This is NOT a good place to buy anything that your life depends on... like lifts, jack stands, ramps and so on. Also not a good place to buy if you are looking for professional grade, precision items. I've been wrenching since I was a wiener so I know the value of tools that can be dual-purposed as pry-bars and sledge hammers. I have a fair number of crappy tools that have served me well for the purposes that I needed them to. I also have a fair number of tools that came from Snap-on, Craftsman and suppliers like those. A cheapo socket set? A set of drift pins? Yep, this is the place. A precision torque wrench that will get a lot of use? Maybe not so much. The employees at these places are usually low quality just like the merchandise. I don't mean this as a slam. You're going there to save money right? Not to have a great customer experience, get great advice and walk out with high quality tools at prices that are in the stratosphere. If the cashier even looks at you and acknowledges your presence you should feel lucky. Most of the time the employees are so totally indifferent to you that they will actually turn around and walk the other way if you look like you are going to ask them a question. I've been to this particular store many (MANY) times and this is one reliable constant here. They typically have on one cashier on duty and a line of many customers. And that one cashier has only one speed.... s-l-o-w! I'm going to guess that HF doesn't pay very well so attracting good employees probably isn't on the corporate radar. Not every project requires top-of-the-line tools to accomplish. I do a lot of repairs that only require a tool that works, not necessarily a tool that would work well in daily use. So in that regard, HF fulfills it's purpose and most of us don't have the disposable funds to be buying the best possible tool if it's only going to be used rarely. HF is popular with professional mechanics so perfectly serviceable equipment can be had here at low prices. You just need to know how to spot quality vs junk. Hence the 4 stars for fulfilling a needed service. If I was to grade the staff, it would be a solid one star and that would be generous.

Came here for a pressure-treated facia board and wasn't too happy with the customer service…read more Came into the store and the gentleman at the register did not seem overly pleased to be interacting with anyone. he gave me my ticket for the Callin order I had and didn't say a word I had to ask where am I supposed to go for it and he told me just go to the warehouse. Upon arriving at the warehouse, there wasn't any sign saying where to stop or anything. The gentleman came up, took my ticket and told me to go park in the shade. I immediately rolled up to which was pretty large. After Hanh came up and said I told you to go to the shade and pointed forward in which there was multiple shaded spots. I pulled up to the large shade spot, the driveway off to the side, which seemed like a good loading spot. Apparently that wasn't the shaded spot he was talking about. He referred to a spot right next to the shelf. When I came out of the car, the gentleman looked annoyed being like I told you to go to the shaded spot and I replied there's like five shaded spots you need to be more specific and he just walked away. Overall a grouchy bunch.

I'll be back in a few weeks as I'm hoping their summer outdoor dinnerware will go on sale. The light weight, colorful Melamine plates are perfect for outdoor dining. The last time I visited, the service was so slow. Unbearably slow. The woman wrapping my two dishes took painfully long. It was also the very first time I entered and was not greeted or asked if I needed assistance. Typically this doesn't bother me but this day I was in a hurry, did have a particular item I came to buy, but couldn't find assistance. There were several people working and were engaged in their own conversation. slow! One experience doesn't define a store so I'll be back when in the area. We may not have ever decided on our dream bathroom without her and the final price was better than we expected, especially after she found a great deal (in store clearance) on some porcelain tile that looked better than our first choice, which ended up being backordered/out of stock. We felt like we won the lottery with the much higher quality in the clearance tile that ended up costing us about a fourth of our original choice. She also searched for options to meet our color scheme and found a set that matched when we thought there wasn't an option that met the specific pieces we were looking for. There are even used tools in decent condition, and occasionally artwork, appliances, lawn hardware and more. I wouldn't compare it to Goodwill though : they are fairly picky about what they accept as far as donations, and there are no clothes. As someone who's both donated and bought here, I'm a fan. Prices are more than reasonable and you're saving this stuff from going in the dump.

Brian (I hope I remember his name correctly) was very helpful in that he located the same sink at another business where we would get it in time. We purchased the other items here and then went to their competitor to get the sink. Totally on board. Except when you feel like you are paying a penalty in both time and finances by going that route. 2012 was the year we decided to upgrade multiple kitchen and bath fixtures in our house. There are several specialty shops in Portland with a wide range of items beyond what you can find at Lowe's and Home Depot, but I wanted to stick a little closer to home. I was very excited to find this showroom just blocks from I-5 and the store itself is lovely. I've never been an internet shopper and while I research the bejesus out of retail items [1], the actual purchase of anything significant only comes after the all important sniff test. Or in this case, the touch and see test. Especially when you are looking at various finishes, you really need to see these items in person. A good friend, who recently went through a kitchen and bath remodel, recommended ordering through an online site. But, I decided to be a good little local consumer and ordered roughly ten items over the course of six months here. And while some of the in person experiences were swell, the overall experience was not. First of all, they seem woefully out of date regarding communication. Any retail business not taking full advantage of the web in this day and age is really missing the boat. They do have a website, and it turns out there are eleven locations throughout the Pacific Northwest, but it is minimal at best. There is one link to an employee's email, but we had a series of miscommunications by email, phone and in person. Several employees work at the store, but rather than deal with just one person we had multiple contacts. Because we didn't have a simple order (multiple items, some were on back order, etc.), it never seemed like the person we talked to knew what was going on. And when I compared the price I paid to the on-line site, theirs wasn't as good. So throwing a few extra dollars their way ended up feeling like a really bad idea based on the poor customer service. By the end of the project, I was ordering from the other on-line website. A few clicks of the mouse and items would magically appear on my doorstep. Go figure! Because I will always feel the need to see before I buy, I'll still stop by here. But actually buy something from here... nope. [1] It took me roughly 18 mo. and two dozen test drives to select my latest car.

Well with Covid-19, we've been doing a lot of house projects! We came here looking for rocks to…read moremake an area for a fire pit. Everyone here was extremely helpful. They helped us figure out everything we needed to prep. We decided on some antique black flagstone and it would cost $200 to get it delivered. The guy suggested that since we didn't live far, we could do it ourselves in two trips. That was an excellent idea and we actually did 4 trips because we decided to get more than we planned on and every single time they were amazing. Highly recommend this place for selection and top notch customer service.
