The store staff was super helpful in getting me the right paint for my project (painting the surface of my "landing zone" at home). I was recommended to buy the extra white porch and floor paint; it was perfect. Color matched and the surface is durable enough to take a beating with book bags and shoes. I probably could have gotten a cheaper white paint, but I would have had to paint the surface again in no time. Thanks to the recommendation, it saved me time (and money) in the long run. We went with 'White Shoulders - 1265' because it's a dark bath and they told me how lighter colors reflect more light and make it harder for mildew to grow. They also suggested an eggshell sheen to offer a little more protection against the steam from our shower. Bath looks great! We will be shopping here again I'm sure!!

Came there specifically to have a key duplicated. No one at the desk. No problem, I'll wait. Employee walks by and sees me standing there and was going to keep walking so I decided to ask her if she can help me. Immediately, not a great attitude. Did not catch her name but pretty sure her name tag had "manager" on it. She had that way of talking that just signals they are irritated to be helping you. So she doesn't have the needed blank (which I understand) and decides to try to make a "custom" key for me, which I appreciate. She hands it to me and says she thinks it will work but it's custom made. Ok, I get it. This is where my annoyance increases. I said I'd like a total of three duplicate keys. She refused to make the other two. She said there's no point in making them if I'm not sure if they are going to work. Sure there is....I live an hour away, I tell her, so I'd like to get the keys now. Nope, she refused again. So if the keys work, I'm all set. If they don't work, I'm out $6 to $8. Under her way, if the keys work, I am supposed to make another 1 hour round trip to have 2 more made? Why not just make them? She apologized for how far I lived away and said....there's no point in making them if I'm not sure they are going to work. I'm a bit stunned at this outright refusal to sell the customer what they are asking for. I guess the customer is not always right at this store. It was clear she just didn't want to spend 5 more minutes making two more keys. It was quite annoying. I do not plan to return to this store.

He always tells me how to do my DIY painting projects the correct way. Which is so helpful. He also does framing. I have never been dissatisfied with his work . It's not cheap to get something matted and framed , but it's an investment and you want it right . His customer service is worth more than 5 stars . It's so nice to find that this quality hasn't diminished everywhere. Although rare , you can find it here. So see Laine for all your painting and renovating needs . He knows his stuff .

We bought a house one year ago and went to Gary for paint. Not only did he give us fantastic deals, but he offered advice and recommendations that helped us pick out proper brushes and rollers, kept our paint mixed well, and generally made the whole project easier. Gary even recommended hired help and tradespeople for other projects we were tackling such as installing a wood floor. These people all were top notch professionals who were invaluable. Even now we still go back to Gary for framing services, where he continues to excel. We needed some glass repaired and Gary was able to replace it while keeping the hanging wire at the exact same position it was before! We didn't need to move the hook at all! We'll be going back to Gary for our upcoming roof replacement because we trust him to do things right and always be honest with us. You can't do better than Laine's!

The store is on a weird tiny side street at Parham and Broad, tucked into an overlooked shopping center... at first I thought it could be a hardware store... but then I saw it was all focused on painting. The layout of the store seems very much like it's focused on contractors, though I was helped by the manager Glen Balke and he said he has lots of retail customers too. The store itself has a small front area for shopping, and then the rest looks like its storage... As the name implies, the only paint they sell is Porter. So in terms of selection, it's not the same as going to Lowes and browsing a bunch of collections. Porter does have a nice display of color choices, and the manager proactively gave me a whole book of samples to take home- which is pretty much a guaranteed way to ensure I end up going back to buy, since I'll be using those paint samples to match up fabrics I'm buying etc. Aside from color choices, they also have tons of painting supplies like brushes and ladders, etc. so handymen and contractors do probably go here to stock up... While I didnt ask for too many details about the different paint types (seems premature since I am not even sure I want to redo the kitchen just yet, and I still have to paint my bedroom) it looked like you would need a sales associate to walk you through the store and explain everything to you- they have a lot of choices and sell a lot of different types of paint that I have no idea what the difference is to regular paint- it's not really that user friendly to shop on your own. But, a sign over the counter listed the promises the store makes to its customers and #1 was that you will be greeted promptly and have a great service experience, which I did. I usually don't like to have help when I shop, but I would definitely come back and let them guide me through buying paint and supplies...

I needed a frame for a local breweries-styled print I received on Christmas (it was from local…read moremerchant Twig in Lakeside), so I brought the print with me and headed into Michael's. After testing it with several frames, I opted for a fairly priced classic brown and black frame. It had two hooks in the back, so I checked the picture-frame hardware aisle for other options. Command Strips were one, but after speaking with one of the ladies in the custom frame department, she recommended some of the metal twine. She had some extra, so she cut off a piece for me and threaded it through. Definitely above and beyond! It's been hanging right next to my front door ever since, and people comment on it when they walk in. It's actually my only framed hanging print in my apartment -- all others are canvas prints.

I have often gone in last minute to have things printed and/or laminated for my students as a teacher, my kiddos as an RBT, or as a designer for clients and friends. Regardless of my need or being pressed for time, these guys are amazing! They're always helpful, always patient and very good at what they do...I rarely give 5 stars, as that implies perfection, and who's perfect, really? When I have, I often look back and wish I hadn't. As a business, OfficeMax is a bit pricey and they don't give a teacher's discount, so I can't give them five stars, thus the reason for the four...However, as a department, the print staff gets 5 stars from me! I am so grateful for these guys and would never take my simple print needs anywhere else! I hope they continue to maintain this staff with their knowledge, patience and courteous dispositions...Add a teacher's discount and it will only raise the bar higher!
