for just an omelette and my bread pudding but the constant flow of delicious coffee took the edge off. Make a reservation if you are a party larger than two. read more

I've been to Sheridan's just once, but I must admit that the food is quite good. I was somewhat disappointed in the serving size for my breakfast for the price I paid, but every bite of the food was good. The service, the atmosphere, and the food all get 4 stars from me. Just wish the serving size was just a pinch bigger. Also, it wouldn't be a review from me without a coffee review: I give their coffee a 8/10 for being dark, full, yet smooth. Fish Fry Review: Sheridan's is a nice little bistro type restaurant. The choices for fish fry are either Fried Cod for $12, Fried Lake Perch for $14, or Combo Fish Fry with Cod, Perch, and Shrimp for $16. Each fish fry includes cole slaw, hush puppy, and your choice of potato - mashed, baked, or house special Sheridan Chips. Fish was good. The cod's batter was kinda chewy. Lake Perch had panko breading. Shrimp was battered and deep fried. Cole Slaw was plain. Hush puppy was okay but dry. Sheridan Chips were overrated. Cara got the baked the potato. I wish they had fries. It takes reservations but are not necessary for small groups after 8 pm. Total bill for 2 including drinks and tip: $49. read more

Had 6 PM reservations on a Saturday night. We were seated immediately and thought we'd have no problem getting to our show at 8PM. Very friendly staff and very nice decor. Loved how bright it was. We started out with the sourdough bread and dipping oil that was brought to the table. We then chose the scallops and shrimp appetizers and moved on to a Mediterranean salad. For the main course, I tried the short rib with chile tamale and the man had the steak. All the food was absolutely fabulous. Now this may sound like a lot of food but the portions were not that big. Not small plates, but def not large either. Our entrees didn't come out until 7:30PM. I was very nervous about not making the show. Slammed down our food and took dessert to go. We did get an apology for the wait from the waitress. I can't imagine the delay if the place was actually full. The courtyard look so beautiful that if love to give the place another try. See below for my original review in August 2013. Upgraded in December 2013 from a 1 star to 3 star. I've been back to Sheridan's a couple of times now, as it's really the only option in the area for brunch. The food is pretty good, and reasonably priced compared to downtown. The service here is just goofy though. You're going to wait longer than you should, but other than the first visit the wait hasn't been excessive. No one is in a hurry here, the more people there are, the slower the servers move. They have an issue with toast, you're never going to get your toast with your breakfast, it's going to come after you've finished most of your food, and it's going to be burnt. We had two pepper shakers on our table (both had two holes instead of three), I swapped it out with the table next to us and mentioned to our server that the table next to us needed one now. She picked it up and shook it out onto her palm- and showed us; "See, it's salt." Then switched them back from our table. Just weird. Anyways, go if you're not in a hurry or not particularly picky about service at restaurants. DO NOT go if they're busy, even if you have a reservation. __________________________________________________________ So disappointing. I've been to Sheridans before and had an excellent dinner. I recently moved to the area and was excited to have a potential new brunch spot, but doubt I'll be back. Arrived at quarter of eleven and was seated immediately on the patio. Got drinks fast enough, ordered a few minutes later, but over an hour later of sitting in the direct sunlight with our waitress nowhere to be found and no food, Sheridans became the first place we've ever walked out of. Larger tables that arrived after us received their food, which makes me think that our simple egg dishes were never even entered as orders. The wait was obviously long for many other tables, if the kitchen is backed up they shouldn't be seating more tables. Better to tell people there's a wait than disappointing potential regulars. Left with nothing more than probably a bad sunburn and hunger. read more

I'm a fifty night a year traveler for Business and get to stay in my share of nice hotels and not so nice hotels. I may be unique in that I prefer to stay and eat in non-chain and seek venues where I get to feel like I am at home. Using non chain hotels can be a risk. Sheridan House is no risk for hotel accommodations for the leisure or business traveler. Keep in mind you are staying in an Inn and not a HGI so services will be different. Rooms trump any chain and the owners are committed to making your stay special. Food in the bistro is scratch cooking. Very creative menu selection with plenty of flavors. Restuarant has limited hours during weekday evenings so Busienss travelers inquire in advance. Owners will recommend an alternative for weeknight meals. Fitness room is small but fine for a quick cardio workout. Not sure about business center services. Location may seem non-ideal but don't worry about it. Easy access to expressway and DT without the hassle of heavy commute areas like Brookfield to DT. I recommend Sheridan House and Cafe if you're traveling to greater Milwaukee. read more

