I adore this hotel! I've never had the chance (yet!) to actually stay at Saint Kate, but I'm a huge fan of the entire atmosphere. I love the bar and lounge area. Great bartenders and unique drinks. The "art" part of this hotel is very much evident right when you walk in. They have an artist in residence, a gallery with is regularly changing exhibits or installations. This amazing former cigarette vending machine turned an art vending machine. A bright and colorful design which provides another opportunity to explore art but different mediums. I always make sure I have cash in hand to grab a piece or two from this brilliant addition to the hotel. Such a wonderful feature and an asset for Milwaukee! read more

Beautiful, unique hotel full of art, good dining, drinking, and friendly competent staff. I love the repurposed cigarette machine filled with cigarette pack sized art (but no one has change, you need a $5 bill). I really like the jazz brunch, though the jazz started before there was anyone at the bar. Also, the bar doesn't have proper espresso cups and saucers, though it does serve good espresso. Timing just a little off. Very comfortable lobby. The art is contemporary, maybe some modern, very tastefully chosen and displayed. Right across from the Marcus Center so perfect for before or after a show. If you're coming from out of town, you don't really need an Uber, take the Greenline bus for less than $3, or the 80 to the 18. It's an easy 8 minute bus ride from the Amtrak Intermodal on bus 57 or if it's nice and you don't have a lot of luggage it's a pretty pleasant 20 minute walk (half an hour if you walk like me). read more

Absolutely gorgeous Hotel! Even though we did not stay there, we were going there strictly for dinner after an event that we attended from across the street. My sister had made a reservation for her and I and they sat us at a table so that we were able to get an amazing view of downtown Milwaukee. Each of us ordered beverage. Our waitress was absolutely very knowledgeable at different food choice items that they had are appetizer was delicious. It was a goat cheese with like a tomato marmalade. My sister ordered an entrée of a steak with three different sauces one of them being a chimichurri. Cooked to perfection! I ordered the beef short ribs with glazed carrots oh my gosh, the beef short rib was cooked to perfection. It was so fall off the fork tender. And then they had like these crispy potato gratin that were absolutely delicious. We then proceeded to go downstairs from the restaurant and they had a delightful musician playing on the piano as well as the guitar. He was really good. We will definitely be back. Chic, fun, an art lover's delight! I wasn't a Hotel guest...this time, but will definitely stay here on my next overnight in Milwaukee! I walked in to grab a slice next door before a show and discovered this chic boutique hotel in the arts district near the river walk, directly across from the Marcus Performing Arts Center. The artsy lounge has a large wraparound bar with intimate and larger group seating areas with velvety colorful sofas and chairs, live music and large windows with city views. A friendly cocktail server immediately stopped over to ask if I needed anything and I appreciated the prompt, friendly service and great selection of cocktails and bar food available. To my surprise there was a fabulous art gallery just behind me! This was the best surprise of the evening and I will definitely go back soon! read more

I have dined at Saint Kate, and even stayed a few nights in their beautiful rooms over the years, but recently was first time enjoying the lobby morning hours! It's honestly stunning and so welcoming, filled with (you guessed it) beautiful art. Love all the decor and furniture, the ceilings are sky high, and they have various levels with different seating options. I popped in to grab a coffee and get some work done before heading by to a meeting. The main bar there is heavily equipped with all things cocktails and beer, which they do very well I might add. In the mornings however, they also serve coffee drinks. I went for a latte and was pleased they had so many milk options to choose from. I thought the drink was pretty tasty. Thoroughly enjoyed hanging out for few hours at a comfy spot in a beautiful atmosphere. read more

