A very unassuming restaurant in Burlington that makes some really tasty food. As a vegetarian, I had the opportunity to taste their "Dhal" as a soup (which was pretty good). I also ordered Sag Paneer along with Rotis. Both turned out pretty good!. When you order the spice level for your entree - make sure you know that SPICY can be very spicy. I thought I could handle it and it was a little bit challenging. Real tasty food neverthless. They also have beer and wine (which is not mentioned here) and I had the chance to have an East coast IPA (Header Toppers -Alchemist) made by in Waterbury,VT, That compared real well with a Dogfish 60 IPA. read more

This place is great! The food flavors are very authentic and delicious. The lunch special is one of the best deals in town. Sometimes the dinner plates can take awhile to get to get to the table if they are busy. The Sunday buffet is also better if you get there earlier in the day. Those are the only downsides to a meal here. The service is friendly and prompt (if they are not slammed). I've had most of the items on the menu and it is ALL GOOD. My friend ordered a "hot" dish, which ended up being way too hot for her, so she ordered the saag paneer. Heavens. Lean beef, gentle spicing, yummy dumpling dough--tiny pleated bags of delicious. The light tomato sauce was fine, but no accompaniment was really needed. And then, khulfi: What ice cream wants to be, with a dusting of pistachios, served in a hammered copper champagne glass (not really, but that's what it resembled) Verdict: I shall return! Extra points for service: My friend couldn't get the first two desserts that she'd wanted (one took too long to make and they were out of the other)--so the one she got was on the house! read more

Fun place with great food and service. The lamb curry was a bit overcooked although the flavor was excellent, and the prices were reasonable. I wasn't a huge fan of the beef dumplings which were under filled relative to the dough. The meat itself was great though. I look forward to another visit when I'm in Burlington. read more

Here is the deal with this place. The aunthetic Nepalese items like momos, chowmein, samosa chaat, aloo chop are solid options here. The dishes that are "indian" inspired like tikka masala will not satisfy an Indian person's palate. The reason this place sells Indian items is to appeal to a broader audience which is business-savvy. If you want to try some solidly authentic Nepalese flavors, try the ones I mentioned above. But if you want heavily creamy and spiced chicken tikka masalas and curries, you should go to an Indian restaurant. read more

Delicious food and friendly service! I lived in a region of India inhabited mostly by Tibetans for a month and my experience tells me that the food and ambiance is very authentic. I felt like I was there again! The server knew the menu very well and the food was fantastic-- wonderfully fresh, not at all oily, well seasoned, perfectly cooked veggies. As delicious as it was, our pakora sat in the window too long and lost some of its crispness and while none of the food was completely cold, it was not served as hot as i would have liked. I love having lunch here! I probably come about once a month at least. If you ask for the spiciest they can make, it may be the spiciest food served in the area (spicier than all the Thai places I've tried). Servers are very nice. All the food is good here. I love this place. It's small, and I do try to go at non-peak hours because you can end up waiting. The momo are excellent, the chicken tikka masala & the curry are wonderful - if a bit salty at times - the chow mein is tasty & even my young children love it. The thing we can't order enough of: Sherpa bread. It's steamed dough which I love alongside the masala - and we can't get enough of it! We love this place, I only wish it was open on Sunday's & larger so we could always get a table. When I'm in Burlington, I always think to go here to eat first. read more

In hindsight, that may be a bit unfair, but right now as I right this review, it feels pretty significant. My friend and I are currently sitting in our hotel room in Burlington after taking home some rice pudding for dessert. We eagerly anticipated this dessert and bought two portions at $4 a piece. We were sorely disappointed. This is not your grandmother's rice pudding, and I unfortunately do not mean this as a compliment. All that being said, our experience in the restaurant was absolutely incredible. Amazing food, perfect portions. Be sure to try the roti, and don't miss out on their curry. Sherpa Kitchen has a charming atmosphere with a polite, no pressure staff. I was so impressed with the quality service that I received that I will definitely be returning in the future. The assorted dumpling plate was amazing and almost a whole meal init of itself. For dinner I had the beef curry which was more than I could finish in one sitting.
