Paint is the easiest way to transform a room, but selecting a paint color is far from easy! Color is a reflection of the light and color around it it so a particular paint color can look vastly different when you paint it on your walls and it reflects the hardwoods, carpets, furniture, etc in the room. I'm pretty good at seeing the "color" and tone in a sample, meaning is the gray pulling blue, brown, sage, purple? After painting several large swatches on the walls, I felt the gray we chose was pulling too much blue so we went back to the store with the goal of finding the same level of saturation but a few spots over on the color wheel so it would have a brown base. Luke was working that evening and when I explained the intention, he chose a color he felt would meet our needs. He also recommended painting the sample color on large 2x3 sheets of paper so we could move the paper to all areas of the room and see it in different lighting conditions. He said he wasn't trying to get us to spend more money, he was making this suggestion because we mentioned how the colors seemed so off because the existing wall is an orange tan. Sure enough, when we painted the samples on white, and put the papers in the wall, we were able to see the color more realistically. The color he suggested ended up being the perfect greige (gray beige) that we were seeking. We came back a few days later to find a pure white for the trim and were running into the same challenges. There is no pure white because white definitely picks up on the colors around it. We were in luck because Luke was there again! We had narrowed it down to Chantilly Lace and Super White. Without telling him our choices, we asked him which white would show as true white against the greige. Now, there are dozens and dozens of whites. Instantly he said Chantilly Lace. We painted more white sheets, put them on the wall, looked at them at night and in the daylight against the greige walls and hardwood floors. Chantilly Lace was the unanimous decision. Now, before we saw Luke, there was someone else working who was not nearly as helpful. In fact, it seemed like he didn't want to answer any of our questions or assist at all when it came to trying to decipher colors and how they would appear. So I think we had several super experiences because of Marcus. We have several more rooms to go, and we will continue to come back to Dick's Color Center / Sherman Williams because of the great advice and fabulous experience working with Luke.

We met with the owner, unsure how it would be handled, and he absolutely did the right thing. He acknowledged the employee mistake, took responsibility, and made sure our home looked exactly as it should. I think this family is amazing as the sister always helped me when I would shop for paint and she was always warm, giving and helpful. She made a lasting impression that her brother carried on! On August 18 2026, I purchased approximately $473 worth of materials for a project. David and Salome were outstanding. They were friendly, knowledgeable, patient, and genuinely went above and beyond to help me get what I needed. The products were excellent as well. I left that day thinking this is exactly why I like supporting a local business instead of automatically going to a big-box store. During that purchase I also ordered copper caps for my 6x6 posts. I later received a text letting me know they were ready, so I returned to the store to pick them up, arriving approximately 20 minutes before closing. Unfortunately, this second visit couldn't have been more different. Stacey was working at the register. From the moment I walked in, the interaction felt cold. There wasn't even a greeting until I initiated one myself. When I explained that I was there to pick up the copper caps, I was told I needed to pay for them. I explained that I had been under the impression they were included with the purchase I had already made. To be clear, I have no problem whatsoever with there being confusion about whether something had been paid for. Mistakes and misunderstandings happen in every business. What bothered me was the way the situation was handled. Rather than feeling like, "No problem, let's pull up your transaction and figure this out," I felt like my question was irritating and that I was inconveniencing the person behind the counter. I didn't have my paper receipt with me. Eventually, after showing the amount and date of the transaction on my credit card, the original invoice was located and printed. But even while trying to resolve what was really a very simple issue, the interaction continued to feel annoyed and unfriendly rather than solution-oriented. I later learned that Stacey is the owner/president of Clark Lumber, which honestly made the experience more disappointing, not less. That contrast is what stands out to me most. David and Salome made me want to become a repeat customer. The owner made me question whether I ever want to return. I don't think it would be fair to give the entire business one star because the employees I dealt with previously were exceptional and the products were very good. That's why I'm giving three stars overall. But customer experience matters, particularly when it comes from the person at the top of the company. A billing misunderstanding doesn't have to cost a business a customer. How you make that customer feel while resolving it absolutely can.

Ok it's been a few years since I tried this store again, even though it's closer than Home Depot…read more So I decided they must carry a simple 3/4" pvc coupling right? Wrong! It's like going to a grocery store and it's out of wheat bread! My only option for a simple sprinkler fix there was to buy either a galvanized coupling for $5 or a copper something for $13 instead of $2 pvc fitting! Neither of these are appropriate for typical irrigation work. On top of that, a quart of floetrol paint additive is $3 more than Home Depot! So frustrated, I put everything I had to buy back on the shelf and drove to Home Depot where I should have gone to begin with. Staff are courteous enough at Parkrose, but I get way better service, experience, price and reliability from HD! And by the way Home Depot had 2 boxes of my couplings out on the shelf, and more stock above. Not sure if it's the management in West Linn or it's just the way this "local" chain operates, but I'm not wasting my time driving there again! Two star review before, one star now!