The coolest hotel we have ever stayed in! Saint Kate is unlike any other hotel. You walk in and can immediately see into the art galleries on the lower floor. Upon check in, the staff offered us champagne, however, since I let them know I can't drink, they offered us champagne-flavored gummy bears instead! Right by check in, there's a table full of records. The staff let us know we were free to grab any we'd like to take to our room as each room had a record player! Upon entering, we saw the room was very nicely kept, modern and spacious. There was the record player that was nice to have music in the room and they even had colored pencils and drawing paper! Throughout the hotel, there were other restaurants and the art on display. We had fun exploring and seeing all the artwork. Wow! Amazing hotel from the moment you step in the lobby! My husband went to check in and was offered a glass of champagne! The bar area is an obvious hot spot, with a great live band (it was Saturday). Each room is decorated by local artists. To boot, they have a record player, several albums (& more you can get at the front desk) and a ukulele with playing instructions in each room! Also in the lobby is a resident artist and several art gallery's. I was overwhelmed at each turn you could see how carefully and thoughtfully each inch of this place is and how dedicated they are to the art scene in Milwaukee (I never knew!). I've stayed at Saint Kate a couple times previously and at Intercontinental before it was renamed. After the rename their prices went up, and while it's a nice hotel I probably won't stay again as the high prices don't really reflect in my experience. I would say they are targeting a younger crowd, which is smart. They have bars and nice restaurants inside. The general decor is upscale and attractive. Our bed was very comfortable and the desk staff were lovely. However there were a few problems I feel for the price shouldn't have been part of the experience. The sink in our restroom was draining slowly, so either wasn't vented properly or was partly clogged. Rooms contain a small portable record player and some albums, which is a cool touch, but we couldn't play anything because the player had a broken cartridge. There was also more noise than I would have liked. Other guests were periodically gathering in the hall outside our room chattering until late. We were put in a room right upstairs from the bar and also facing a busy street. For the cost I'd expect them to put older people who probably aren't there to party up on a quieter floor away from the street. I don't think this is a bad hotel, I just don't feel the cost is reflected in the experience anymore. read more

Saint Kate doesn't have art, Saint Kate is art. Spend some time in the lobby and at The Bar. Walk through the galleries. Read the literature in your room about which artists you're "sleeping with." Explore the whole hotel. After just one stay I can say this is my all-time favorite hotel. I love art and luxury stays so it's a no-brainer. There are a couple of options for food. Downstairs you'll find pizza, salads, and burrata... all delicious. Upstairs there's a sit down restaurant with great views and equally great food (highly recommend the French Toast with caramelized bananas). Everyone at Saint Kate is so friendly. The champagne check-in starts the stay right. Getting back late at night, the pizza place was supposed to close in less than 10 minutes but they were still taking orders and doing it with a genuine smile. As we were leaving, we were talking to a staff member that was cleaning and she gave me an extra bar of their eraser soap! Saint Kate lives, eats, and breathes the Unreasonable Hospitality lifestyle and because of it I will always recommend them to anyone staying in the Milwaukee area. read more

We arrived earlier than we could check in so they held our luggage for us while we walked around exploring Milwaukee. When we got back and checked in, they had champagne for us at the front desk! And you can have more than one..... so we got to our room and it was uniquely decorated, so cute! There were lots of cute things all over the hotel. We tried out one of the hotel restaurants for dessert and a drink and the staff were wonderful! We utilized the workout facilities and they were top notch! Lots of great equipment and really clean!! There were coffee machines at each floor as soon as you got off the elevators, how awesome is that??? Stayed at Saint Kate for NYE. Our corner suite was AWESOME. Loved the view of City Hall and Red Arrow Park ice skating rink. The bed was comfortable, the free champagne is always a lovely touch, and the bathroom was huge! We listened to some records and my husband played the ukulele. Our floor was very quiet and clean. We dined at Aria, hung out in the lobby to bring in the New Year, and walked around the area to look at art and get some fresh air. I would give this hotel a solid 4 Stars We stayed here for a few nights while traveling to Milwaukee to see some Brewers games. I really enjoyed my stay here and what it had to offer. We booked the Premier 2 Queens High Floor The rooms were a good size and the beds were comfortable. The pillows were meh but the comfortable bed made up for it. I appreciated the attention to detail in the room: the fun tile artwork in the shower, the eraser shaped soap, the self-serve coffee bar right outside the elevator on our floor, etc. I enjoyed their was a ukulele and record player in the room. We took advantage of the music they let us borrow. The showers had good water pressure and the hotels soaps/shampoos smelled great. The bar downstairs was a great place to hang out at night. It was poppin' every night with a fun/younger but mature crowd. Fun to people watch and talk to the locals. The hotel was located in a good area of town. Lots of bars and food spots to eat at within walking distance. A Starbucks was located directly across the street if you are one of those people who book hotels based on how close a coffee shop is. They offer 3 different eating spots in the restaurant. We didn't eat at any but it seemed popular when we walked by. My only negatives: 1. They don't have a shuttle service to the airport. You are forced to taxi/Uber/Lyft to and from, which I found pretty inconvenient. 2. It was a little annoying parking was $30 a day. Always a pet peeve when there's no free parking at the hotel AND it's expensive. 3. The hotel wasn't very close to the stadium so we had to Uber or hitch a ride to the game. And again, no shuttle service to the game. The stadium was only a few miles away, and again, pretty annoying they wouldn't offer this simple service. I would have given 5 stars to this hotel if they offered a shuttle service to the airport or stadium. Because they didn't, it was inconvenient to have to try to Uber everywhere. This place is IMMACULATE! Such a cozy, quaint and vibrant place. From the moment we arrived with a complimentary glass of champagne, to the bustling bar, to the artsy room and our wonderful brunch at the Aria! The staff is charming, helpful and accommodating! We really enjoyed relaxing in the room while finding little artsy trinkets scattered around. We also loved that the parking garage was attached and apparently had Tesla chargers. We didn't find them because we grabbed a big spot in the tight garage but if you ask the hotel I'm sure they can advise on what level the chargers are on. Another piece of charm is the record players in each room equipped with a few records or go to the lobby and they have others you can pick from! So cool! We plan to come back in the winter with our daughter because attached to the hotel is the theater that means no stepping outside in the cold, hauling a cab because its fully connected! I loved my stay at the Saint Kate! I thought the hotel was beautiful, the rooms were thoughtful, everything was super clean, and the beds were super comfortable. I also loved that you didn't hear every single other room while you are trying to sleep at night. They have some great sound proofing at this hotel!! The welcome sparkling wine was great at check-in and the front desk staff was quite friendly. I appreciated the texts following up during my stay. When I arrived I immediately went to the parking garage (super easy to find and entrances on two sides of the hotel). They might actually have valet as well, but I didn't see any info about that prior to arriving. Parking in the garage is super easy. The first time you grab the ticket, but then you give that ticket to the front desk staff and they send you a QR code to get in and out of the garage during your stay. That way the parking is just charged directly to your room. I loved how on every floor they had a coffee machine and a cold water station. That water station probably costs them so little and is such a nice touch. I stayed in one of the studio rooms and it was perfect. As mentioned above the bed was comfortable, there was a huge TV, a great desk setup, and a huge beautiful window looking out over the city. The art touches throughout the room are so thoughtful and pretty. I even loved the hand soap in the bathroom being in the shape of an old school eraser. Fun touches like that! I also dined at Giggly while I was there which was a great experience. Overall I would certainly stay at the Saint Kate again! read more

