This place is exactly what a hardware store should be. In the days of Lowes and Home Depot it's very refreshing to have an old fashioned hardware store in the neighborhood. The staff is very friendly and very helpful. I'm amazed at how many different things they carry, and if they don't have it in the store, they are happy to order it for you. On August 18 2026, I purchased approximately $473 worth of materials for a project. David and Salome were outstanding. They were friendly, knowledgeable, patient, and genuinely went above and beyond to help me get what I needed. The products were excellent as well. I left that day thinking this is exactly why I like supporting a local business instead of automatically going to a big-box store. During that purchase I also ordered copper caps for my 6x6 posts. I later received a text letting me know they were ready, so I returned to the store to pick them up, arriving approximately 20 minutes before closing. Unfortunately, this second visit couldn't have been more different. Stacey was working at the register. From the moment I walked in, the interaction felt cold. There wasn't even a greeting until I initiated one myself. When I explained that I was there to pick up the copper caps, I was told I needed to pay for them. I explained that I had been under the impression they were included with the purchase I had already made. To be clear, I have no problem whatsoever with there being confusion about whether something had been paid for. Mistakes and misunderstandings happen in every business. What bothered me was the way the situation was handled. Rather than feeling like, "No problem, let's pull up your transaction and figure this out," I felt like my question was irritating and that I was inconveniencing the person behind the counter. I didn't have my paper receipt with me. Eventually, after showing the amount and date of the transaction on my credit card, the original invoice was located and printed. But even while trying to resolve what was really a very simple issue, the interaction continued to feel annoyed and unfriendly rather than solution-oriented. I later learned that Stacey is the owner/president of Clark Lumber, which honestly made the experience more disappointing, not less. That contrast is what stands out to me most. David and Salome made me want to become a repeat customer. The owner made me question whether I ever want to return. I don't think it would be fair to give the entire business one star because the employees I dealt with previously were exceptional and the products were very good. That's why I'm giving three stars overall. But customer experience matters, particularly when it comes from the person at the top of the company. A billing misunderstanding doesn't have to cost a business a customer. How you make that customer feel while resolving it absolutely can. read more

Great experience. I have had a frost-proof outdoor faucet that was leaking and I couldn't quite figure out the issue. I brought in the parts and was immediately helped with finding the right o-rings. 20min later I'm home now without a single drip leaking. This place burned down in Tualatin. I'm so sad. It was the best customer service I would get when I needed something done at home....hope they rebuild it!! This place is so great! It's so close and I can always find everything from lawn products to that 'little thingy' I need to make something work again in my home! This time it was a list; garden hose, sprinkler, mulch, lawn fertilizer and that 'thing' that spreads the fertilizer. There's always parking there, there's always something on sale, and the staff is friendly. Home Depot is great if you feel like getting lost but this place, I can just drive up, ask for my stuff and out of there in less than 10 minutes. I suppose it's the equivalent of how a guy feels about going into the mall and buying his underwear! In, out, done...really, no Freudian point meant there.... They also sell lumber here, but not really into wood, I mean, building projects so this store is close, cheap and fast. This is not coming out right so I'll stop here now. One more thing, I never have to ask for help to carry stuff out to my car, they will just do it for you!! Really, you should never have to ask for what you want... read more

I've been a long time fan of this business. They consistently exceed my expectations in customer service and show that they genuinely care. The other day I stopped by for some items for my restaurant, including odd sizes of peg board. They happened to have some scrap pieces that fit my need and gave them to me for free. Good, genuine companies that put the customer first aren't as easy to come by as they used to be but this one values their customers and I greatly appreciate that! This place is probably the best hardware store I've been in in the last 30 years, no joke. It's the kind of service you would expect from a small town where there is only one store. They aim to please here and they get it right. I have been in this store several times and the customer service and staff is exceptional. Yesterday I was in and needed to have a very large piece of wood cut that was too large for my saw. I drove up, the owner says "pull around back," stopped everything he was doing and bam, new mantel for my fireplace in five minutes. He didn't even charge me, just said "come back again with a smile and tell your friends." They have everything you need here and you are not going to get this type of service at a large box store, this is more of an experience. I live in Tualatin and I frequently need tools or supplies for projects. This is my first stop. Understand, a power tool in my hands is a potentially destructive weapon, but I enjoy the projects I adopt. I often have more questions than answers, not certain what a product is called, how a tool is properly described, or what may best for a particular application. In those situations, I describe what I hope to accomplish and ask what I'll need to do the job. The staff is knowledgeable and pleasant, and I enjoy shopping here. Occasionally I browse just to remind myself what might be useful or what my next project should be. There are two large stores not far away, a Home Depot and a Lowe's, but I prefer to start here. The shop's only limit is inventory; it's not a huge shop and they can't carry everything, but they carry a remarkable spectrum of frequently needed items, and much of what I usually need to tackle for my home improvement and hobby projects can be found here. Over the years, they've been very good to me and patient with my ignorance. If I didn't live a mile and a half away, I'd drive much further as a loyal customer. read more

I've visited this True Value a couple of times and am always impressed. When I have too many questions or am unsure of what to buy and visit The Home Depot, I often get eye rolls and the "little lady" approach. Not here! I was treated as a valued customer, and they were impressed by the Pinterest idea I was tackling, and Pat answered all 40 of my questions and guided me through the store. And, their prices are the best I've found! I've recomended this store quite a few times and will definitely continue to do so! read more