Decided to make a return visit for dinner at Sheridans - I'd stayed in the attached hotel before so I was familiar with it. Went on a Thursday night around 5 pm. It was not busy so I had no problem getting a parking spot in the lot and a table right away. There seemed to be only two servers working in the restaurant and one of them was also having to help people who were trying to check into the hotel part, however the service was relatively quick in terms of getting me seated right away, giving me a drink right away, taking my order promptly, and checking back to refill water and see if I needed anything. The servers were very pleasant and friendly. Once I had put in my order, though, the time it took for the food to actually show up was quite long (probably a half hour or more), especially given that only about a half dozen other people at most were eating and most of them had come in after me. I wouldn't recommend eating here if you are on a tight schedule. I had the bruschetta, mac n' cheese and dessert. The food was decent but pretty bland, with the exception of the side salad that came with the mac n' cheese and had a nice zesty dressing. The mac n' cheese especially tasted like it could use an added spice or ingredient (bacon? seafood? onion?) to create a more flavorful dish. The desserts were very good though, I ended up eating one there and having one boxed to take home. I recommend the Ruth's Cheese Torte to anyone who, like me, enjoys the taste of cheesecake but finds most cheesecake too heavy and dense to eat. The Cheese Torte is by comparison light and the graham cracker crust is yummy. Giving them four stars anyway for atmosphere as there are few dining options in the area and most of them are along the lines of "drive ins, diners and dives", so it is nice to have a prettier and little more upscale (but still casual enough that you can wear your jeans) place to drop by for food and wine. read more

Wow wow wow. Stopped in here for lunch with sister and daughter. What a beautiful clean friendly staff can't wait to go back. Nico our server great job. Turned me on to the Steak Sandwich for lunch and have to say. Probably no wait that was thee best steak sandwich I ever had in my young life of 50yrs old. Everyone's meal was well worth the trip. Nice relaxing environment. Came home told my wife we will be there when we both have a weekday off. Love it when things turn out great. Especially when the weather sucks. read more

This was our 1st visit to this restaurant, and it probably will be our only, due to poor, slow service for mediocre sandwiches. It was a beautiful Thursday noon, so our friends suggested we join them at the Sheridan, for a total of 4 of us. After being seated for 5 minutes outside , our waitress took a drink order, and we waited another 5 minutes before she returned with them and then ice water. We placed our order and waited 35-40 minutes, before the 1st two of our party was served, and waited another 3 minutes or more before the last 2 of us were served. When our order arrived, my husband's order had sweet potato fries when he had ordered chips. The waitress offered to "send it back" but we needed to get on with it, and so declined. She should have simply gone in and brought out chips, without delay. His fries weren't even very warm. We also commented that we didn't have napkins & another waitress heard and brought our flatware & napkins for our table. The waitress apologized for the delay and that they were busy inside, however, I used the restroom and saw that the restaurant was almost empty. Another outside table arrived 15 minutes after us and received their food 5 minutes before our table of 4. When she brought us the check, she told us the delay was due to the computer crashing. So--what are we to believe?? Whatever, the delay was the time was way too excessive for sandwiches! Also, the outside atmosphere was not great either. They are on the flight path of the airlines flying into Mitchell so constant overhead noise, as well as loud street construction going on. I would not recommend coming here for a pleasant dining experience, unfortunately! read more

Classy decor, attentive service, comfortable atmosphere and the kitchen goes the extra mile. I'm not sure if they have a summer patio, but it's the only thing missing. My visit was just for a light Saturday lunch, but it didn't look swarmed with pretentious hipsters or lofty socialites. Great mix of clientele all enjoying a relaxing vibe. Slow service- I'm not a fan of this place but my lady is. Every time We have been there it takes about 10 minutes before we get our drinks. That's my biggest pet peeve. Food- not too great but ok. They seem to try to make the food too fancy resulting in blah taste. Sometimes the presentation is more important than the taste here. Atmosphere- seems like the customers think their not in cudahy. Yuppie wannabes on a budget. The upscale aristocrats of cudahy and south Milwaukee if there is such a thing. Overall- place to take an out of town family or friend if they want fancy looking over quality taste. read more

The new chef and a changing menu (seasonally) really got Sheridans to a next level. You wont find anything south of the Milwaukee border much nicer. Stay at the hotel for a nice little getaway. Grab the hot tub room. read more

There aren't a lot of nicer places in the So Milw/Cudahy area, but this is a welcome change. I am not a huge biscuits and gravy fan, but I would order this one. The sweet applewood panini is great with the touch of orange marmalade. We will definitely be going back. read more

I'd like to say 3.5 stars. So close to being really great. I did not expect this type of dining experience in Cudahy. Great atmosphere and unique bistro dishes. Bloody Marys are especially good. For lunch, the fish sandwich is amazing. There's also a huge outside patio for eating and drinking outside. The service is very very friendly, although not as sharp as it good be. I have a feeling there's a lot of new servers when I went and that it's improving. read more