I had been here for drinks once and aspired to stay overnight the next time I had the chance. There is a parking garage attached to the hotel for $31 with in/out access, but it's not really necessary because everything is so walkable. The hotel is beautiful, with a large bar and art gallery. Imagine you get to sleep at a modern art museum. I think this is how you would want your stay to be, beautiful, unique, and feeling inspired by the creations of others. The staff was very friendly and helpful with suggestions for places in the area. I was offered champagne upon check in. I really like the room set up of our room where the sitting area was separated from the bedroom and the beds here are super comfortable. There were just so many creative touches. The room had a music theme as there was a ukulele and a record player. I love the little artistic details from the bathroom tile, sink, and eraser soap. The location was great as it was walkable to all the restaurants we went to and near the Riverwalk and to the Historic 3rd Ward. We just left the St. Kate Hotel after a two night stay Friday and Saturday night. The first night, the stay was good. Room was clean and the only thing we missed was better lighting, the room is pretty dark. The 2nd night on floor 8 was terrible. We returned to the room about 9pm after enjoying some drinks at the Upper Bar. Once we stepped off the elevator into our floor, we were hit with a smell of Marijuana. It was a slight odor, it was to the point where you couldn't even breathe. We got to our room and it was OK in our room until about 11pm. After that, we couldn't breathe in our room either and it was a terribly long night until we fell asleep at about 4am once the smell dissipated a bit. We checked out at 8am and just returned home. We did bring this to the front desks attention and were told security was aware. I don't think we will return here as we have not experienced something like this in our stays at the other very well known, higher end hotel in Milwaukee. We tried Saint Kate for the first time and left with a headache, feeling ill from the smell and now having to wash all our clothes including coats to get the horrid smell out. Again, this wasn't just some scent, these people had to be smoking blunt after blunt, it was pure smoke everywhere. Very disappointed and would recommend staying someplace that invests in smoking sensors to prevent this experience. read more

