This is a great hardware store. The aisles are brightly lit, and all the merchandise is clean and neatly laid out. Everyone I encountered was very friendly and willing to help. I needed to repair something small, but had no idea how to go about it. The person who helped me found the solution which was a 50-cent hexagon screwdriver. One note, Parkrose was once locally-owned, but was bought by Tennessee-based CNRG in 2014. read more

I'm writing this review to talk about the great customer service I receive from David. He works in the garden department and is always there to help. AND most importantly, he recognizes me each time I come in and greets me with a smile and a hello. I also appreciate his markdown policy on plants before they are unsaleable. It makes me purchase more at regular price knowing that I'm getting a "deal". The garden department requires full time attention especially this time of year. Everything dies so quickly and it becomes depressing out there. You can tell when David is working and when he is not. Thank you David for your excellent service. We stopped in this location to check out their equipment rental and discovered that it's also a very nice, well stocked store! We rented a grinder from the rental desk but they seem to be limited on the equipment they have available. Many were in need of repairs so they were unavailable but I think that also shows they take good care of the maintenance on their equipment. The store has tons of items for your yard, garden, grilling, small home repair, tools and hardware needs. They even have some clothings, feed items and the biggest selection of bottled sodas I've seen locally. The staff was very friendly and helpful. Great store! read more

To every local, this is the location that woulda, coulda, shoulda be Trader Joe's. But, no amount of begging and pleading made it so, and after years of speculation this former grocery store has become a new location of Parkrose Hardware. Much hand wringing went into this announcement because there is an Ace Hardware just blocks away, but after visiting the store, I have to admit that I'm impressed. Parkrose fits the niche in between the local Ace Hardware (small hardware store) and the home improvement behemoths, Home Depot and Lowe's, neither of which are in West Linn. Talking to their employees, Parkrose is geared towards the homeowner rather than the contractor. A little bit of everything from outdoor BBQs, to seasonal decorations, clothing (Carhartt), bathroom and kitchen fixtures, yard supplies (lawnmowers to chainsaws), and so much more. They also have items for rent for both work (aerators, thatchers, mowers, and trimmers) and play (bounce rooms, cotton candy makers, etc.). A large section of the store is dedicated to Outdoor Living with Weber, Traeger, and Napolean Grills and Big Green Egg Kamado Cookers. What I first took for stacks of soil, were actually bags of different grilling accessories. I also enjoyed all the housewares and home decor items in the store. The space is huge, so easy to safely distance compared to the cramped aisles at Ace Hardware and leashed dogs are welcome. I'm also pretty excited about having most of my needs met locally rather than trips to Home Depot in O.C. which can be a zoo on weekend mornings. While they don't have a massive selection of everything, they cover most of the bases for the average home repair, maintenance, and entertaining needs. I moved to West Linn from NorCal several months ago (new grandchild) - I am a retired property manager having owned rental properties since 1983. I've sent a LOT of time in hardware stores !!! I witnessed the decline and closure of all the Mom & Pop places I counted on over the years for expertise and advice. To say I am thrilled to have discovered Parkrose is an understatement. Expertise aside, it is the friendliness of the staff that has stopped me in my tracks. I jokingly said to one the other day that hardware stores are so much more than hardware stores for a community. The only thing that would take Parkrose to the next level would be a Beer Garden !! Sometimes you just want to hang out with other "house proud" folks and talk about your favorite projects. read more

Today a friend and I were looking for screws. They didn't seem to concerned with trying to find the right screw we needed. They made comments like "out of all the screws we have one of them should work" but they didn't have the best customer service and will to actually try and find the screw we needed. We made a comment although it was being honest and they asked us to leave mind you we are ethnic and everyone working in their establishment was white. We definitely experienced racism today. read more

Went in on a busy Sunday after Thanksgiving. Only one cashier. She was tied up with a customer who was trying to return items. Line for checkout kept building and building. I was #8 in line when I joined, wanted to buy items totaling $12. Cashier stayed in discussion with the customer, left briefly to find help, finally a manager arrived but still they focused on the single customer with the complicated return. No reinforcements arriving, no additional cashiers, wondering if these are the only two employees that can act as cashiers?? Line up to 13 customers waiting. After more than 10 minutes [finally], first cashier opens another checkout station and others begin to check out. Very busy day, understaffed it seems and totally unaware of the folks waiting. I could have driven five miles to Home Depot in Oregon City, bot my two items there with self checkout and saved myself a lot of wasted time. Not good, Parkrose Hardware. read more

I didn't want to like this place (because I love the fantastic customer service at nearby Ace HW), but went to Parkrose HW when Ace & everyone else had no electricity after the freezing rain storms. What a wonderful HW store! They had everything I wanted & more. Unlike the big HW stores (i.e. Home Depot), they have employees that are happy to help their customers & will help you find the right items in multiple departments. Be careful of checkout line...lots of neat nicknacks & treats! Checkout the really cool Portland area pictures from the early 1900's, located behind the cash registers. read more

This store is beautiful. Very impressive. Only rating 3 stars because of the abundant staff, none seemed to really "know" the store. I've been twice and both times was told where to go and I "might" find the item there. Even though the sales clerk was standing doing nothing, she couldn't escort me to the item to be sure I found what I was looking for. The selection of axes was weak at best. The 2nd time I went in, there were three cashiers and there appeared to be less than 3 customers in the store. Not sure if there was a manager on staff or not. This will not be my go-to hardware store. I'd rather drive to a place that will give personal assistance and/or knows it's stock and location of items. I hope the owner improves the situation soon. i.e. Train staff to personally assist. read more

Convenient for residents of West Linn, and certainly not crowded (almost empty when I was there) if you are concerned about social distancing for Covid. Staff were friendly, but definitely not experienced if you have questions. I will still take an extra 5 minutes drive to OC Home Depot unless I need something basic or am aware of sales item. Glad this empty store is finally filled, but will be surprised if it makes it. read more