Had a surprise weekday brunch date with the hubby here last week. I love the atmosphere. I had the sweet applewood panini ($8) which is a great twist on a bacon egg and cheese breakfast sandwich: they add orange marmalade, taking it in a whole different direction. I will be copying this at home! I had it with the house petite salad which came perfectly dressed and seasoned (most places skip the seasoning step). My vanilla cappuccino was not overly sweet and came with a biscotti. My husband had the corned beef hash ($9), but wasn't crazy about it as it had saurkraut in it, which really isn't to his taste. He did say the the english muffin he ordered with it was the best he ever had though. The service was adequate and we did not have to wait long at all for anything. On a side note. Stop in the bathroom. Not only is it as posh as the rest of the place, but green too. It's the only place I've ever been that has neither paper towels or electric dryers. Cloth handtowels are neatly rolled on a rack and a small laundry bin sits where the trash would normally be. They feature high-end French handsoap and lotion. read more

Sheridan's is one of my favorite restaurants. We have been there many times for brunch. Have enjoyed everything I have ever had. Have also always had very attentive servers. Not hard to get refills on coffee or other beverages. Our favorite is the Friday Fish Fry. I have never had baked fish that tender and delicious. My mouth is watering just thinking about it. It is served with coleslaw and rye bread. For a potato choice I recommend the homemade potato pancakes served with homemade applesauce. YUMMY! read more

Sheridan's might be the only place in all of Cudahy that I'd consider taking a woman on a date. I love Cudahy, but we don't have a lot of classy, romantic options. Sheridan's has a beautiful restaurant and location and I've always been very satisfied with the food. The food was all right, and our waitress was great. However, they wouldn't accept our gift certificate of $50 because it had 'expired'. I understand that gift cards can expire, but it should say so on the gift card. The manager didn't even come out to the table to talk to us about it, and when I tracked him down, he said they had just started this policy last week and they had been getting a lot of complaints about it. He was able to give me $9 off our meal. He suggested I leave my phone number for the owner. The owner called me the next day. She did not call me to hear me out and come to a compromise. She called me to tell me that the card was expired, and offer me a 'buy one, get one free' coupon. Not only does that sound cheesy, it means I have to spend more money at her restaurant! I didn't even bother to have her mail it to me. I could go on and on about the conversation I had with the owner, and how rude she was. But I've already wasted too much time. I have been to a lot of restaurants, and I work in this industry. I have never left a restaurant with such a bitter taste in my mouth. read more

Nice atmosphere for only $10/pp. Manager-type person walking through asking patrons if food and service was satisfactory...nice touch--(not overbearing or cheesy type). Someone near us was celebrating a birthday and got a special dessert free (looked like some kind of cheesecake). Ever since we moved to Milwaukee, Sheridan's was in our rotation for breakfast. The menu is diverse and tasty. The only drawback is that the service has been gradually getting worse after each visit. It's too bad, but happens when the service can't keep up with the popularity of the restaurant. My wife swears by the pancakes and french toast. We were beyond thrilled when Sheridan's finally opened, because it was the type of restaurant Cudahy needed: something classy with a beautiful decor and reasonably priced "fancy" food. We tried it three times after it opened, and each time was worse than the time before. Our main complaint was the fact the service was painfully slow. After much convincing from the husband, we finally decided to go back... three years later. We stopped in for brunch on a Friday morning, and I think you're hard pressed to find a more beautiful, peaceful spot for brunch in Milwaukee. The good news is that service seems to have picked up some. Our breakfasts were also delicious. I started with the salted caramel mocha latte (served with a little biscotti) and the husband had a bloody mary, which had the perfect amount of spice. For breakfast I ordered the Sweet Applewood Panini, which was both sweet and savory; and served with a side of breakfast potatoes that were bland and underseasoned. The husband had The Packer Pile Up, which was a massive combination of food he really enjoyed. The price was reasonable, the food was pretty delicious and the service was good. Amazing food at decent prices. This place has some class and it definitely breaks the monotony of the glut of chains in the area. I've only sampled a few dishes but I can say that they have great clam chowder, burgers, steaks, prime rib, pretzel crusted chicken, mac and cheese, and red snapper. I have to say that I love Sheridan's. We go often for breakfast/brunch on the weekends and its always good. I especially love the Sweet Applewood Panini with side salad. Coffee is strong and flavorful...I think it might be from Alterra. Yum. Thought we'd try one of their wine tasting dinners they offer periodically, sometimes for holidays. This one was for Valentines Day. We were lucky to get a reservation because these are becoming more and more popular. For a fixed price of $50, we had a 3-4 course meal that was goumet quality!!! The chef clearly loves his work so every course complemented the others and each had complex, delicious flavors. Each course was accompanied by a different wine. I noticed that everyone was having such a good time that they were all talking with each other...We had such a fun time, we'll definitely be back. read more

Rushed for no reason.... We came in for brunch on a Sunday morning. There was a decent crowd, but no one was waiting for a table. We were catching up with a couple of friends, had food and it was good, but as we were talking after our meal, the check was dropped and we were basically cut off. No ask if we wanted any additional drinks, or water refills. So we paid and left. Maybe a mis-communication when we declined any dessert?? We won't cut if off our list of brunch places, but we won't go out of way to return. read more