Saint Kate is truly one of a kind. We stayed here for the Memorial Day weekend. We had an amazing stay filled with relaxation and artistic leisure. What sets Saint Kate apart from other hotels is their focus on the arts. Upon entering Saint Kate, your'e met with the Museum of Wisconsin Art (MOWA DTN) housed near the lobby. MOWA DTN is free to the public with rotating exhibits featuring a mix of known and up and coming artists. Further in at the lobby, we were given a complementary glass of champagne. To the right of the check in desk, they have a small store with Jeff Koons-esque balloon animal banks, signature pink erase bar soap made by Niki Johnson (which I absolutely love), coloring books and a myriad of other cool stuff for sale. There was a flurry of activity when we checked in. We saw two weddings that evening. Once we got to our room, we settled in and checked out the digs. While hubby was relaxing on the bed watching TV, I was plenty distracted in a good way! I saw a red ukulele in the corner of our bedroom and at first thought it was a decorative piece. As soon as I picked it up and found out it functioned, I forced myself to learn the hook to Dueling Banjos. It was silly but simple fun. After my musical moment, I moved over to the TV shelf and perused through the vinyl records and books featuring past and current artists. I took a record and went off to the living room to play it on their Bluetooth record player. YaY! More fun. More relaxation. It's these extra amenities plus a drawing station included in your hotel stay that sets this hotel in a class of its own. Plus, Saint Kate is within walking distance to many tourist spots like Milwaukee City Hall and the Riverwalk. I would recommend purchasing your stay with parking. It's $30 with underground parking attached to the hotel. The $30 fee provides you with unlimited in and out privileges; great for us since we enjoy exploring the city not only on foot but by car too. The beds were firm but comfortable. I love their shower and want one just like it for our home! The digs are modern, service all around was friendly and the hotel is in a prime location. They have a pretty bar complete with music entertainment at night. There are several dining options on site if you wish to stay within the grounds. My last tip worth mentioning is that you can swap out the records from your guest room and pick up a new set found to the left of the check in desk. They have an ample amount of vinyl separated by category to choose from. Given all the bells and whistles, is it a pricey hotel? Yes, but it's worth it for the occasional getaway. read more

This place is so cute and I've always wanted to try it out so we stopped in for a cocktail. Parking was not easy to find, but it was worth it to explore and enjoy. The staff was very friendly and it the first floor is very clean and spacious. The art that is available to the public is so fun to just wander and appreciate. I ended up getting the Held cocktail - I can't see something with lavender on the menu and not order it. A few other people in my party ordered it too and they were all slightly different colors...you almost have to mix it before drinking as it can be a little layered with the St. George Botanivore Gin, pear, lime, and blueberry flavorings added. I'll start off on a positive note, the pizza is absolutely amazing, you won't find better pizza anywhere else I can guarantee that! The drink was also amazing, as I love a good mezcal drink! However when I got to the bar the bartender didn't even acknowledge me and was working right infront of me for a few minutes. I then waited and asked her if I could order I ordered my drink then wanted to order pizza. I was sitting at the table so she said she would have someone come over and take my order, but I watched her she never asked anyone and the servers passed me multiple times. I then had to go up from the bar and leave my Mac and ask for my order to be taken which she then took at the bar. The food did come out quickly which was good. I would recommend this place but they definitely need to step up their service just a bit. Ok so I came back and I'm changing my review. I wrote this in the middle of me being there. We drove up to Milwaukee from Chicago for a quick one night stay at Saint Kate and had a lovely time. Truth in advertising certainly applies here, as there are arts aplenty. Several gallery rooms on the first floor had photography and mixed media exhibits, with additional paintings and exhibits along the corridors of the second floor. There is also artwork scattered throughout the upper floors and of course in the rooms. The artwork is all contemporary and of very high quality. Definitely set aside some time to explore the exhibits while you are here. The rooms are good sized and comfortable; one of the king rooms, a basic model, has a comfortable couch which apparently doubles as a pull out bed. All rooms have a turntable and a ukulele. I did not test out the turntable but I did enjoy badly strumming on the ukulele. You will too. Entertainment options include a lobby bar and a pizza parlor (Proof) on the first floor, and a champagne bar (Giggly) and contemporary American restaurant (ARIA) on the second. There is also a steak restaurant (TDR) hidden on the second floor which is temporarily closed to the public because of COVID. The lobby bar makes excellent cocktails but needs a dedicated bar menu - mixed nuts, olive, charcuterie and cheese, etc. Proof and ARIA were both good, check out my reviews there. Finally, notes on the beds and baths, with a view toward accessibility (I walk with crutches and use a wheelchair for distance): - The beds are reasonably comfortable but on the firm side. They are also very high - merely annoying if you are of a reserved height, but probably unnavigable if you must transfer from a wheelchair. The front desk tells me they can be lowered, though, so call ahead. - Accessible bathrooms are good size and have benches in the shower.
