Paint is the easiest way to transform a room, but selecting a paint color is far from easy! Color is a reflection of the light and color around it it so a particular paint color can look vastly different when you paint it on your walls and it reflects the hardwoods, carpets, furniture, etc in the room. I'm pretty good at seeing the "color" and tone in a sample, meaning is the gray pulling blue, brown, sage, purple? After painting several large swatches on the walls, I felt the gray we chose was pulling too much blue so we went back to the store with the goal of finding the same level of saturation but a few spots over on the color wheel so it would have a brown base. Luke was working that evening and when I explained the intention, he chose a color he felt would meet our needs. He also recommended painting the sample color on large 2x3 sheets of paper so we could move the paper to all areas of the room and see it in different lighting conditions. He said he wasn't trying to get us to spend more money, he was making this suggestion because we mentioned how the colors seemed so off because the existing wall is an orange tan. Sure enough, when we painted the samples on white, and put the papers in the wall, we were able to see the color more realistically. The color he suggested ended up being the perfect greige (gray beige) that we were seeking. We came back a few days later to find a pure white for the trim and were running into the same challenges. There is no pure white because white definitely picks up on the colors around it. We were in luck because Luke was there again! We had narrowed it down to Chantilly Lace and Super White. Without telling him our choices, we asked him which white would show as true white against the greige. Now, there are dozens and dozens of whites. Instantly he said Chantilly Lace. We painted more white sheets, put them on the wall, looked at them at night and in the daylight against the greige walls and hardwood floors. Chantilly Lace was the unanimous decision. Now, before we saw Luke, there was someone else working who was not nearly as helpful. In fact, it seemed like he didn't want to answer any of our questions or assist at all when it came to trying to decipher colors and how they would appear. So I think we had several super experiences because of Marcus. We have several more rooms to go, and we will continue to come back to Dick's Color Center / Sherman Williams because of the great advice and fabulous experience working with Luke.

We've considered going back to Behr paint from Home Depot, but we keep coming back here due to great customer service. For Covid stuff - they have plexiglass up & the store usually barely has anyone here. Love this place.

When he gets back I find out they charged me close to 100 dollars a gallon not honoring my original price. I called to see if I could have the issue fixed but the manager gave me nothing but attitude. I don't understand with their records of my purchases and the cans I bring in that are bought from them that they get this wrong? Stopped in yesterday to pick up some paint. There was nobody else there, so they took care of us…read moreimmediately. Got our paint + primer mixed up in no time and got us on our way. We had another paint chip we were hoping they could match, but it was just too small/thin. I would have given them 4 stars, but the two guys on duty were complaining loudly about something back in the work area, made me kinda uncomfortable. I walked around the store while they were mixing up the paint, the place was very neat and clean.

I've gotta give Parker (assistant manager) a huge thumbs up. Customer service is always top notch…read moreyet more importantly the employees at this store understand paint - how to spray it, which choice is the best (yes there are a ton of choices) and how to avoid bad decisions. Parker can give excellent advice because he actually uses the products and understands what works and what doesn't. Every time I walk into the store I know I will find the best answer and the best products. I wish all of my vendors were this effective and easy to work with - it would make my renovation business so much more fun. Sherwin-Williams should make sure they keep Parker (give him a promotion) and use his approach as a standard for all employees.
