Ultra Spec 500 is definitely the best for walls. Regal and Aura are overpriced and tend to drip to due paint viscosity, so I wouldn't use these lines unless you plan on having your home professionally painted. Advance tends to drip as well, so you will need to practice if you plan on using it yourself. Otherwise, I would recommend hiring a professional painter to apply Advance. There seems to be some pricing discrepancies each time I buy in the store. Sometimes they will apply a painter's discount and other times will charge me full price. I have addressed the problem with the store manager on a couple of occasions. My only real complaint is they tend to ignore customers in the store unless they are professional painters. Of course, they make more money on these customers, but they should at least acknowledge a customer when he or she comes in and say how long it will be before they help them. I saw one woman sitting at a table for over 20 minutes without help. Not acceptable. I have gotten to the point that I just write my order down, place it on the counter, and then go to Einstein Bagels to get something to eat. By the time I come back, my order is typically ready.

No answering machine to maybe let me know that the number I am calling is correct and no store hours. 3. Finally find this store on ANTIOCH and not 135th (maybe not their fault) and walk in to buy paint. After some discussion, they say they can have that paint ready by Monday.....it was early in the morning on SATURDAY. My wife and I walked out. Frustrating from start to a lack of a finish. ugh.

She brought in a Pantone color guide, he picked out paint that matched it exactly, advised us on what brands and what they'd deliver, helped us pick out some detail brushes and provided advice on getting the job done. Everything we could ask for. He even had a decent sense of humor--not what you might expect in a paint store chap. The store is well lit and clean, inventory is stocked well and things seem easy to find. Someone cares. I recommend them. Would I come back and buy more? In a heartbeat. I keep hearing they're the best in town and now I see why. Drumroll... as the first to review them after likely being on Yelp for years, "Ladies and Genteeeeelmennnn, Spectrum Paint!" "Hello, knock-knock, anyone there???" OK, so reviewing a paint store isn't exactly as exciting as reviewing a fine Charcuterie, Speakeasy or the martinis at your favorite watering hole. I bought an ice-cream scoop kit that demands you build it a handle; made a handle for it out of some 25 year-aged osage orange I had sitting around. The kit broke in like 5 ways, so... I don't know, still a great place for wood working enthusiasts. Tools galore, they have so much to play with in there; honestly, first time in, and I spent more than an hour walking around and touching things. They also have a great email system set up, so sign up for that. The location is a little Narnia-esq, what with the lefts and the rights and the straights, and don't get me started on the parking. But worth it I'd surmise. Work some wood; it'll do you good.
