She is professional, very reliable, offers VERY current products (her albums, for example) and she is creative and thinks outside the box. She captured all the details we wanted, wether it was people or things such as our cake, flowers, etc. I highly recommend her. I gave 4 stars instead of 5 because I didnt order an album or prints from her because the package we bought was just a high resolution DVD. But I did see samples of the albums she does, which is how I know the style. She remembered peoples names and was totally composed and collected when things were hectic. Great focus!

She was very patient and gentle to our baby. She even brought scarves and fabrics that would look great on the pictures. After viewing the pictures, we were very excited to take the prints home and share the digital copies to our friends and families. We were extremely disappointed and heartbroken when we found out that the only pictures we could actually have are ones we purchase as packages or a la carte. The price was absolutely high!!! We couldn't even afford to keep the digital copies. We asked if we could at least have the low res copies. even ones w/ her logo just to share on Facebook or email but she refused to give them. I offered to pay for them but she still insisted on the original files for a super high amount or her packages! I look at my daughter and I am so sad that we don't even have 1 digital file for her pictures. What we have are ones we used for the announcements which also cost an arm and a leg. We event went to see her at her San Francisco office just to be told that she wouldnt compromise or negotiate on the prints. No matter how good of a photographer you are, you should fully disclose the amount associated with your service... including prints and rights to digital files. She didn't do either one. We didn't even have a family portrait for her newborn session. I wouldn;t recommend Bug and Bean due to her price. There are other photographers out there who are just as good. They will provide high res photos and have reasonable print prices.

They will be cherished forever. I contacted Shelly Mother's Day weekend last year. Grandpa got a shocking bone marrow cancer diagnosis a couple days before and was going in the hospital that Monday for treatment. Life and looks were about to change dramatically. Things were moving fast, and we wanted to get family pictures. I reached out to Shelly and explained the situation. With no time to go shopping and plan. Shelly was very helpful offering advice on what to look for in our closet. On a rainy, drizzling, holiday Shelly took fabulous pictures. STYLE: Carmen has a photo-journalistic style and is able to capture moments in a very pure and beautiful way. My guests have given me feedback that they hardly noticed Carmen or her second shooter, Jennifer, and yet looking through the pictures we see that they got great shots of everyone. FIRST LOOK: Carmen encouraged us to do a bride/groom session prior to the Ceremony, which turned out to be an excellent idea, despite being somewhat untraditional. She orchestrated a "first look" where I walked up to my awaiting groom with his back turned - and photographed the whole thing, including the look of amazement on his face when he saw me for the first time. Having our "first look" be a private moment was actually really nice and I'm glad we did it prior to the ceremony. ENGAGEMENT SESSION: If you are looking for a wedding photographer, I recommend doing an engagement session because 1) you get awesome pictures (we used one for our save-the-dates) and 2) you get experience being photographed and you learn how to work with your photographer. After our engagement session, we gave Carmen some feedback, all of which was followed on the day of our wedding. PROFESSIONALISM: Carmen was also a pleasure to work with! She provided excellent communication leading up to and following the event. Her online system where she posts the photos is very easy to use and you can order beautiful prints directly through the site. There is event a "favorites" feature that any of our guests can utilize to mark photos that they like. I highly recommend Carmen to photograph any event and plan to use her again in the future!
